The Space

Puesta Del Sol Farms is nestled at the foothills of southern Santa Barbara County. With it's captivating views of the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands, this charmingly rustic guest home with beautiful hardwood floors and high vaulted wooden ceilings, built in 2006, sits on 4 pastoral acres surrounded by gardens, fruit, citrus and avocado orchards and even its own small vineyard where Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes are grown. If a quiet idyllic retreat is what you’re after, this location has it all. Strolling along pathways will lead you through beautiful native landscapes, a rose garden with heirloom and rare varieties of blooms, and a grape arbor with picnic tables to enjoy a wonderful outdoor meal or snack, all with a view through to the Pacific Ocean. While you’re there, stop over and say hello to the chickens or head down to the vegetable garden and gather up a few snacks. Depending on the season, there are abundant fruit trees from which to grab a quick treat--fig, orange, pomegranate, peach, apple, apricots and more. Or just sit on your veranda with a glass of local wine and enjoy another incredible sunset. But no matter where you are on this property you will feel the timelessness of this sacred land, which used to be home to the Chumash Indians, surrounded and nurtured by the sheer beauty of the Santa Ynez mountains hugging the expansive Pacific ocean.

Inside the cottage, the luxuries of a 5-star hotel await.

The two bedrooms both offer luxurious and comfortable beds and linens. No need to bring your own pillows, ours are as good as they get.

The bathroom is fully stocked with all the amenities you will need for your stay.

The kitchenette has all the utensils and appliances to cook a hot meal or just a great cup of coffee. All utensils including dishes, cups and silverware. Basic supplies like sugar, salt, pepper. Cleaning supplies like paper towels, dish soap etc. (see complete list of appliances in House Rules.)

The living room boasts comfy couches where you can sit and enjoy a fire from the wood burning stove, watch a movie on a 40 inch flat screen TV, listen to your favorite tunes on our IHome docking station or just curl up with a good book.

The house is equipped with wireless internet, heating and air conditioning and over 200 channels of satellite TV.

We are located amongst the most beautiful outdoor recreational areas in the world.

Minutes away are one fabulous beach after another: Rincon, Carpinteria State Beach, the worlds safest beach, or West Beach (between the Santa Barbara wharf and marina), just to name a few.

Right outside your door you can get your daily exercise doing a 2 to 4 mile loop around the mesa.

Just down the street is Hwy 192, one of the most beautiful bicycling routes in Santa Barbara County.

If golf is your game, there are 5 courses within a 25 minute drive.

Take a short jaunt on nearby Hwy 150 to the artistic and spiritual community of Ojai and Casitas Lake.

Downtown Santa Barbara or Downtown Ventura are just a 15 minute drive and some of the best wineries in Central California are only a 45 minute car ride away. And the quaint little town of Carpinteria is just minutes away by car. You’ll find small unique shops and restaurants with friendly owners and plenty of other interesting places to explore.

No matter what you do, your stay will be an experience you won’t soon forget!

  • David and Monica's property was wonderful and exactly as the pictures suggest. We had a fantastic stay at the guesthouse, outfitted with everything you will need, and they even provided us with breakfast, snacks, and beverages for our stay. The bed was very comfortable as well. Our favorite perk was getting to pick the fruits around the garden!
I would recommend this property 100%.

thanks for the heads up on the ants. we've been battling them along with everybody else. Our guy who sprays outside for them was just here so I hope it keeps them at bay for awhile. Thanks for the thoughtful review. Take care.

  • So I only got to meet Monica, but she was super sweet and only popped in to make sure we didn't need anything. We arrived to find a bunch of snacks waiting for us! We were hungry from the long trip so all of the munchies were great! The coffee and the French press were a great touch, the coffee supplied was delicious!! No sugar needed, so delicious!

The property was beautiful! Need an avocado, orange, lemon? Pick it from a tree! We had a little impromptu photo session after we noticed how beautiful the stars were at night.

During the day we enjoyed some craft beers, wine and snacks on the picnic tables provided.

The only complaint I got was from my cousin who didn't like the smaller bed, but he is very particular about his bed ;)..

The slot machine by the way is awesome...

Overall, go, you won't be disappointed! Plenty of ways to relax here and enjoy the beauty of Carpenteria!

Monica was very personable and was extremely concerned with how to improve, that's a sign of good customer service, always improving! Thanks guys!

  • David and Monica's guest house was absolutely lovely. The photos can't do the property justice, it is just too beautiful and amazing to capture in a picture. The house and property exceeded our expectations by far. David was lovely and had fresh produce from their garden and a bottle of wine from their first harvest waiting for us in the kitchen when we arrived. In spite of the house being in site of the main home, we had plenty of privacy. The property is very close to the shops and restaurants in Carpinteria and a quick drive to Santa Barbara. For a day of wine tasting we were easily able to call an Uber to take us into town for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again.

  • David and Monica are great hosts, discreet, but present and generous. We spent two amazing days in their guest house and beautiful garden and we would have loved to stay longer. The house is a wonderful piece of wood architecture, rare materials and excellent distribution of space, the beds are a dream. We enjoyed the landscape and ocean view from the terrace, grasping oranges from the tree next to it. Not much need to move outside the garden during your stay, and we even found a lot of tasty fruit and things to eat in the kitchen waiting for us. Worth its price!

  • I booked this for a girlfriend retreat at the last minute and David was super responsive. David & Monica's Guest home is one the sweetest places on Earth - a rare mix of beauty, climate and quiet that come together to make for an incredible retreat. The site is extraordinary with it's sweeping views to the Pacific and Channel Islands. The surrounding countryside of California coastal chaparral is breathtaking. The cultivated gardens, lovingly designed and maintained by David & Monica, are truly magnificent....abundant roses, citrus, sage, jasmine, grapes, cactus & exotic succulents. There are lovely places to hang out and relax, and then of course the sunsets from the Guest home front porch are sublime! The Guest house itself is cozy, clean and comfortable. The welcome basket of goodies exemplifies the generosity of spirit and thoughtfulness that these hosts provide in this remarkable place. And oh yes, the beach and town of Carpinteria is a nice counterpoint to Santa Barbara - small & friendly local folks. I look forward to returning here sometime.

  • Everything was perfect! The guest house and the grounds of the property are just beautiful! They are like pulled out of a magazine. We even had an impromptu photo session during one of our walks. It was the perfect weekend getaway for my best friend and I. We just wished the weekend was longer! Thanks David!

  • Our stay with David and Monica was utterly perfect. The pictures and reviews on this profile most certainly let it shine, but the experience in 3D was MORE relaxing and MORE magical and created even MORE profound get-a-way moments than we could have ever asked for. Exceptional hosts couldn't even scratch the surface- David and Monica went above and beyond to make their cozy guesthome feel like ours for our brief-but-lasting vacation.
We most certainly will be back!

  • I don't think words can even describe how incredible it was to stay at this beautiful place! A few friends and I were in need of a relaxing getaway, and got way more than we expected. Monica and David were so lovely and hospitable and we loved getting to talk with them and hear about the town and the property. Everywhere you look, there is beauty and peace. The flowers and fruit trees fill the air with the loveliest scents, the views are incredible! The house was stocked with everything we could want or need and was so cozy and comfortable. We didn't want to leave! Also, the small coastal town of Carpenteria is adorable and the people are so friendly.
Suffice it to say, we will all be coming back! Thank you, David and Monica!

Monica and I have lived in Southern California all of our lives. We have been married for 40 years and have two grown children. Monica is a master gardener and works around the property to keep it looking beautiful. David is an avid Golfer and Bicyclist. We enjoy great food and use what we grow in our cooking as much as possible. We built our home and guest home in 2006 using reclaimed materials as much as possible to give it a unique quality. We enjoy traveling and have been to many different countries around the world. We feel we live in one of the most beautiful locations in the world and would enjoy sharing it with others. Recently we planted a small vineyard and soon hope to offer our guests a complimentary tasting. Our small farm is home to us and a retreat to all who come visit with us.
