There's a big garden and a big natural swimming pool with a separate children's pool (50cm depth) The pool is not fenced, the swimming area is 17m long and 3,5m deep. By nature you'll find frogs in the water and they like to proclaim their presence vocally..

There's a friendly and playful male dog in the house next door.
Dogliani, the small town with restaurants, supermercato and local shops, gelateria and the coffeebar on the piazza is a 3 min drive or a 20min walk, the coast (Savona) is about a one hour drive.
There are two double beds and a small single bed in the two bedrooms in the upper floor. You'll find a balcony and two terraces to eat, grill and relax.
Interaction with Guests
The family living next door looks after the farmhouse: Malika is in charge of the house and her father Milou looks after the garden. His vegetable garden is nearby the guest house and is watered and maintained by Milou during the day. Hi tomatoes are delicious...!
The area offers you the beautiful vineyards, small historic villages with excellent restaurants and a surprising choice on cultural activities. The ligurian coast as well as a few bigger italian cities (Turin, Alba, Savona...) are within a one hour drive.
It is most practical to have your own car. The walk into "town" is about 2km, mostly downhills..
Other Things to Note
The pool, being a natural "pond" has some algae growth and depending on season, heat, rain, usage etc. the water quality can vary. If needed, the children's pool can be cleaned with a water hoover.
Waking up with the sounds of the birds. Shaded breakfast in the garden, a bit of reading in the hammock. Learning about the frogs in the natural pool. Visiting the little villages in the neighbourhood.
We just enjoyed the lovely house, friendly father of Marcus and lovely Malika and family.
We stayed at Jacqueline and Markus' place for three lovely weeks in June. We found the farmhouse extremely charming, spacious and ideally located for excursions to the Piedmont region. We loved the large garden, the reef-lined natural pool, the soothing views of the vineyards and the rustic feel of the building. During our stay we accommodated three pairs of guests - they all adored it!
The weather was a bit all over the place during these last three weeks of June, but the old massive stone walls provides a very comfortable refuge - come gusty winds or scorching sun - without having to turn on the air condition.
From the very first point of contact Markus was a good communicator; understanding, helpful and very friendly.
We would like to add a couple of comments to the house description (as per June 2015):
With regards to privacy, be aware that the pool is not for your use only - and one of the families in this three-house complex has a vegetable plot in 'your' garden, thus disturbing the described privacy. When we stayed there the garden was tended to several times a day for hours. Now, this didn't bother us much as they are nice and polite, but the description could perhaps have been more precise on this matter.
Also, neither the garden nor the house offer views over Dogliani (a gem of a town in our opinion btw!), but the road leading up to the house does - spectacularly so.
For families with small children, please note that the natural pool has significant algae growth, making the pool very slippery both on the sides, for entering the pool and on the bottom. We had an accident with a child slipping and hitting his head on the side - all went well - but it's worth mentioning that the "separate childrens' pool" in at least some ways aren't that children friendly.
Having said this, we found the place absolutely wonderful!! As soon as we got home we started googling for our own farmhouse in Dogliani ;)
We zouden zo weer terug willen.
We stayed here for three nights with our three young children. The setting was as calm and beautiful as described. Although it wasn't warm enough on our visit to swim in the pool, the children still thoroughly enjoyed themselves with exploring the property, catching tadpoles, and playing with the caretaker's friendly dog.
As much as we loved the property, there are a few things that I wish I had known in advance. First, the (narrow, spiral) staircase is outside of the house; there is no internal staircase. The kitchen and salon / dining room are on the first floor, and the two bedrooms and bathroom (the only toilet in the house) are on the second floor. It was a bit of an inconvenience for the children, and also in the morning to bundle up in warm clothes to go outside and down to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee.
Second, while the property was very lovely and peaceful, it is still a working farm and people are walking around outside all day. The caretaker's family were kind and gracious people, but it just wasn't as private as I had expected.
Overall, I do recommend the property. The rooms were warm and spacious, and the shower had the best heat/water pressure/size of any other place we stayed on our trip. It was such a relaxing way to end our two-week visit to Italy, and an excellent, central location for exploring the Piemonte region.
The setting is absolutely beautiful. The farmhouse itself is very cool. You can tell that th structure is very old, but the living spaces have been updated making it a very functional and comfortable place to stay. The outdoor ares are a big plus too. The town of Dogliani is very close by and a real gem in this part of Italy. The local scene is lively and the regional wine is very good (of course). We would recommend this to friends or family.
Fantastica esperienza....dimora pulita ampia e tranquilla dove poter passare in relax le proprie giornate....fuori dallo stress quotidiano.
