Interaction with Guests
We are available 24/7 for any queries or concerns of guests.
The neighbours are very friendly and helpful. For an off the beaten track, true Bajan experience of the island. Most importantly the beach is your front garden, steps from the apartment. Restaurants and shopping are nearby and the main city Bridgetown is just five mins away by car.
Buses going all over the island are accessible close by. Taxis are also close by.
This is my home, and I hope you will also enjoy staying here.
Please make arrangements with my neighbors for the keys well in advance and make sure to return the keys safely to them.
Please maintain security. Keep your belongings safe inside, and lock the doors and windows when you go out.
I would appreciate it if you would leave the flat as you find it, nice and clean for the next person.
Please let me know as soon as there is any problem - I will deal with it right away.
As I may be out of the country it is important to me that you communicate any issues to me and maintain communication with me in a reliable and responsible way.
Towels and sheets are provided for your convenience, as well as all amenities to make your stay convenient and satisfying. Please do not take them out of the apartment, and please leave them to be washed for use by the next guests.
Because of the high cost of electricity in Barbados please note that there is an additional charge for the use of the air conditioning -- it is 10USD a day.
I would be grateful if you would water my veranda plants daily with the garden hose that is in front of the house. Thank you so much!!!
LEAVING: Please leave the keys in the mailbox (as discreetly as posible) and let my contact Andrea know by telephone what time you are leaving in advance so that she can make arrangements to collect them.
I think thats it.
THANK YOU!!! HAVE A GREAT STAY
Super spot. Big place, lots space, well kitted out kitchen etc. great swimming beach, although it's a little industrial around there.
Walking distance to supermarket, city, cricket ground etc. not actually on the main bus route but buses are just 5 min walk away.
This isn't a honeymoon villa but was clean and colourful with good wooden floors and lots of towels and linen etc. Was great value for money also.
Fantastic place, the property manager Andrea was super friendly, helpful and a pleasure to meet. Gwyneth was very patient with me while I dealt with my credit card issue with airbnb. I had to extend my stay by a day and it was a smooth easy process. The beach is literally your backyard. Flat C was spacious with a huge kitchen. Typical Bajan home for a reasonable price! Not many people talk about this beach but I strongly believe it is one of the best beaches in Barbados, white sand and clear calm water. Mount Gay Factory is walking distance and has a great selection of rum, guided tours and great lunch. Wisers is just down the street and Carlton (grocery store) is up the hill. Thanks again for everything!
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Our stay at Gwyneths place was great! We were welcomes by house manager Andrea who was wonderful and extremely helpful for the duration.
The apartment is spacious but basic, providing most essentials you will need for your stay. We disagreed with some reviews which said the house was unbearably hot, we visited during April and although it was very warm during the day, the night time breeze along with the celine fans kept us very comfortable and we didn't feel the need to pay extra for the air con.
The real selling point is the location. The beach at the back of the house is simply beautiful and very private, away from the tourists riddled areas. There is a large super market 5 minutes walk away and a bus stop with great connections 2 minutes on from there.
The neighbours are super friendly and helpful, however we were always very careful to keep valuables behind locked doors as they would be an easy steal should the wrong person be passing through.
he value for money of this property is on point! We were extremely pleased.
Thanks so much Andrea and Gwyneth!
We chose the flat because of its location – next to the sea, close to Bridgetown and convenient for visiting cricket grounds – and it met all of these prerequisites. The flat is not luxurious but most things worked okay. We were initially shocked by the view from the veranda. The next door house, close by to the front right, is abandoned and falling into ruin. However, Andrea made us feel very welcome and all her help and advice made our 2 week stay easy and very enjoyable. The Carlton supermarket is a 10 minute walk away and is open until late at night. Local sim cards can be bought next to the supermarket. Buses and ZR vans run by here. Virtually nothing on the restaurant side within easy walking distance of the flat except Weiser’s which shuts most nights at 6 pm. Malibu/Cockspur Beach Bar has closed down. At night we found taxis most convenient but not cheap. Paradise Beach Taxis (Andrew) is close by and gave us a good service.
NOT A HAPPY STAY! The location at Brighton Beach is great but the property is run down. Two people could stay there providing you spend very little time inside. There is a smell of sewage. A problem with cockroaches. Gwyneth was not helpful. It's cheap but not worth the compromise!
My wife and I had been in Barbados for 4 weeks. We had visited the Island to attend the birth of our niece (my sisters daughter). We spent the first 2 weeks of our visit staying with my sister along with our 3 children aged 7, 6 and 1.
We booked Gwyneth's place as my parents were flying out for the second part of our trip and they would need the double bed we had been using. Our plan was to use Gwyneth's home as a place to rest our heads in the evenings as our intention was to spend as much time as possible with our family in Fitts Village. Plus, my wife and I have stayed at Gwyneth's place before with our infant and the second room seemed too hot for our other two kids. They would stay with their Grandparents in the evening and occasional use the master bedroom for an afternoon nap when at the beach.
I mentioned that we had children in passing when asking for the AC. We planned to spend some time on Brighton Beach and thought they might want to have a rest from the sun in the day.
As we had just made the booking for two adults given our intention for the children to stay with friends and family, Gwyneth took this an opportunity to charge us more for having 2 other children. Even though I explained to her that they would not be staying there at night.
Since we had stayed there 3 months before with our 1 year old we understood the property was run down. However our budget was tight.
Gwyneth's Chief Executive Officer, Frances-Anne Solomon, said we needed to pay $680BBD ($400BBD for the kids plus $280BBD for the AC). I didn't feel comfortable with the $400BBD so I messaged Gwyneth to further explain our situation and that the kids could just stay all day with their Grandparents.
Here's when things turned soar... She demanded we pay her $1630!!!!! I couldn't believe it. She was clearly trying to intimidate us into paying her extra despite our situation.
We ended up paying her assistant Andrea $680BBD and Gwyneth left us alone for the rest of our stay.
However, on our return Gwyneth messaged us to say that we had broken plates and cups and that we had blocked her kitchen sink. She demanded we pay her $278.00 BBD... We didn't break anything... We spent very little time there and certainly did not block any kitchen sink.
We loved our stay in Barbados and being with our family. We loved the time we spent on Brighton Beach. However, we can not recommend Gwyneth or her home.
FORTUNATELY MANY GUESTS HAVE STAYED WITH US AND HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. This is the second time Mr Quaye visited, and it was not a good experience for us. This kind of guest is a nightmare for hosts as they are very selfish, self centred and seem out to take advantage of you from the start. If you value your home, then I would avoid this guest completely. On the day Mr Quaye and his wife were due to arrive, he "accidentally" disclosed that his 3 children were also coming with him. Our listing clearly states that each additional person is an additional cost. However he had not disclosed or paid for them. When I requested payment from Mr Quaye he stated that himself and his wife did not see why they needed to pay for their children. It was only when I registered a formal complaint to Airbnb that he agreed to pay a portion of the costs. As I was not in Barbados during his stays, on enquiry I discovered that on his previous visit, not only his children but his entire extended family who live on the island also stayed at the apartment and used the air con and washing machine like a public facility; that during both visits the front door and windows were frequently left open, and the air conditioning was left running all day. After they left we had to pay for an emergency plumber to unclog the sink as garbage and food were washed down the drain. Several shower curtain rings were removed presumably by the children and are missing/ need to be replaced; dirty dishes were left in the cupboard. And on and on.
We had a marvelous stay in your home, thanks Gwyneth. The house is right on the beach, which we believe is the most beautiful beach on the island (secluded, white sand and clear (email hidden)azing!!!). The house is located close to a supermarket and a 10min bus journey takes you to Bridgetown. The neighbours (in particular Andrea and Hugh) are very friendly and helpful. Very reasonably priced too. We will definitely come again. All the best,
Lumi, Lory and Michael xx
