It is in a particularly quiet area for sleeping (some areas of downtown Cancun music is late at night, or traffic noise in the morning), my neighborhood is safe to walk at the day or night without problems, there are lots of greenery and gardens. But it is also close to everything, taxis are cheap (2 dollars) and there are buses that take you to beaches, bus station and elsewhere. You can walking to the movies, breakfast, eat, soccer stadium, shop or go to the market.
Discount offers are not applicable for dates of Christmas, New Year and Easter.
Walter was a wonderful host! He kept me informed prior to my arrival; met me on arrival and provided information and literature to further enhance my stay. Since I enjoy staying with 'locals' I plan to return and enjoy Cancun next year! Inexpensive cab and or bus fare and friendly people always add to a wonderful trip. Beats a resort hands down! Walter also recommended some fabulous vegan fare and local markets.
Walter was an admirable host. Eventhough he's not feeling very well the night of my arrival, he still waited until I arrived which was very late because it fell on the day a lot of flights were cancelled or were severely delayed due to the ice storm that hit Toronto. Thanks for being patient, Walter.
The room reserved was clean and orderly, with a map waiting for my personal use so I can get around the area easier just pinpointing locations on the map with the taxi driver. It feels more than homey because I don't get that kind of waking up to the sound of bird songs in my own home in Toronto even in the summer! I love it!
Although the location is a bit far off from the Centro where I originally want to locate, the taxi fare going to ADO is so cheap at 25 pesos everytime, even up to Playa Tortugas - where I liked to use the public beach.
Walter's casa is highly recommended to whoever is intending to stay in Cancun, whether for short or long stay. Will not hesitate to use his house again next time.
Apologies to Walter if this feedback is a bit late.
Cheap room in a warm house with a warm host. I felt at home. Walter is an interesting and helpfull guy, I really enjoyed my stay and recommend this place. The price is good and there are bus wich drive you wherever you want, at few meters.
I don't think I've ever had a more gracious host, especially for a room that cost just $11/night! Walter emailed me detailed directions for getting to his place from the airport, which really took a lot of stress out of my first visit to Mexico in 20 years. When I arrived he gave me a map to the city, and he circled a few great places for me to try. At every turn he was gracious and accommodating. He speaks good English, knows Cancun inside out, and is an incredibly nice guy. Note that his small room doesn't have air conditioning or cross-ventilation, which would make it unworkable during the hot months of the year since it won't get cool at night. But with that in mind, I've got no complaints and I can't imagine a better, cheaper, and easier place for a visitor to Cancun to land, whether for the sake of a few days' budget vacation, or as a place to look around for longer term accommodations;.
I stayed in a small single room. Okay for budget traveller. but next time I will take a studio there.
Walter is a very nice person, very helpful with everything you can come up with.
Close to everything and busses everywhere. I would recomend it to friends.
And, I liked the Little garden/patio where I could sit in the shade with my laptop.
Walter is a very good host! Unfortnately it was my first time in Mexico and in Cancun and my Spanisch was not really good (what was not problem, because Walter speaks a good English!). So i didn't stay for the whole time, instead i traveled further to Mérida.
Nevertheless, Walter is a very helpful host and there everytime you need him!
Walter is very responsible and attentive host. He gave the exact recommendations how to get to his house from the airport which were very usefull for me because I was first time in Cancun. The room was very clean, handsome and stylish. I enjoyed staying in his house.
I stayed at Walters single Room for my first week in Mexico.
The room was nice and clean - small but really enough if you don't need a Kitchen.
The little Garden is really nice, I sat there the evenings and nights when I wanted to learn a little Spanish.
The area is safe and you have a supermarket (if need more things than from the oxxo) like 10 minutes ago.
There are also a nice Park nearby (5-10 min by foot), just ask Walter for directions.
And if you walk 5-10 minutes further than the park, you find two restaurants/places to eat. On my last day I tried the breakfast at Cherrys (I think) and it was really good omelette.
There are other restaurant behind the park, but I didn't tried them.
If you have any question, you can just ask Walter. He was really friendly and we had a lot fun talking together and giving tips, what to visit. He even took me to a nice little restaurant, which only locals use to have some yukatan food.
I really liked the place and the area.
For a traveler like me this was the perfect place to stay. Walter was very helpful in showingme around, and explaining how ro use the bus system. As soon as I arrived, I took a walk with Walter and learned alot about the neiborhood I would be staying in.I hope I can visit again, and if I take friends I will introduce them to my new friend Walter. Thanks so much.
