The David Stewart Farm is located in historic Gettysburg, PA. The farmhouse & barn were used as a civil war field hospital immediately after the Battle of Gettysburg. Located 4 miles from the center of town, it's an easy drive to the battlefields, local attractions and local restraurants. Baltimore is about 1 hour away and Washington, DC is 1 1/2 hours.
You will be staying in a large sunny room with a queen-size bed and have your own private bathroom (shower, no tub). The kitchen and family room will be shared with me and my pets - 2 large dogs and 6 cats. (They do have the run of the house so if you are allergic to or afraid of animals, this is probably not the best place for you.) There is a large deck and big backyard (100 acres) for you to hang out if the weather permits. WiFi is available.
I will be your only "living" host, but there are many others who reside with me. They have lived at the farm for many many years, some for hundreds of years. Yes, the house is haunted, but they are all friendly! I have been here for 33 years and have lots of interesting stories that I'd be happy to share with you if you are interested.
I own a fitness center so as my guest you will have a free pass to workout while staying with me.
Other Things to Note
There will be coffee and tea available in the morning but no breakfast. Sorry! I start most of my work days (including Saturdays!) at 7 am so I am not available to prepare breakfast. Plus I am NOT a good cook!! You really don't want me to cook for you!! LOL
This is a NO Smoking property.
The bedrooms and bath are on the second floor accessible only by stairs, no elevator.
Television is available in a shared area.
Coffee& tea will be available in the morning.
There are dogs and cats in the house. I do my best to keep up with the "pet hair", but it is impossible to get it all! So if you have pet allergies it would be best if you stayed elsewhere.
Sunday evenings are "Sunday Dinner at Nana's". My 3 children, their spouses and "the grandkids" all come over for dinner. You are more then welcome to join us! It can be rather chaotic, but it's always fun!
Stephani was a wonderful host! We felt at home in her lovely house. She is all you can wish for a great stay!
Amazing place to visit. Stephani makes you feel completely welcome. Very easy to talk to. Definitely recommend to anyone who would like to visit the area and soak in some history.
This farmhouse was perfect! Stephani is a helpful, friendly host who made us feel like family. She even helped us out with an extra night that we needed because of a snowstorm. The house is easy to find, a short drive to the main streets of Gettysburg. It was also perfect for our daughter who felt at home with Stephani's cats, toys and play equipment. The Pennsylvannia snow was also perfect!
Stephani welcomed us into her home very warmly. We enjoyed meeting her family pets. This civil war home was very interesting; enjoyed hearing little bits of the history of the home. She gave us great tips on seeing Gettysburg....shared her audio car tour CD with us which we enjoyed immensely.
Stephanie made us feel very welcome and accommodated us at the very last minute. She offered us her tour guides and gave us fantastic recommendations for both dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed that the house had so much history and spiritual connections. We will definitely return when in Gettysburg.
Stephani's place is heaven away from home. Stephani is kind, relaxed and hospitable; her house is comfortable and clean. She treated us like guests who had been family friends for years. I was there with a young man under the stress of visiting 3 colleges. Stephani and her canine-feline welcoming committee had us feeling replenished within minutes of arriving. If you like dogs and cats, I can't imagine a better place to stay.
I've lived in Adams County, PA all my life but have traveled to many exciting places on this great planet! I love meeting new people and finding out about their lives and cultures. But returning to my own little piece of paradise is a great ending to any day!
I'm an animal lover and have always had (rescued) pets. Currently I share my home with 2 dogs, 4 cats.
I am really looking forward to meeting you!
