About This Listing
Visiting family or friends in Park Slope or the Marathon? A bedroom rental in the apartment I live in, is comfortable and homey and will be near them.
A second bedroom for 2 people is also available at an additional charge.
You will have easy access to Manhattan and interesting parts of Brooklyn.
This bedroom is spacious and has a double bed. A third person can also be accommodated in a separated alcove that has a comfortable pull out couch. You will find a music collection, art works, interesting textiles, a tile collection and books throughout. The plants I cultivate create an indoor "garden". There is also a lovely outdoor garden surrounded by 25 foot bamboo plants that sway in the wind and provide a screen from the neighbors behind this duplex. There is WiFi and cable TV.
There are many restaurants of various ethnic origins (Mexican, Thai, Italian, Portuguese, Israeli, Japanese...) around the corner on 5th Avenue or you can use my well equipped kitchen. In warm weather there is a deck next to the kitchen where you can have your morning coffee or you might want to prepare a leisurely meal to eat on the deck or in the garden.
My home is on one of the lovely Park Slope blocks, filled with trees and friendly neighbors.
Not only will your family or friends be nearby but so will interesting small shops, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, the Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Heights, Williamsburg and other interesting parts of Brooklyn. The nearby subways will take you to Manhattan in 1/2 hour.
$150/per night +.
Guests renting bedrooms may use the kitchen, dining room, deck and garden as well as the w/d, if they wish.
Interaction with Guests
I interact with guests, who are staying with me, as much as the guests want. I can be helpful about restaurants, shops, transportation, cultural, art and outdoor events. I enjoy meeting new people.
This is a friendly neighborhood in a lively community. It is becoming the second Manhattan with excellent restaurants, shops, art galleries, parks, and cultural events.ail
Subways to Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn are 3 short blocks away. The new green taxis that will take you to Manhattan or elsewhere, are increasingly seen on the neighborhood streets

No smoking in the house, no pets. Friendly environment.
Marion was an amazing host! She welcomed us kindly, gave us keys which allowed us to come and go as we pleased. Plus, she gave us spot-on directions to the Subway and the comletely accurate lines to take to get to the sights we wanted to see! The rooms is exactly like the picture and the artwork in her home and neighborhood is eclectic and so cool. She lives in a beautiful, safe & friendly neighborhood of brownstones! My Mother, Sister and I were very pleased! Thank you, Marion!
This is the second time I've stayed with Marion in Park Slope and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. Marion is an excellent host and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable in her lovely old brownstone. The house has a lot of character, with wood floors (largely covered with nice oriental rugs) and well appointed with Marion's collection of art and antiques. The neighborhood is great. Her place is in walking distance of anywhere in Park Slope and only a few blocks from Flatbush Avenue and train and bus access to anywhere in the Brooklyn or the greater city. Thanks Marion!
Although I arrived late in the evening, Marion greeted me with a smile and welcomed me into her home. Her hospitality and warmth made me feel comfortable immediately. The bedroom was a very good size with nice linens, good closet space and charming furnishings. It was an ideal location for me and proved to be a terrific neighborhood close to shops, restaurants and transportation. Marion's home is wonderful. She even made coffee each morning and couldn't have been nicer. Having never stayed in an airbnb, I wasn't sure it was right for me but having Marion for my first host has sealed the deal. I would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking for charm, location and an inviting atmosphere. Marion respected my privacy yet the time we spent chatting was invaluable. She is knowledgeable about all things NY.
Marion and her apartment were wonderful. It was well located for our purposes, which included a Nets game at the Barcleys Center. The Center is just a few blocks away. There is also very easy access to Manhattan via Metro.
The description of the housing is very accurate. Marion is in the apartment as well, and there are certainly some shared spaces. However that was no problem for us at all, as Marion is easy to get along with and having her around can be helpful in terms of advice on logistics.
That's the second time I go to New York for holidays. I would definitely say that staying in Brooklyn at Marion's home made the experience even better! My sister, my friend and I felt very comfortable in her house. The place is great and is very well located. Marion is a very kind host and a very interisting person. She made us feel at ease from the beginning to the end of our trip. Highly recommended. And next time we go back to New York we'll turn back to Marion's place for sure!
We loved staying in Marion's house. She's a warm and welcoming host and a born and bred New Yorker. The house, itself, is beautifully decorated with art, textiles and tiles. I loved Marion's style. The location was great too. If you're after a place with a bit of character, I'd highly recommend Marion's house.

About the Host, Marion
I have been retired for 8 years. This allows me to spend time working on my botanical art and taking art classes. When I am not doing that I enjoy the richness of NYC culture: museums, movies, theater, and parks. Part of the year I spend in Vermont where gardening becomes an important part of my life. I am responsible and ethical in my relations with others. I enjoy having visitors spend time in my home.
