“The Seldom Inn is one of the oldest house in the ‘Sconset historical district.
The oldest part of the structure originally stood on the bank, near the gully, and belonged to Ichabod Aldrich who sold it to captain George W. Coffin for $30. It was removed from the bank at the time of the October gale in 1841 and set up on its present site" (R.B. Hussey, Nantucket Inquirer & Mirror Press, 1954).
