Atmosphere and deco was quiet nice, and if you wanna see the real Hong Kong this is the place to be. The view from the double room was gorgeous! Just be prepared to climb 9 stories of stairs.
My time at Kit's apartment was once in a lifetime experience and Kit was a very good host. Met a lot of cool people and stayed in a part of the city i have always wanted to see. Would definitely go back again, the rooftop view is incredible.
Kit was really accommodating. We got there early and hung around in the shared space and rooftop until the room was ready. We stayed in the private room, which has a double bed, enough hooks and places to keep your stuff, and two huge windows with awesome views of the neighborhood. We even got used to the nine flights of stairs. He throws barbecues on the roof. If you are the type of person who likes meeting new people and hanging out, go to Kit's.
The neighborhood is the best in HK, imo. Amazing record shop around the corner from Kit's (not visible from street--look for a video of it on youtube), lots of good, cheap food, right by a subway stop. Markets are around from morning to late night. If I were to go back to Hong Kong, I'd stay at Kit's again for sure.
Kit's place in Sham Shui Po has a great artistic, bohemian vibe to it. Overlooking the metro station, 20 minutes away from the HK city centre, it's ideally located in the heart of the fascinating Sham Shui Po district, bustling with activity; besides, there are some great views over the neighborhood, particularly from the private bedroom. And Kit himself is a very jovial and helpful guy, ready to share all sorts of information regarding HK, places to go, restaurants, etc.
The only drawbacks would be the lack of elevator (9 floors can be a little much to climb for non-mountaineers!), and the single bathroom (shared between up to 8 people).
We had a great stay at this flat. Rooftop view is amazing at night, book shelf has some rare gems, atmosphere is overally superb. Will definitely stay here again.
Kit's hostel was by far the nicest hostel we have ever stayed at. It's somewhere between big-communal-living-room and hostel, and that makes it all the more cosy and personal. As we were a couple we opted for the secluded room which is located in the corner of the building, and we must say quite a special sensation looking over Kowloon from your bed!
Other than that the semi-permanent inhabitants of the hostel make you feel at home immediately (I'm looking at you, Nicolas and Peter !) and were happy enough to provide us with information about food and the area.
Kits motives for maintaining this place are clearly that he loves to bring people together and to make them feel welcome, and from our experience we can only say that the place does exactly this.
If we are ever going to HongKong again, we're definitely staying here and if you haven't done so already I suggest you give it a try!
Overall, a really good experience!

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time at Tin Tong! What a great bunch of people and an incredible space. Very relaxed, comfortable place for backpacker-types. Highly recommended.
Nice and relaxed atmosphere. View from the room and roof was awesome. Location is great. Especially if you like to buy some electronics. Many thanks to Nicolas too.
I would recommend this place to open minded travellers who are ready to communicate with newcomers from all continents and want to experience authentic Kowloon living style in an old part of town with its flea market, tradittional restaurant, etc... place is very close to the MTR station, roof terrace is a big bonus for the fact that there is no lift. Special thanks to NICOLAS the Great who made our stay as comfortable as possible in Hong Kong))
We had great time staying at Kit's place. The location/ neighborhood is awesome if you like to live around the locals. We got to experience many local dishes from breakfast sandwiches, desserts such as egg tarts, to classic dim sum. Kit and his friend, Lylon, had great recommendations and were helping giving us Cantonese lessons. Definitely (email hidden) if you don't mind climbing 166 steps.
