Amazing Irish cottage in the country. Brian and Eileen went above and beyond what is expected from an Airbnb, leaving a few Guinness and great welcome pack which is even translated to French, Spanish and German. Would recommend a stay here to anyone, lovely cottage for a relaxing family trip. You won't find much better in Airbnb.

Lovely home - updated with flair. Comfortable beds (3 double and 2 twin beds) and 2 sofas that can be made into beds. Three bathrooms (2 showers & 1 bath). Enjoyed the two eras (cottage and modern). Modern has workable kitchen. 2 small fridges split between old kitchen and new. No WiFi. TV in home with lots of DVDs. Quiet in lush rural area 45 -50 minutes from the coast. Owners are super friendly and hospitality. Once checked in they are available by text or phone.

Response from Brian:
Elena Thanks for your review. Unfortunately because we are in a rural location we cannot source a reliable wifi service. We do intend installing one as soon as its available. However, many of the nearby restaurants/cafes, local libraries etc are very pleased to have you avail of their free wifi service. Regards Brian

We had a lovely stay at this property and would thoroughly recommend it. It's definitely worth going for the whole property, the new extension adds a lot to the whole house - the light and space is beautifully done, and you can directly access it from the main house (I hadn't realised that). It's very quiet in the surrounding area, with beautiful views just a few minutes walk away. You are close enough to Ballaghaderreen (10 mins drive or so) or Gorteen to get to the shops or pubs easily enough etc to make it very convenient. It's a great spot and we'd love to go back. Extras included a wild hare that came very close to our breakfast window, and took a long look at us! Brian and Eileen were great hosts. Welcoming and helpful but giving us plenty of space.

Our group was made of two families that made up a total of 13 at one time and we were very kindly accommodated by Brian and Eileen (including some games for the children!). Whilst I did not meet them myself, the other family arrived first and and found them charming and friendly. The buildings are two very different contrasting styles, which is interesting. We found the people of the village of Gurteen equally friendly. It was 30 minutes from Lough Key, Roscommon, and Sligo town, which were our 2 main ports of call. We were made to feel very welcome indeed, and all information for and about the house/s were readily available. The grounds are private, quiet and safe for small children - ours made their own treasure hunt during our stay! The home-made tea brack was a lovely surprise, and very much enjoyed after the drive from Co Clare.

Highly recommended accomodation. Very comfortable both houses. The communication with Brian was very clear and prompt answers. The kitchens are very well equipped and covets were full with tea, coffee, pasta, cans... All my family including myself were very impressed with houses and the price. Thanks to Brian & Eileen

Brian and his wife (apologies for not remembering name) are genuinely, warm, friendly and inviting people, as is the Cottage. Communications between my self and Brian by text messaging was prompt and accurate. Getting there was easy enough, although I was a little concerned that I would miss the turn-off at the little white statue. A great secluded spot with easy access to basic shops 4K away. Don't hesitate to book!

We are from Dublin, both retired, travel a lot. We are interested in folk music, sing a bit and play badly. Before retiring we both had careers in the public health service. Other interests include soccer(thats me) and we do some hill walking including some time hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Places visited include most of Europe, Israel, Tunisia, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, USA and Australia.
