The David Stewart Farm is located in historic Gettysburg, PA. The farmhouse & barn were used as a civil war field hospital immediately after the Battle of Gettysburg. Located 4 miles from the center of town, it's an easy drive to the battlefields, local attractions and local restraurants. Baltimore is about 1 hour away and Washington, DC is 1 1/2 hours.
You will be staying in a large sunny room with a queen-size bed and have your own private bathroom (shower, no tub). The kitchen and family room will be shared with me and my pets - 2 large dogs and 6 cats. (They do have the run of the house so if you are allergic to or afraid of animals, this is probably not the best place for you.) There is a large deck and big backyard (100 acres) for you to hang out if the weather permits. WiFi is available.
I will be your only "living" host, but there are many others who reside with me. They have lived at the farm for many many years, some for hundreds of years. Yes, the house is haunted, but they are all friendly! I have been here for 33 years and have lots of interesting stories that I'd be happy to share with you if you are interested.
I own a fitness center so as my guest you will have a free pass to workout while staying with me.
Other Things to Note
There will be coffee and tea available in the morning but no breakfast. Sorry! I start most of my work days (including Saturdays!) at 7 am so I am not available to prepare breakfast. Plus I am NOT a good cook!! You really don't want me to cook for you!! LOL
This is a NO Smoking property.
The bedrooms and bath are on the second floor accessible only by stairs, no elevator.
Television is available in a shared area.
Coffee& tea will be available in the morning.
There are dogs and cats in the house. I do my best to keep up with the "pet hair", but it is impossible to get it all! So if you have pet allergies it would be best if you stayed elsewhere.
Sunday evenings are "Sunday Dinner at Nana's". My 3 children, their spouses and "the grandkids" all come over for dinner. You are more then welcome to join us! It can be rather chaotic, but it's always fun!
This was the perfect place for us to stay. It is a farm outside of town, set back from the main road by about 300 yards, so there is no traffic noise. It has fields and a pond and Stephani graciously allowed us to bring our Yellow Labrador. She also has cats and dogs, so our dog was in good company.
When we arrived, Stephani had an auto tour cd and map for us to borrow of the Gettysburg National Military Park. She gave us good advice on restaurants and routes when we were leaving.
Our room was on the second floor in the historic part of the house, with a bathroom just outside, off the hall. The bed was very comfortable. There is only one other room on that floor, but it wasn't occupied.
Stephani was wonderful I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her and all of her critters.
My husband, brother-in-law, and I had a great time staying with Stephani! She was an awesome host. She had coffee for us in the morning. We had time to chat in the evening usually so we could ask questions about the area and the property. We were visiting for ghost hunting purposes, and Stephani made a lot of great recommendations in addition to sharing books about Gettysburg's haunted past. If you're visiting for history or vacation, the beautiful location and comfortable accommodations will equally please you. The house and farm were stunning. We had an awesome time!
Stephani was a nice and friendly host. She gave us very useful suggestions for activities and restaurants in the area. She also told us about the history of the house and gave us a CD that helped us around during our tour in the battlefields.
The room was ok, although the mattress of the bed was very soft. You should be a pet-lover because there are a lot of pets in the house - which are BTW very cute.
Best trip to gb ever!!! Stephani was wonderful as a host and so friendly! We will definately stay with her again
Stephani was warm and welcoming! She even stayed up to let us in after hitting some DC traffic. She knows a lot of history ab the area and her home - a great place to stay when in Gettysburg! The room was cozy and the bed was comfortable. Hope to come back!
Stephani was a wonderful host! We felt at home in her lovely house. She is all you can wish for a great stay!
I've lived in Adams County, PA all my life but have traveled to many exciting places on this great planet! I love meeting new people and finding out about their lives and cultures. But returning to my own little piece of paradise is a great ending to any day!
I'm an animal lover and have always had (rescued) pets. Currently I share my home with 2 dogs, 4 cats.
I am really looking forward to meeting you!
