The Neighborhood

MARSASCALA is an ancient fishing village with its picturesque bay that lies to the south-east of Malta. In the holiday season it is buzzing with activity, much loved by locals and visitors alike. Its long U-shaped coastline and beach, its rocky promontories and its multicoloured fishing vessels give it lots of character. This is enhanced by a wide variety of modern leisure facilities, cinemas and diving centres.

  • We spent seven pleasant days in Marsaskala. The location is excellent, very close to the center of town, bus lines, and places to go swimming. I can recommend staying here if you are looking for a place in a quieter part of Malta.

Some of the amenities (garbage bags, dish soap, etc) could have been a little better stocked, but it wasn't too much to worry about.

  • apartment fairly central in marsascala - located it ok - dorian very helpful on first day. apartment nice and clean with all amenities.
road outside a little noisey from early thru to quite and with a busy carpenter building opposite. If you have a car parking sometimes difficult but not too much of problem. Marsascala very busy in the evenings but plenty of bars and dining available. Hired a car but generally did not use it - the buses are much more convenient and much cheaper than petrol and having to pay to park in Valletta or Sliema - bus tickets are 2.60 euros for all day and can be purchased from a guy at the bus terminal in marsascala or on the bus. Apartment was exactly as described - satisfied with our
    ten day holiday = thanks

  • Great appartment in a great place!
Marsascala is very quiet, yet lively in the evnning, great places to hang out, great spots to swim, away from all the crowds in Valetta and coasts cities.
The flat is great, everything is new, the balcony is a real asset.
    A great week in Malta!
Albert and Dorianne are very thoughtfull, great people to deal with!

  • My husband and I enjoyed a lengthy stay in this apartment and found that it offered every accommodation we could have hoped for. It was bright, clean, and conveniently located close to the town center and all major bus routes. All amenities (WiFi, cooking utensils, air conditioning) were included, making day to day life most comfortable. Both Albert and Dorianne were more than helpful (and very friendly) any time we had a question or needed assistance.

We also had a great time in Marsascala. We found it to be laid back, not at all touristy, and perfect for a relaxed stay. It doesn't have the hustle and bustle of some of the northern towns, which was perfect for us. We loved that there were lots of charming restaurants and beaches within a short walking distance.

    Definitely recommended!

  • I was accommodated in Apartment 1 of Albert's house. It has its pros and cons. Let me describe them shortly:

    Pros:

LOCATION - Marsaskala is a beautiful city in the south of Malta. It isn't so overcrowded by tourists like St. Julian's so if you enjoy more peaceful atmosphere of a place you stay at, Marsaskala is the one which you are looking for. The flat is located 5 mins from the centre, 3 mins from a bus stop to Valetta. To the real beach (St. Thomas bay) it's a bit loger on foot (20 mins), by car is something around 5 mins.

DORIANNE - Albert's sister who meets you when you arrive and helps you during your stay. Fortunately, we didn't have any significant problems during our stay, but I believe she would help us with anything regarding the accommodation if we asked.

FURNITURE - the flat has new, not worn out furniture including a fridge - a great asset during summer, a cooker and also a washing machine.

AIR CONDITION - a life saving part of the apartment. There is aircondition and one ventilator in the bedroom and 2 ventilators in the living room. Very useful during the hot Maltese summer.

    Cons:

LOCATION - yes, it is also a disadvantage. I mean the location on a quite rush street. You can definitely hear every car that goes around. It isn't that terrible but for the people who prefer quiet accommodation like me it can be disturbing.

ATMOSPHERE - the place of the house where the apartment is located was a garage before. You will get the feeling immediately you enter it. The travellers who look for a stylish piece of accommodation, this one is not for you.

    Overall feeling:

OK for not very demanding travellers who need accommodation literally just for a sleepover.
