An Idyllic secluded retreat far from the buzz of daily life, on Siena's doorstep. Master bedroom for 2 + single bedroom with private bathroom in a converted barn for up to 10 guests, with pool overlooking the rolling Tuscan hills.
Montechiaro Wine Estates is a historic stately home where you can still experience the old Chianti lifestyle as it once was, slow and calm just like 300 years ago. A private idyllic retreat for the discerning traveller who wants to leave it all behind and find peace. Here, a 10th generation family still patiently grows organic grapes and olive trees.
The main Villa was built in 1760 and is still inhabited by its original owners, who preserved most of its ancient features whilst modernising the art of welcoming their discerning guests.
The Wine Estate villas are on the same grounds. You will be staying in ancient buildings that were passionately renovated just two years ago, which offer a breath-taking view of the medieval town of Siena. The historic centre is just a 15 minute drive away. No real rush here. You will take the time to breath the seasons passing by through the wild flowers' scent. You can witness mesmerising sunsets over manicured grass leading to your private pool. The Villa grounds, the orchid gardens, the ancient greenhouse, the vineyards, the cellar and the old oil mill, the original wooden oven, la Signora Beppina and her hen house, everything here is still run in the authentic Chianti way.
The Villa can be reserved entirely by groups, families, for that special weekend, or a company retreat.

-Coming from the South, leave the A1 motor-road at exit "Valdichiana", drive on towards Siena along the road from Bettolle to Siena. Leaving behind exit "Castelnuovo Berardenga", turn at exit "Casetta-Monteaperti". Go on towards Monteaperti and after about 2 Km you'll find a white road sign "Monteaperti". Turn left at the street with the large monument and school. Keep following the windy road until you reach a 3-way junction. Stay far right on Strada di Montechiaro. Your destination is on the left.

We could not have been more pleased with our experience! Booking was easy and efficient, even despite our last-minute reservation request. When we arrived, we were able to join a previously-scheduled tour and wine tasting, which was wonderful! Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common areas were great for relaxing, reading, etc. It was a pleasant surprise to have screens on the windows so that we could have fresh air in the room without being bothered by mosquitoes.
Alessandro and Chiara provided an incredible breakfast and plenty of recommendations for things to do in the surrounding areas. They were perfect hosts - accommodating and friendly. We so enjoyed meeting everyone, including the other guests in the villa. The location is quiet, relaxing, and scenic, while still being convenient to nearby cities and conveniences. The only negative was that we couldn't stay longer!
If you plan to stay here, be sure to look into the wine tasting/tour and order breakfast at least one morning while you're there - both are well worth it. And leave plenty of time in your schedule to just enjoy the grounds around the villa and spectacular views of the countryside and Siena.
Bad frisch renoviert. Sehr Empfehlenswert für Ruhe und Entspannung!
Wonderful experience. Ale & his team were super helpful and understanding with our delays. Also helped us book taxis and figure out which trains to catch in time for our flight. Sent lots of great recommendations for the area.
Note that breakfast is not included but rather costs 14€ per person. You will need to bring your own food from town. Not an issue if you have a car but could be if you don't have a car as taxis cost about €18-20 each way. From what I know no other meals are available for purchase, although there is a restaurant nearby.
Views are beautiful! Wish I could have stayed longer to experience more of what was available at the villa.
Favorite experience was sitting outside at night, with lights off, and just enjoying the beautiful and clear skies.
I loved every minute of staying here. My boyfriend and I had a room in the shared villa which had the best view of Tuscany, hands down! It was also the closest villa to the pool which the terrace overlooks.
Alessandro and his family were so welcoming and friendly. Lots of fantastic activities to do on the estate and nearby.
A real treat if you want a true Tuscan villa wine experience without the cost of booking a whole villa!
The location was beautiful, and Alessandro was a sincere and accommodating host. I most definitely recommend staying at this location. The only downside was that we had our personal room and bathroom but shared the house with other guests. It was not an issue, but this was not explained in the details and we did not expect it to be like that.
Thank you for your visit and feedback! We offer the possibility of choosing whether to reserve an entire Villa (composed of 4 to 5 bedrooms) or an individual Suite and as you can see from this booking, pricing as well as our email trail you chose the second option. We are sorry to hear this was not your ultimate wish and we have already taken steps so this does not happen again! For your next visit we shall be delighted to offer you our lovely Pietrina Lodge, a cosy self-contained exclusive country home with its own private kitchen, beamed lounge with cosy fireplace and sofa bed, separate bedroom, extensive garden and parking. With our very best wishes, the Montechiaro Wine Estates
