Need a place to crash short-term in New York City?
We'd be happy to receive you on board The Mothership, our little artists' collective consisting of three permanent members (30+ females) and a cat. You'll get your own tiny room in our live/work space in a converted industrial building located in the happening Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, NYC.
The room is equipped with a single bed, desk/chair, a dresser and clothing racks/shelves. With two bathrooms in the house, you will share yours with only one person. Wireless internet access, AC, and washer/drier. Non-smoking apartment.
Two caveats: The room is a converted ‘walk-in closet (9’ by 8’ with 11 foot ceilings), and its non-opening window overlooks the living room. Some shelves inside the room hold storage items. In other words, you will only have a minimum amount of private space, but you are, of course, welcome to use the communal areas of the loft, too.
The room (commonly referred to as the ‘guest closet’) only has a single, collapsible bed, and so is best suited for one person. However, we can also accommodate a couple on a double mattress on the floor. We will provide bed sheets and towels.
One more thing for you to know: If we are around when you get up in the morning, we’re happy to get you coffee, but otherwise, you should not count on us for breakfast.
Location: 4 blocks from Greenpoint Avenue subway station on G train, 15-min walk from Vernon Blvd on 7-train (1 stop to Grand Central Station).
Shopping, restaurants and bars are only two blocks away.
And the room comes with a bike, too!
These reviews are warranted; Sol is a phenomenal host.
The room was kind of small, but entirely functional for the purposes of my trip. The bike that came with the room was a great way to get around.
Didn't get to enjoy the rooftop too much because I was out of the house during the warmer parts of the day, but it was a nice perch to watch Greenpoint get going in the morning.
I'd definitely stay here again. Thanks Sol!
Sol was a perfect host and I immediately felt comfortable. The loft is so creative and interesting, I loved her paintings and the overall vibe at the place. Btw, the room is bigger than it looks in the photos.
You are very close to G & 7 trains and I enjoyed the neighborhood, Greenpoint, which seemed super safe and offered some good restaurants and supermarkets close by.
Sol was lovely, helping out wherever she could, thanks for the coffee!
Definitely recommend staying at her place!
Sol, what can I say?! Real amazing place. Sol was very helpful and the neighbourhood was fine. You can have everything all around you. Room is small but you have everything. House is big and full of creativity. I love it!
I hab a very nice time im the mothership of Sol. She is a very nice host. Sol helps on eher situation, with her knowlegdes. I hab a perfekt time.
I stayed at the Mothership, as Sol calls the big artist studio loft, for 14 nights. Couldent have been in a better place! Felt very welcomed and at home. The room I stayed in was also bigger than in the pics! Greenpoint and its location is great with good connections to Manhattan. Sol was the greatest host, very warm and generous - strongly recommend to anyone visiting nyc!
What should I say great location, nice apartment and nice people. I will definately come back to that Place. Thanks a Lot Sol
Sol 3 is the best host you could ever ask for! The mothership is a wonderful place to relax after a long dat in NYC. And the rooftop is perfect for morning yoga, tea or just to read a book! Its also pretty close to any transport! I loved being there and is def. Coming back :)
