Muskoka in the winter is a special place, often missed by those who only look for the summer getaways.
In the winter enjoy peaceful walks through the woods, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and close proximity to great skiing at Mt. Louis/Moonstone, and a huge circuit of snowmobiling trails.
The cottage is located only an hour and forty minute drive from Toronto, so it's quick and easy to get to, and you won't spend half your vacation or weekend fighting traffic.
Also, full cell reception is no problem, and high-speed internet is coming soon!
Port Severn and Coldwater are close drives and offer premium dining/spa services, as well as classic 5 pin bowling. A full guide of the cottage and surrounding amenities will be sent to you upon booking.

Interaction with Guests
I interact as much or as little as you'd like! Feel free to ask any questions you might have. I won't be present at the cottage during your stay, but will be available at all times.
Right on the water, right by the forest, less than two hours from Toronto and you are immersed in nature and peacefulness. In the summer, enjoy your own private dock and access to a canoe. In the winter, we are extremely close to most major ski hills, as well the extensive snowshoe/cross country trails of Wye Marsh.
The Ontario Northland Bus Service runs from Toronto to Port Severn twice a day.
Other Things to Note
Preference during high season will be given to longer reservations, I will try to get back to your request or question as quickly as possible!
1) Noise travels on water, so respectful speaking volumes after dark.
2) Lifejackets at all times while canoing or kayaking.
3) Observance of the area campfire status
4) Keep bottlecaps and glass out of the woods and water.
5) Watch either "The Lion King", or "Cool Runnings" on VHS. Preferably both.
A lovely winter cottage experience. Trevor & Matt have loads of games, a great kitchen and a warm inviting space. The lake is stunning and is probably x10 better in summer. Just be sure to expect to see your neighbours - thus us Muskoka after all.
I have been to few cottages in past and so far this one was the best experience. Cottage is beautifully located near six mile lake and isolated from all hustles of city. Its an excellent place to relax for couple of days. When we arrived in cottage it gave us nice, warm and cozy feeling. It was maintained well and has enough bedding for large group. My personal experience on dealing with Matt is also very good. He was very prompt in responding to my queries and was very courteous. I will definitely recommend this cottage especially for large group.
Trevor and Matt have such a lovely property. It had a warm and cozy feel to it. The backyard had a picturesque, winter scene and some of us took a stroll on the frozen lake. The cottage was well equipped and everything was functional. We felt like guests in a home rather than renters of cottage. There was a TV, movies, speakers, boardgame collection and fully stocked kitchen. We cooked communal dinners and slept really well in comfortable bedrooms with towels provided. We were put at east as Matt gave us contact info where we could reach him easily before and during the trip. We also got an informative guide about the cottage and things to do in the surrounding area. Really great trip without any glitches! Thanks again Matt and Trevor :-)
The cottage was a delight. The perfect home base for a winter cabin weekend with eight women who love the outdoors. We had an awesome time cross-country skiiing at the nearby Wye March, and enjoyed cozy movie watching time on the big couch when we wanted some down time. Everyone slept great whether in the main house or the bunkie, and we all commented on the fact that we'd love to come back and rent the cottage again sometime!
The house and surrounding lake views are lovely. We were there in the winter and had gorgeous deep snow to play in. The house is well equipped for cooking and entertainment. We traveled with two elementary school aged kids who enjoyed the Wii and playing in the snow. We also had our toddler with us - bring your own high chair and toys and portable crib (we checked the listing carefully and saw it didn't have these items so we went prepared and overall the space was great for our young son).
The hosts were prompt to reply to emails and very helpful. We never saw them but we enjoyed the privacy and felt they left everything set up nicely for us.
We had a lovely New Year's family holiday (6 adults and a toddler) at the Campbell's cottage. The emails from Matt were helpful and timely, and he provided good directions and instructions for using the features of the cottage. Even though it was very cold outside, the main cottage was cozy: we brought 2 beds in from the bunkie so we could all be together. Everything worked properly, and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking and eating. We went for some wintry outings on the trails at 6 Mile Lake Park and on the snowy roads near the cottage. The pictures show the cottage very accurately: the only disappointing surprise was that the cottage next door was very close and imposing. Recommended for a fun, active holiday.
The cottage was just as described. We really enjoyed our visit there this winter. The interior was clean and filled with lots of board games and movies to watch. The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware and utensils, and we were able to cook good meals while we were there. The scenery is quite beautiful and overall we had a relaxing time. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Two Canadian brothers who are adventurers from Toronto looking to explore! Looking forward to meeting interesting people and discovering lots of new places!
Very friendly, responsible, tidy and respectful - but very tired of staying in cookie-cutter hotels that aren't worth the price.
