About this listing

The setting is beautiful, with stunning views over Midi Pyrenees. The area is fantastic for hiking and biking, and the region itself is rich on history going right back to the cave men. The property is perfect for relaxation and disconnecting.

The space

We were recently fortunate to get the opportunity to take over this little gem in the French Pyrenees from Isabella and Søren, who spent 10 years redecorating this old farm house into a nice and charming guest house, and who have also been renting out the guest house (see reviews). The guest house will continue to be available for renting during the periods of the year when we are not using the guest house ourselves. There are two houses on the property, of which the guest house is the one that is available for renting. The property is located in the National Park "Parc naturel régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises", and we are absolutely certain that you will enjoy the magnificent beauty of this place. We welcome you all.

If you want to get away from everyday's stress and to relax in spectacular surroundings and unspoiled nature with the seducing charm and good food of Southern France, you can rent a private property with a newly restored authentic French farmhouse. Built in granite 200 years ago on a southern slope in 1100 m altitude with a breathtaking view over "The Chain of the Pyrenees" in one of the most exiting and interesting areas in the Pyrenees. Prehistoric man lived and hunted here 15.000 years ago, painting animals in the numerous grottos still to be seen.

Tastefully furnished the house has a magnificent living room with a huge fireplace, a cosy French country- style kitchen with fireplace and all modern equipment. 3 double-bedrooms, one with sink and bidet.

2,5 bathrooms.

Outdoor you have a 10x5 m solar heated pool, barbecue and "petanque" area. The communal areas are shared with our house when in use.

Numerous hikes directly from the house.
Horseback riding in the mountains with a guide.
Tennis, golf, paragliding, mountain biking, trout-fishing.
Canoeing, White water rafting, tele-waterski.

If you are looking for seclusion and natural beauty this is the perfect place. Amazing views of the mountains. The home is in a very rural area, across from a farm, you have an amazing soundtrack of sheep bells. The home itself is absolutely beautiful: slate roof, balcony, rock floors, wood framed windows only adds to the surrounding beauty. There is also a small water hole outside the home that lightly trickles water throughout the day and night, amazing sound. Surrounding the home are tours of caves, kayaking, and hiking if you choose to leave the house. Or just stock up at the local grocery (30 mins away) and enjoy the pool, cook out on the bbq, play petanque, and read a book. The pool is solar heated which is great, sunny days are a plus. Only comment is cell reception and wifi are not great, which only lends to the fact you have to be on vacation. The owner was great with communication and offered lots of advise/recommendations for our stay. Really memorable!

Absolutely first rate communication from the hosts, we really were able to get on with enjoying our break straight away. The house and surrounding area is simply stunning, we actually had to 'double-take' most days to check the view was real! Thoroughly recommend this wonderful house and very interesting area.

The house is gorgeous and set in some spectacular scenery. It was a joy just waking up there every morning and staring out of the window! Aside from that there is SO MUCH to do in the area we were really busy the whole month visiting markets and medieval towns, caves & 14,000 year old cave paintings, white water rafting, castles, an ancient forge, a reptile park, an aerial adventure in the trees, a thermal spa and of course the best...a daily trip to the most delicious bakery in the region close by in Saurat! The pool was a luxury and pétanque pitch great fun! Highly recommend a visit to this wonderful haven of peace in the mountains :)

A wonderful location and welcoming house. Beautiful peaceful surroundings with magnificent views. The house was clean and practical as described by Mark and Nina who gave clear instructions and were open in their communication. I would love to return, very soon.
