Interaction with guests

During the spring and the summer I am out of town and the rental is a sublet. At other times I share the duplex and interact with the guests who are in my home, as much as the guests want. I am helpful about local restaurants, shops, transportation, cultural, art and outdoor events. I enjoy meeting new people.

The neighborhood

This is a friendly neighborhood in a lively community. Park Slope has become the second Manhattan with excellent restaurants, shops, art galleries, parks, cultural events, Barclay Center, the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Pk, the Botanic Garden all in walking distance.

Getting around

Subways to Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn are 3 short blocks away. Green taxis, Uber or a variety of car services will take you to Manhattan or any place you wish to go.

Other things to note

We are a family of 5 and stayed at Marion's traditional brownstone home for 2 weeks over Christmas. It is a great place to be located in Park Slope with restaurants, shops and Prospect Park nearby. Access to Manhattan is easy with the subway a short walk away (about 10 minutes).

Marion was an excellent host and was very responsive, both in planning and during our stay. The listing pictures and description were accurate. Marion's duplex is in a perfect location- on a beautiful block that is a short walk from the Barclays Center (where you can catch the subway to just about anywhere in NY)- and is very spacious (with plenty of room for our family of four over an extended stay). We have found airbnb places to vary from sterile places being operated as rentals to people's homes- both with positives and negatives. Marion's place is definitely someone's home- with lots of warmth and character but also a few quirks and plenty of stuff around. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend.

Of course it was a great experience! Marion was always attentive, providing us with useful infos around Brooklyn & Manhattan. Her house is pleasantly warm (just like herself) & near to a lot of delis, good food & thrift stores! 6-8 mins walk from either Bergen St or Barclays Centre station. We didn't get to cook with Marion, so we're hoping for a second visit ;) Thank you for having us! Much love from Malaysia.

We had a fantastic stay at Marion's apartment. She gave us lots of useful advice which helped steer us around New York on our first visit to the city. The rooms, apartment and yard were lovely, comfortable and sympathetically decorated complimenting the 100 year old apartments history. We especially enjoyed our time spent chatting with this wonderfully erudite women.

We really enjoyed to stay at Marion's home. The house looks like the pictures with a nice bedroom, a big kitchen with its terrace. The home is located in ParkSlop, in a quiet neighborhood, far from Manhattan's noises. Marion is a wonderful and welcoming host giving all usefull information for a nice stay. I was very pleased of this first Airbnb experience. If you want to visit New-York, I highly recommend Marion's house. Thank you Marion :-)

We truly enjoyed staying at Marion's gorgeous Park Slope home, and hope to stay there again next time we're in town! The house: cosy and homey feel with beautiful hardwood floors, sunlit rooms, walls decorated with great artwork, and equipped with everything you might need. The kitchen/dining area is a wonderful area to have some coffee in the morning with the sun coming in through the big windows. The bedroom is spacious and quiet, perfect place to relax after walking around the city all day! The backyard is a quiet sanctuary away from the noise of the city, very peaceful area surrounded by plants and trees. The neighborhood: very safe and great location which is a 5min walk to the Atlantic Terminal (has subway lines to Manhattan as well as other parts of Brooklyn). The street itself is beautifully lined with trees and brownstones, great to walk around or to sit out on the stoop. Plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance on 5th and 6th street. Prospect Park is also close by and definitely worth checking out on the weekend. The host: Marion was wonderfully sweet and helpful. She was very welcoming and accommodating, helping us with subway lines and any other questions we had about the city. She made sure we had everything we needed and was always within reach if needed, all while giving us privacy. She's also very interesting and fun to talk to, so don't leave the place without sitting down with her on the stoop in the evening for a chat! She made our stay super comfortable, and we'll definitely be staying here next time we're in town!

Marion was the perfect host. She was in communication with us prior to arrival and gave us a tour of her home and amenities when we arrived. The Park Slope area has everything you could want including restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, etc. Marion's home is a block away from all the conveniences and a short walk to the Barclay Center and subway. Thank you Marion!

Response from Marion:
In the bathroom there is a supply of 12 wash cloths and 8 hand towels on the open, visible shelf, available for use. I'm sorry you did not notice.

I have been retired for 8 years. This allows me to spend time working on my botanical art and taking art classes. When I am not doing that I enjoy the richness of NYC culture: museums, movies, theater, and parks. Part of the year I spend in Vermont where gardening becomes an important part of my life. I am responsible and ethical in my relations with others. I enjoy having visitors spend time in my home.
