The Space

Large Sunny Private Bedroom in Beautiful Artist’s duplex house.

The room is large, sunny and open on a quiet tree lined-block. It is equipt with fresh linens, towels, a/c, a queen size bed, a queen size air mattress and a sitting area ( if only using bed and not air mattress). The bathroom is shared with me and is separate from the bedroom.

This colorful house is located on 11th Street in Park Slope Brooklyn. It is furnished with eclectic vintage and antique furniture and is decorated with an array of art from the turn-of-the century to the present. The 1950’s style eat-in kitchen has a dishwasher, space in the refrigerator, many cooking tools and spices. The apartment includes high-speed wireless Internet, washer/dryer and beautiful garden. DOGS ARE WELCOME.

The neighborhood in what many consider to be one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of New York City borders and Gowanus, Carroll Gardens and Red Hook (which are all very interesting areas). Park Slope is filled with grocery stores, banks, coffee shops, bars, music venues, several excellent restaurants and 2 farmer's markets. I will provide a list of the many restaurants in my neighborhood which include Japanese, Thai, Mexican, Indian, French, Italian and local and seasonal American cuisine.
The house is also a 5 minute walk from Prospect Park and a ten minute subway ride to the Brooklyn Museum and Botanical Gardens. The F, G and R trains are just a block and two blocks away. The F, G and R trains take you directly to a lot of neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Manhattan (which is a 20 min ride). They are also easy transfers to 2, 3, 4, 5, Q, D and B trains. Parking is relatively easy in this neighborhood

I am a glass artist and have a studio in Gowanus, which is very close to my home. I am around to answer any questions or to help you navigate your way around the city. I will provide you with some homemade snacks for your stay and coffee and tea in the morning.

I require a $200 cash security deposit (taken out by airbnb). 100% of deposit is refunded, provided everything is intact. Also, my very nice housekeeper ensures that you have a clean room when you arrive. This cleaning fee is included in the cost of your room.

  • Thank you so much for your gracious hospitality Erica! You made our hectic wedding weekend much more peaceful. Before we even arrived, Erica emailed us a list of restaurants, local bars and entertainment. We arrived early in the morning and were greeted by Erica and pups with open arms and much needed coffee. She left out yummy snacks and delicious NY bagels for us to nosh on. Her glass studio and back patio were so nice to enjoy a glass of wine and exchange life stories. Erica's apartment was filled with interesting kick knacks and art pieces to admire. We truly felt at home the moment we walked in. We now have a place in Brooklyn to stay when we want to come back and visit family. Thanks again Erica, it was a wonderful meeting you and getting to know you! Best Wishes!

  • My friend and I stayed at Erica's for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Erica is a wonderful host, friendly, helpful, and easy going. The location is ideal, very near the metro and walking distance to tons of great restaurants. Erica's space is creative, interesting, and very clean. It was an excellent choice of accommodation that I would highly recommend. Thanks again Erica!

  • Erica is a nice, warm and friendly host with a charming place. She put a lot of effort in making her house feel like a home. You can see by entering her home that she has a creative mind. Together with her cute dog Birdy, they make a nice team!

  • Needed a place for my parents to stay while visiting - Erica saved me at the very last minute! The room was clean and comfortable, and my parents were happy. Extra points for putting up with several back and forth messages from both me and my father.

  • I cannot think of a better way to experience one of Brooklyn's greatest neighborhoods than by staying at Erica's beautiful home. This was by far my most relaxing and enriching stay in NY in many years. The private room is truly lovely and Erica's hospitality with her kitchen, lovely garden and living room made our trip perfect. Thank you for making us feel at home!

  • We've just returned from 5 fantastic nights in New York, and the thing we keep taking about isn't the staggering architecture, the energy and enthusiasm of the people, nor the surprisingly good local beers, but how much of our memories are thanks to Erica and her quirky, 50s kitsch, inspiration overloaded apartment.
She gave us some great local knowledge, as well as space and privacy. She gave us fresh coffee and pastries as well as a tour of her glass blowing studio. She even welcomed us with cold beers! Now there's a host!
The house is full of intrigue and memories, very clean and comfortable and less than 3mins to the subway. There's also a dozen good places to eat within four blocks - you just have to try Four and Twenty Blackbirds for pie, and one of the best small jazz clubs we've ever been to, Barbes.
So thank you Erica for helping to make our trip so special.
See you this time again next year if not before! And give Birdy some pizza nibbles from me.

  • We stayed here for 3 nights and it was PERFECT! The guest bedroom decor is in the vein of Anthropologie (though more unique) and the vibe is very relaxed. I ran up the staircase and instantly wanted to move in!!! We were welcomed with fresh fruit & local pastries. I loved her attention to detail-the whole place is very clean & comfortable. Erica was the perfect host-she quickly replied to our messages, even helped us with directions from the airport, gave great suggestions to local restaurants and also current art exhibitions in the city. The location was a 5 min walk to the subway. I would love to stay here again!
