Stone house of the XIXth century in a charming hamlet. A 2 steps from the river and hiking trails. A very pretty garden extends the house. The house is typical of the South of France: walls with lime, exposed beams, stoves, antique furniture.

The space

The house has a lot of charm. It has been redone in respect of the traditional style. The river is 2 steps away (for those who love bathing and canoeing). The shady garden is very appéciable when it is hot.

The house is a lovely old stone building over three floors: kitchen, dining room and WC on the ground floor, bedroom, bathroom and laundry room on the first floor, and living room and the main bedroom on the top floor. The terraced garden is also pretty and is accessed via a gate on the opposite side of the street from the front door - be aware though that there's no outdoor space directly adjoining the house, if that's important to you. Ceps has its picturesque parts but is also very much a working village, and you can watch people pressing grapes and washing out wine barrels from the living room window. Because of this, and because everything is so close together, it's maybe not the place to come if you want guaranteed peace and quiet. We probably noticed this more than other guests though because we had extremely rowdy neighbours the whole time we were there - none of the other reviews mention this so I assume the people responsible are not permanent residents. Eric is a fantastic host and was very friendly, helpful and responsive when I had to contact him. We had to shorten our stay slightly at the last minute and he was very accommodating and sympathetic. Bernard, his father-in-law was also friendly and helpful, and met us to show us around (bearing a bottle of wine!) and again to pick up the key when we left. All-told, Eric's house is a great base for visiting the region, and there are walks and river swimming easily accessible from the doorstep. Also wineries!

Response from Eric:

A quaint but lovely old village house, very well-equipped and with a beautiful jardin agrément just across the street that made a perfect outdoor space for eating and relaxing. The village of Ceps is quiet but has great river bathing and entertaining canoeing.

What a beautiful house in a beautiful village. The home is very well decorated and has everything you need. The River Orb that runs by Ceps is lovely for swimming and great fun to canoe down. This place is paradise altho the wee flying beasties had a good meal on my partner but avoided me :) Thank you Eric for a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful stay in Eric's house. Ceps is an adorable, tiny village right on the river side. A very romantic and cosy setting. And the old stone house with the shady terrace was absolutely lovely and had everything we needed to be comfortable and feel at home (exept perhaps wifi ;-)). The communication with Eric was smooth, and we were well received by his sweet parents upon arrival and at departure. I highly recommend booking this unique house, if you want the authentic french feeling for your holiday.

Sehr herzlichen Dank! Die Unterkunft ist sehr zu empfehlen.
