About this listing
Need a place to crash short-term in New York City?
We'd be happy to receive you on board The Mothership, our little artists' collective consisting of three permanent members (30+ females) and a cat. You'll get your own tiny room in our live/work space in a converted industrial building located in the happening Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, NYC.
The room is equipped with a single bed, desk/chair, a dresser and clothing racks/shelves. With two bathrooms in the house, you will share yours with only one person. Wireless internet access, AC, and washer/drier. Non-smoking apartment.
Two caveats: The room is a converted ‘walk-in closet (9’ by 8’ with 11 foot ceilings), and its non-opening window overlooks the living room. Some shelves inside the room hold storage items. In other words, you will only have a minimum amount of private space, but you are, of course, welcome to use the communal areas of the loft, too.
The room (commonly referred to as the ‘guest closet’) only has a single, collapsible bed, and so is best suited for one person. However, we can also accommodate a couple on a double mattress on the floor. We will provide bed sheets and towels.
One more thing for you to know: If we are around when you get up in the morning, we’re happy to get you coffee, but otherwise, you should not count on us for breakfast.
Location: 4 blocks from Greenpoint Avenue subway station on G train, 15-min walk from Vernon Blvd on 7-train (1 stop to Grand Central Station).
Shopping, restaurants and bars are only two blocks away.
And the room comes with a bike, too!
What an amazing place to stay! Although I didn't see Sol a lot because it was my first time in NY and I was out a lot, I was delighted with this quiet oase in a great neighbourhoud, Green Point. The paintings Sol makes give the space a lot of character. On the first morning, she even made me some (very good) coffee! I definitely want to come back, wander the roofs and ride one of Sol's bikes.
This stay has been one of my best so far! Sol is an amazing host and person. Plus biking around NY was an awesome way to discover the greatest city on earth.
The Mothership was a perfect place to stay in Brooklyn!
The mothership was in a great location, convenient to subway but still quiet and interesting. Sol was very welcoming and it was great to be in a working artists place. Whilst the room was small, it was still fine and comfortable. Can highly recommend
Sol was really nice and friendly to welcome me upon my arrival! Her place is a gem hidden in Brooklyn! Really elegant decorations within the studio style rooms, everything is ready for you. Really easy access to the metro system as well. I enjoyed my stay there.
Sol is the perfect host; she's there when you need it but she's not intrusive. The house is exactly as described. It's big with a lot of houses and space to share. The room is small as described but it was perfect for the purpose I was there. The bathroom is shared with Sol and it's clean. The neighbourhood is safe and close to two subway station. In my opinion if you want to have a safe and easy holiday the Mothership is the perfect location and you'll be satisfied. THANK YOU SOL!
Sol was so welcoming and kind! She offered us her extra bikes which we rode down to prospect park. We had a wonderful time at the mothership and fell in love with Sol's cat, Puse, as well as the very evocative art work in the apartment. The sleeping quarters were more than sufficient for recharging our batteries and our bodies! We loved the view from the rooftop access and would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxed brooklyn experience.
