About this listing
Welcome! My home is a wonderful oceanfront traditional cottage set on a half-acre in a small fishing village with ocean views galore. It’s peaceful and quiet with a beach at each of the village and access to the strand below.
Imagine yourself waking up hearing and seeing the Atlantic Ocean from your bedroom which is suitable for a single person or a couple. For your comfort, there’s pure cotton bed linen and towels, and feather pillows and duvet. There’s a wardrobe, and a small chest of drawers.
This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and the ever changing ocean and sky.
Although beautifully remodeled to have some of the modern conveniences of the 21st century, the older part of the house still retains the charms of a seaside cottage of yesteryear with picture rails and fireplaces in the bedrooms.
The dining room/sun room with 20’ of windows gives you have a front row seat of the ocean with 180 degree views of the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands and on a clear day the 12 Pins of Galway. It’s a lovely way to slow down and watch the ever changing landscape. In the summer, it’s also great to sit outside with a picnic and watch the sun setting in the west.
There‘s central heating which takes the chill off first thing in the morning or upon your return. There is also a peat burning Stanley stove which keeps the cottage warm and supplements the central heating.
There's a large, updated kitchen with a ceramic stove top and convection oven, washer/dryer and dishwasher. You’re welcome to use the kitchen or make tea or coffee.
This is a great base to explore unspoiled west Clare or to visit nearby counties Limerick, Kerry or Galway. Shannon Airport is just an hour away.
If you enjoy walking, hiking, surfing, playing golf or relaxing with a pint or a cup of tea while listening to Irish music, you’ve come to the right place.
You will have access to the shared dining room and sitting/reading room, kitchen, bathroom, garden and the strand below.
You can use the kitchen to cook. Help yourself to tea/coffee.
There’s wi-fi, off street parking as well as some ordinance maps, books and information about the local area.
There is a small fee for using the washer or dryer.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

I like people and am happy to talk with you. This is your trip, vacation, holiday so the amount of interaction is up to you as I want you to feel comfortable and enjoy your stay.
It’s very tranquil and quiet in and around the house. The sky and ocean are ever changing; the light is incredible especially during the long summer evenings. Being in the village, you can walk to the village shop/post office for a latte or a paper in the morning. There’s also a church and a pub with music during the summer. The two beaches at each end of the village are within walking distance for a relaxing stroll and the strand below the house is great for exploring rock pools.
There’s a number of fabulous cliff walks and beaches nearby.
You can enjoy nearby majestic sites such as the Loop Head Peninsula, the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.
The world-famous Willie Clancy week is just five minutes’ drive up the road in Miltown Malbay and there are loads of other music festivals all around.
There are two top 100 links golfs courses’ just 10 minutes away at Lahinch and Trump International, (formerly Doonbeg).
For those foodies among you, you can go on a forage tour, go to farmers’ markets and savour locally sourced food in many of the restaurants around.
If you want some pampering, there are excellent spas (Tatler Ireland’s Best Masseuse 2013 is just 10 minutes away.)
It’s all on your doorstep. Just let me know what you like and I can give you the inside scoop on my neighbourhood!
You will definitely need a car or some sort of transport to get around.
Other Things to Note
I'd suggest a two night minimum stay so that you have a chance to relax, slow down and soak up your stunning surroundings and breathe in some fresh sea air.
My home is open to one or two guests. For one guest, my policy is women only and a two night minimum.
No smoking, no pets. If you use the kitchen, please leave it as you found (website hidden) to be finished by 8:30 p.m. The bathroom and kitchen are all tile, so as I’ve learned you need to be careful with glass or ceramics. Let me know if anything breaks, isn't working or if you don’t know how to work something.
Check in time is 3 p.m. to about 8 p.m. (We can discuss what time.) Check out time is noon. Occasionally, I may not be available to greet you but will make arrangements for someone to meet and show you around.
We were very welcome at Linda's house. We had nice talks and got an excellent breakfast.
Linda is such a kind person- we loved spending time getting to know her and hearing her fantastic stories. Her house has the best view we've seen during our travels and we were able to enjoy a few days of gorgeous sunsets from the panoramic windows. We enjoyed leisurely breakfasts and super soft sheets in the comfy bed. Ask Linda about the cliff walk from Kilkee and for great restaurant recommendations... we especially loved the restaurant and pub at the Armada. Highly recommended if you want a place to fully relax and unwind.
This wonderful cottage is great! The view is just absolutely crazy, hard to believe, but still it's true :-).
The welcoming Linda gave us in her home was very warm, and we immediately felt at home. The amount of tips about the area (Quilty is an ideal base-camp to discover the West of Ireland such as the Cliffs of Moher) she gave us was amazing, and the breakfast she made us was delicious!
The cottage is clean and has a cozy feel to it. Oh, and I loved the warm bath!!
We definitely recommend to stay with Linda!!
Jasper, thanks so much for your great recommendation and review! Let me say, the feeling’s mutual - having the chance to meet and have you and Stefanie stay was a wonderful experience all around for me. I loved the energy of both of you! You have my very best wishes for your futures and you’re welcome back any time. Linda
Linda was very welcoming and informative. The accommodation was exactly as described and suited us very well. It was nice to be able to use her kitchen for occasional cups of tea. We enjoyed our short stay very much. Breakfasts were particularly good. Sea views fantastic and mesmeric.
Linda hat uns sehr herzlich aufgenommen und viele Insidertipps gegeben. Der Blick auf den Ozean ist wirklich fantastisch. Quilty ist ein ruhiges Örtchen - gut gelegen unweit der Cliffs of Moher.
Linda captures the very essence of an Irish B & B. She and her home are warm and inviting, and she offers the very best of Irish hospitality. Great conversation, gorgeous breakfast on both morning, and lots of local knowledge that made our trip really special.
Her home is located right beside the ocean with spectacular views. And the location is perfect for travelling north to Lahinch, Fanore and Ballyvuaghan and the Burren or south to Kilkee and the Loop Head Peninsula.
We were really sorry to leave, it felt like we had been visiting a friend.
Catherine & Vincent
Thank you very much for a lovely review. It was very touching to read your words about the essence and the offering of Irish hospitality which I believe, at its’ finest, is second to none.
I’m glad your trip was special and I’m glad to have had a hand in it. Of course the host needs guests and so the reciprocity is a two way street. I want to thank you and Vincent for coming to stay and giving me a chance to meet you on life’s journey. Your openness and lightness made it very easy to be comfortable with you both – like friends, I believe you said and I agree. Best wishes, Linda
Thank you Linda for the very amazing time at your home, for your recommondations and for welcome us so friendly! We has a great and funny time!
About the Host, Linda
Having recently moved to the west coast of Clare after many years in the US, I’m delighted to share this beautiful spot with travellers coming to Ireland. This was my grandmother’s house and I visited every summer. (My parents were both Irish and I grew up in London.)
I love the natural beauty of the landscape here, and particularly living so close to the ocean. The ocean and sky are ever changing and quite phenomenal.
I also love travelling and meeting people from all over the world and learning about new cultures. So now that I’m living here, it seems like a very natural thing to invite travellers to stay and experience this special place too.
Like most people, I’m fairly eclectic. My background is in video and communications. I enjoy the Arts – a good movie, plays, art galleries, reading and writing. I also enjoy nature, walking, gardening, camping in US National Parks is great too. Other interests are popular culture, music and dancing. I love learning. I’m also a foodie; and enjoy a good meal, a good glass of wine as well as good company.
So if you’d like to unwind in a lovely place by the ocean that feels more like a home away from home with a more relaxed vibe and more space than a B&B or hotel, welcome!
