The Space

Chalet/Cabin in Cheshire - perfect for nature and animal lovers!

An ensuite chalet overlooking the Goyt valley in Cheshire. This cabin has all the comforts. It can accommodate 4 guests - suitable for groups or families. The chalet has one double bedroom with an ensuite shower room and a large living room, which can accommodate a kingsize mattress.

There's wifi. It is really well insulated and warmer than my house in winter! The chalet does not have a kitchen but there is a fridge-freezer, toaster and kettle. Guests are welcome to use my kitchen. There is a utility room next to the chalet with a washing machine and dryer.

The Chalet is located in the rolling hills of Cheshire, which is lush green in the summer and has plenty of snow in the winter. The chalet is set on 11 acres of land, which includes my house.

I originally built the chalet for my son to live in. He has since left home and just graduated from Oxford University. I didn't want it to sit empty, so I have made it available to Airbnb members.

There are 11 acres of land, full of a range of rare, pure breed poultry,
some already extinct, some not even on the internet. They include peacocks and peahens. If you are nature and animal lovers, this is the place for you!

Join me for a glass of red wine seeing the peacock dancing to attract his lady friends and on occasion watch the daring deer wandering round the garden.

Walking in Cheshire
One of the best ways to see this part of the world is on foot. We are located on the border of the famous Goyt Valley and the Roman Lakes. Although the Lakes might not have the strongest link to the Romans, it is still amazing to visit one of the most important sites of the Industrial Revolution in this part of the world. We are close to transport links for the rest of Derbyshire and the Peak District. We have plenty of National Trust parks, and our closest, Lyme Park is perhaps most famous for being the site of the 1990's television adaption of Pride and Prejudice.

Located close to Marple village, which provided the title for Agatha Christie's famous series, Strines also has excellent transport links to the center of Manchester. With regular trains and three nearby railway stations, it is just as easy to use our Chalet as a jumping point for a quiet city break as it is a country one! So whether you'd like to enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside or be close enough to enjoy everything Manchester has to offer, Strines is the place for you.

Cheers and have a wonderful day!

  • The Chalet has a lot to offer. It is situated in a beautiful garden with panoramic views of the Peak District. The weather was hot while we were there but the Chalet was lovely and cool. Though it does not have a kitchen it has a fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster, so it was very easy to make a nice breakfast there. A nice welcoming touch was a complementary bottle of wine. There was a misunderstanding in that I thought it had 2 beds but Minh said I should have told him beforehand, however in true AirBnB style he produced an air mattress and duvet. This was fine, only he did not provide sheets and as the duvet cover was not fresh this was disappointing.
Also though the rest of the shower room was clean the shower itself was not, this may have been an oversight but there is a cleaning fee. With a little extra care, the Chalet would be a lovely place to stay and ideal for exploring the Peak District.

  • Minh was an excellent host and I would go as far as saying I found him inspirational!!

He was unobtrusive but helpful and always available for a chat.

The Chalet was exactly as advertised.

    I would highly recommend.

  • I booked this lovely cottage for my brother and his girlfriend who were visiting me.
On arrival the host had left a bottle of wine to welcome them which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch.
The cottage was surprisingly big, plenty of room. The cottage is situated on the hosts grounds but it was actually very private. The host was not at all interfering, he let's you know he's on hand if you need him, it was like their own home away from home.
The area is very peaceful with shops, restaurants, takeaways, pubs and a lovely village cinema near by. They had such a lovely time and can't wait to come back again.

  • The location is excellent for trips into either the Peak District or Manchester and there is a canal with 10 minutes walk too. The chalet is cosy, though do note there is no kitchen and the shower is rather awkward to get into for larger people. The host is very welcoming and will sort out any problems you encounter.

  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend in Minh's garden cabin. Minh was a very warm and generous guest while it was nice to have the privacy of the chalet with it's own bathroom and TV.

How amazing to wake up to peacocks and a value-for-money base from which to explore the peak district.

  • We were really thrilled to stay in Minh's really great lodge & gardens. And, it was also nice to meet his really friendly dog & cat & to see the peacocks strutting round.

The location is perfect for the countryside with brilliant walks nearby. We actually ran round Marple locks – which are fantastic - & further along the canal.

There's great cafe's, pubs & a traditional cinema in Marple.

The lodge, gardens & the surrounding area have loads of character. The industrial heritage that Minh refers to is really impressive & hauntingly beautiful with 200 year mills set in picturesque gorges & fast flowing rivers.

It's also well located for trips out to, for example, Manchester etc.

We'd definitely stay in Minh's lodge again.

After decades of living and working in 4 continents I am back here early to retire. The house I live in is on the rolling hill of Cheshire, lush green in the summer and plenty of snow in the winter.
