As other reviewers have mentioned, Gabriele's place is distinctive in the most positive sense. The space is definitely larger than the photos suggest (living room is around 4m x 5m, and the flat is not subterranean but rather cut into a steep slope. Everything worked as they should, check-in was easy, check-out was easy. I found the location fantastic, as the flat is in the old town of Colle instead of the non-descript new part - think real-life Assassins Creed set, infinitely more so than Monteriggiano. You will need a car to stay here, and you will have to park it 5 mins walk away from the flat, and you will not be able to roll right up to the door, but you won't mind one bit because it's worth it.

My wife and I had the pleasure to make La Ceppaia be are quiet, authentic home base for a spectacular week visiting the sights of Tuscany. Gabriele provided us with all the critical detailed information to make our arrival not only do-able but welcoming. His parents live next door to La Ceppaia so there is always someone nearby if you need something or have a question in Italian or a little French (Gabriel handles English). The many walks around the beautiful Colle Alta watching the sunlight change color on the stunning stone buildings was pure pleasure. Day trips were a breeze as the free, safe parking lot is just a quick walk through the cool town and then off on an adventure through the vineyards to magical places like San Gimignano and Greve in Chianti. And the Colle Alta Musei right around the corner from La Ceppaia (on the way to the awesome, take-tons-of-photos Porta Nuova gate) is a world-class museum for a bunch of artists and writers from the area. We walked all over the place but always seemed to find the time for a wonderful afternoon siesta. Waking up to the quiet and looking at the huge wooden beams in the ceiling of the stone bedroom was a peaceful joy... the essence of attaining a pure state of R&R. We feasted every evening either at one of the great nearby restaurants (like the fancy one on top of the Porta Nuova or the one with the killer view of the valley with killer pizza) which are just a nice short walk away (great for post-feast digestion). Or we sat in our own little private quiet terrace of La Ceppaia chowing cheese, bread, salami, olives, etc. and sipping whichever awesome Chianti wine we happened to have purchased that day. We ate, we drank, we chatted, we reflected while watching the fields transform into a Medieval landscape painting as the sun went down and the clouds turned orange. So if by chance you want a genuine Italian romantic, calm, quiet, delicious, spell-binding, historical, fascinating little hide-away with so much character it rejuvenates your inner soul, then I would stay at La Ceppaia.

Gabriele's place was just as expected! The pictures are authentic! The town is perfectly located close to Siena and the Tuscan region! The apartment is located in a very old "walled" town. Your terrace is beautiful looking out over fields. There is small coffee shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The bathroom is so unique with a soaker tub, good water pressure and hot water! A wonderful place to day trip from!

Wow, what a stunning apartment, I've stayed in many Airbnb but this is something else. Great communication from the owners, really helpful with telling all about the apartment and area including he local patisserie and restaurants. The court yard is very quiet and peaceful. It beautifully done inside and I will defiantly stay here again should I be in the area.

This is the most charming place which looks even better than on pictures. You are instantly drawn to wonderful small patio with amazing views which welcome you every morning with lots of sunshine and birds songs. There is a small garden with mint herbs and a surprising guest, a large friendly and funny turtle. :) The hosts were the best. Full of information, very nice, polite, discreet and friendly. They even let us make fire in the old fireplace which was for us like we won million dollars. :) This stone wall house is equipped with interesting fifties furniture for all design lovers and for those who like antiques, there are million things to see how was the life in the old days in Tuscany (many old tools, etc.... like a small museum). The place is located centrally, so you can easy visit all towns like Florence, Siena, wonderful San Gimignano and what our host recommended to us, I like to share with you- visit Monteriggioni, you won’t be dissapoined. All in all, definitely recommend! Thank you for the wonderful stay.

We had an enjoyable stay at this peaceful apartment. It is in a really good location for seeing Tuscany and the little village itself is really beautiful. Other reviews mention the musty smell and we noticed this too, that would be our only criticism. Thanks for a great stay
