5 Star Oceanview GuestHome Retreat

House - Entire home/apt · Shepard Mesa Dr, Carpinteria, CA 93013, United States

The Space

Puesta Del Sol Farms is nestled at the foothills of southern Santa Barbara County. With it's captivating views of the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands, this charmingly rustic guest home with beautiful hardwood floors and high vaulted wooden ceilings, built in 2006, sits on 4 pastoral acres surrounded by gardens, fruit, citrus and avocado orchards and even its own small vineyard where Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes are grown. If a quiet idyllic retreat is what you’re after, this location has it all. Strolling along pathways will lead you through beautiful native landscapes, a rose garden with heirloom and rare varieties of blooms, and a grape arbor with picnic tables to enjoy a wonderful outdoor meal or snack, all with a view through to the Pacific Ocean. While you’re there, stop over and say hello to the chickens or head down to the vegetable garden and gather up a few snacks. Depending on the season, there are abundant fruit trees from which to grab a quick treat--fig, orange, pomegranate, peach, apple, apricots and more. Or just sit on your veranda with a glass of local wine and enjoy another incredible sunset. But no matter where you are on this property you will feel the timelessness of this sacred land, which used to be home to the Chumash Indians, surrounded and nurtured by the sheer beauty of the Santa Ynez mountains hugging the expansive Pacific ocean.

Inside the cottage, the luxuries of a 5-star hotel await.

The two bedrooms both offer luxurious and comfortable beds and linens. No need to bring your own pillows, ours are as good as they get.

The bathroom is fully stocked with all the amenities you will need for your stay.

The kitchenette has all the utensils and appliances to cook a hot meal or just a great cup of coffee. All utensils including dishes, cups and silverware. Basic supplies like sugar, salt, pepper. Cleaning supplies like paper towels, dish soap etc. (see complete list of appliances in House Rules.)

The living room boasts comfy couches where you can sit and enjoy a fire from the wood burning stove, watch a movie on a 40 inch flat screen TV, listen to your favorite tunes on our IHome docking station or just curl up with a good book.

The house is equipped with wireless internet, heating and air conditioning and over 200 channels of satellite TV.

We are located amongst the most beautiful outdoor recreational areas in the world.

Minutes away are one fabulous beach after another: Rincon, Carpinteria State Beach, the worlds safest beach, or West Beach (between the Santa Barbara wharf and marina), just to name a few.

Right outside your door you can get your daily exercise doing a 2 to 4 mile loop around the mesa.

Just down the street is Hwy 192, one of the most beautiful bicycling routes in Santa Barbara County.

If golf is your game, there are 5 courses within a 25 minute drive.

Take a short jaunt on nearby Hwy 150 to the artistic and spiritual community of Ojai and Casitas Lake.

Downtown Santa Barbara or Downtown Ventura are just a 15 minute drive and some of the best wineries in Central California are only a 45 minute car ride away. And the quaint little town of Carpinteria is just minutes away by car. You’ll find small unique shops and restaurants with friendly owners and plenty of other interesting places to explore.

No matter what you do, your stay will be an experience you won’t soon forget!

  • Our stay with David and Monica was utterly perfect. The pictures and reviews on this profile most certainly let it shine, but the experience in 3D was MORE relaxing and MORE magical and created even MORE profound get-a-way moments than we could have ever asked for. Exceptional hosts couldn't even scratch the surface- David and Monica went above and beyond to make their cozy guesthome feel like ours for our brief-but-lasting vacation.
We most certainly will be back!

  • I don't think words can even describe how incredible it was to stay at this beautiful place! A few friends and I were in need of a relaxing getaway, and got way more than we expected. Monica and David were so lovely and hospitable and we loved getting to talk with them and hear about the town and the property. Everywhere you look, there is beauty and peace. The flowers and fruit trees fill the air with the loveliest scents, the views are incredible! The house was stocked with everything we could want or need and was so cozy and comfortable. We didn't want to leave! Also, the small coastal town of Carpenteria is adorable and the people are so friendly.
Suffice it to say, we will all be coming back! Thank you, David and Monica!

  • We had such a magical stay at David and Monica's lovely Cabin. It truly was 5 star worthy. The beds were heavenly, the view was spectacular and the property was exactly as pictured. The welcome basket was greatly appreciated and more than we expected! Wine, fresh fruit and jam, muffins and much more. The cabin is the ideal place to get away and charge your batteries, and David and Monica were excellent hosts. We will be back!

  • We had a fantastic stay at the Fishman's guesthouse. Quiet, private, beautifully designed and landscaped, the house and grounds were the perfect place for a quiet family getaway. From the Fishman's, it's easy to get to the beach, to some good restaurants in Carpinteria, a great little CA town, and to some smaller inland towns like Ojai and Los Olivos where we also ate well and felt like we were very far from our busy lives in Los Angeles. Highly recommended!!!

  • Davis and Monica have a wonderful plot of land with incredible gardens and views. The guest house was a 5 star set up, it has all the amenities you would expect and many you wouldn't; very comforting. I highly recommend staying here.

  • David was great, the place was amazing. The smell from the orange trees is second to none, it's too bad you can't smell it on this site! You are missing out.

All the details were addressed, right down to the electric orange juice machine. You can make your own :)

  • Where do I even begin! I was looking for a peaceful retreat for my family and got that and more! Their home was so cozy we didn't want to leave. We ordered takeout just so we could enjoy his garden and the view of the ocean. His has a large garden with many different type of fruits, unfortunately, we came at the wrong time and most of the fruit trees were bare. Fortunately for us, this means we'll need to make a return visit! His listing is only a 30-40 minute drive to vineyards in Los Olivos and Solvang, a 10 minute drive to Carpinteria and 20 minutes to Santa Barbara. It was really convenient for us to get around. David was also very prompt in answering to my inquiries and checking in to make sure we had all that we needed (suggestions of vineyards to visit, places to eat, etc.) What a great host and listing. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

  • Where do we begin? David & Monica were the perfect hosts. They met us upon arrival and gave us a tour of their beautiful ranch estate. The views were overwhelming, as was the serenity of the area. When we entered the guest home, we were greeted with an abundance of organic fruits and vegetables that they had hand picked for us from their gardens, along with other various items from the grocery store such as coffee, milk, yogurt, and the basics. The accommodations were better than expected, and they allowed us to freely roam their ranch and pick from their gardens, always respecting our privacy. On our last night, they brought over some homemade guacamole made straight from the avocado trees on the estate. YUM! We were truly sad to leave. Five Star Guest Home needs to be changed to Five Diamond Retreat! We plan on seeing them again next summer, and the next, and the next! Save your dimes. In the guesthouse for your enjoyment is a fun, antique dime slot machine and you just might hit the $20.00 jackpot! (Fifty years ago, that was HUGE)!

Monica and I have lived in Southern California all of our lives. We have been married for 40 years and have two grown children. Monica is a master gardener and works around the property to keep it looking beautiful. David is an avid Golfer and Bicyclist. We enjoy great food and use what we grow in our cooking as much as possible. We built our home and guest home in 2006 using reclaimed materials as much as possible to give it a unique quality. We enjoy traveling and have been to many different countries around the world. We feel we live in one of the most beautiful locations in the world and would enjoy sharing it with others. Recently we planted a small vineyard and soon hope to offer our guests a complimentary tasting. Our small farm is home to us and a retreat to all who come visit with us.
