COVID-19 RESPONSE:
We have implemented many changes to keep you safe. Please see below for our new protocols.

Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond, in close proximity to our beautiful stone barn.

Please note that Sticks and Stones Farm is a drug and alcohol free property and we request that all of our guests respect and adhere to our policy. Thank you!

NEW COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:

In order to protect the wellness of both our guests and residents on the farm, we have implemented significant changes to our offerings.

1. All cabins have their own space for cooking. There are no communal facilities.
2. All cabins have access to a private toilet and shower facility
3. There is a two-day window on either side of our bookings to ensure a deep
cleaning of each space.
4. We have closed access to the main barn to eliminate communal contact with
residents and other guests.

We have done all we can to provide a secluded, safe space for a natural retreat away from this uncertain world. You will be immersed in a natural setting where everything is exactly as it has always been. Nature is thriving more than ever - a perfect place to escape for a weekend, a week or even an month!

Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond. The Houseboat has a comfy queen bed and a screened porch complete with two antique rocking chairs. The River Houseboat is often preferred because it is located close to the main Stone Barn and parking lot. Keep in mind that because this cabin is located at the base of the mountain it is not as secluded as the other cabins.

For your safety as part of our Covid-19 response we have created an outdoor kitchen just outside the cabin with a sink, cook stove and gas grill. All dishware and basic cooking supplies are also provided. A seperate outdoor shower and outhouse is also provided.

PLEASE NOTE
-The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn
-There is a small fire pit located near the cabin.
-Candles are not allowed in the cabins
Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!
We ask that all guests arrive before dark. Guests arriving after 10pm will be required to pay an additional $20 late check in fee in cash upon arrival. We apologize but we must enforce this even if you are late due to circumstances out of you control.

It’s simple living at its best. We're just over one hour from NYC but local folks love us too. We are an easy, inexpensive "staycation" and many use us frequently as their guest "bedroom" when out of town family or friends come. We offer a unique setting for your summer get-a-way or family reunion.

There is a communal Rustic Kitchen on the top of the mountain ideally situated between the Pagoda cabin, Mtn. Laurel cabin and Summit cabin. The kitchen has cookware, plates, french press, utensils, a stove, grill, coolers with ice, olive oil, salt/pepper, drinking water and a sink with running water (not potable)! Lighting is limited and we always encourage people to bring their own additional lighting.

There is also a fully equipped communal kitchen located in the Stone Barn at the base of the mountain which guests are welcome to use. We do not provide breakfast at this time.

There are three large designated fire pits on the property. Some cabins also have their own fire pits which is noted in their individual descriptions. Fires are not allowed to be made in non-designated places! Please Note per Connecticut state law - firewood cannot be brought in from out of the state.

Upon arrival we will provide you with a map and your own cooler with ice. We allow our guests to drive their belongings up to their cabin at check in and upon check out but cars must be parked below in designated parking areas. Please remember that during your stay you will be traveling on foot! Most of the cabins are a 10-25 minute walk through the woods, depending on your speed. The River Houseboat and Little House are at the base of the mountain next to the stone barn and parking area so very little walking is required.

We restock ice and other goods daily and thus try to make ourselves as available and accommodating to changing needs as possible - we have some individuals living on the property who can be available in case of emergency.

Important Things to Note:

-Verizon wireless is the only network to have service throughout the property. Nearly all other providers have service on the top of the mountain where the majority of our cabins are located.
-Dogs are not allowed to stay in any of our cabins.
-Please be advised that we are not solely a Bed and Breakfast; we are a working farm and while we aim to accommodate you as best as possible, there are sometimes other events going on that may affect your stay. We recommend you check our calendar of events prior to booking. Sometimes our guests enjoy participating!
-There is a shower inside the stone barn, as well as two outdoor showers located near the Rustic Kitchen area at the top of the mountain.
- An outhouse that is cleaned weekly is located near the Rustic kitchen, Mtn. Laurel cabin, Summit cabin and Pagoda cabin and a two room state of the art composting toilet is shared between the Solar cabin and Log cabin - both a one minute walk away
- We have a wilderness camp that runs Monday - Friday from 9am - 3pm during the summer. Campers and staff respect the privacy of the cabins but you might see some groups of children building forts or playing games throughout the forest
- Please be aware that depending on rain fall the property is at risk of drought in the late summer. This can sometimes cause the pond levels to drop making it less scenic for some.
- None of the cabins except the River House Boat and Little House have electric- fans are provided in these cabins
- There is a Stop and Shop grocery store located 2.5 miles from the farm
- If you are arriving via metro north you want to get off at Bridgeport and from there you can get a driving service for the 30-minute ride to the farm (i.e. Uber, Lyft etc.).
- We do have wi-fi in the main stone barn that reaches the Little House and the River houseboat.
- There are two cats that live on the property in our near the stone barn.

Guest access
We have an organic bio intensive vegetable garden, a 54' Chartre Moss and Stone Labyrinth, a Zig Zag Moss Walk up the mountain, lots of trails throughout the 60 acres, state of the art composting toilets and rustic outdoor showers, unique stone sculptures, a lookout Faerie Gazebo, two lower ponds off the River and one up atop the mountain, which is spring fed with ice cold water, bring your suit! DURING TIMES OF DROUGHT THESE PONDS MAY BE TOO LOW FOR SWIMMING!

The farm is a magical place and a perfect "getaway" from the craziness that life sometimes throws at us. The farm has a very impressive moss garden as well as a stone and moss Labyrinth. All of us at the farm love to live simply, sustainably and with presence. We love clean food, music, yoga and so many other good things :-) Locals make sure to check out our incredible Two Coyotes Wilderness School, a nature-based mentoring program with summer camps, home school and weekend programs!
