The Space

Private, quiet, peaceful and serene guest suite with queen bed attached private bath and entrance, shares no walls with the main house. Located just two blocks from Mountain View's bustling Main Street and just a few more from mass transit.

Our private, peaceful and serene guest suite is nestled under mature trees and in our back yard. The cozy cabin like room has queen sized futon and it's own attached private bath. The room has a private entrance to our back yard and shares no walls with the main house. We have a TV with VCR and DVD player, but no WiFi in our guest room, our home's WiFi does not reliably reach the room. We can provide you with access to our laundry room if you wish to do some laundry and a drip coffee maker if you wish to make coffee.

The best part about our location is that you can walk to everything in downtown Mountain View! Tons of great restaurants, supermarket, drug store, parks and library are just a few blocks away, yet parking is always readily available. Only 4 blocks from Mountain View's main transit hub with Caltrain, Light Rail, Bus and many corporate shuttles to local employers. This is a fabulous location!

Guests can contact us via phone, email or text message if you have questions. We are a busy family but we are usually home in the evenings and mornings. Check in is between 6 and 9:30 pm and check out is between 7 and 10 am.

We have had many inquiries about long term rentals for this room. We use this room for our own family who visit several times a year, so are not looking for long term guests. Thank you!

  • Overall a very good stay with Kristen. Plenty of room, clean and a very private space. The space was really comfortable and the location in perfect with only short walk to downtown Mountain View. The only downside of this guest house is the lack of wifi.

  • Kristen and her home were lovely, quiet and hospitable.

Her cottage has wonderful space: there are basically two walls of windows, a simple desk, and a shower with great pressure.

I would suggest the spot for anyone looking for some reprieve and decompression after a busy day in the silicon valley area.

    Thanks so much again Kristen.

    kindly

  • I am a business traveler who was simply looking for a pleasant place to sleep while keeping it local. This did provide a pleasant place and was as described.

  • The cottage-style room is in the backyard of the house. It has a private bathroom and entrance. It is very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable. It even has a heater, which was very helpful during these cold days. The host was great to spent extra effort to solve my booking problems. The only thing I could think to improve would be to add wifi to the place. I had to work late in the office in order to make sure my work is completely done before going home.

  • This is a nice little guest suite that I stayed at for a week just after moving to the Bay Area. Overall, a pleasant experience. Kristen was a very accommodating and friendly host, a pleasure to interact with.

Pluses: great location (two blocks from Castro, close to CA-237). Let me re-emphasize the great location; maybe I'm speaking from someone that was until then staying in large Sunnyvale hotels, unable to walk anywhere. It was also very clean and nicely comfortable. The yard seemed fine, but it was getting cold by this part of the year so I didn't spend any time there.

Minuses: the futon was OK for comfort, not great. I was staying there in November and it felt pretty drafty, though the heater helped. The two biggest minuses for me are nothing to the fault of Kristen or the place, as it was as advertised, but I came to realize how important kitchen access and wifi are for extended stays. In the future, I'll opt for places with this.

  • Very convenient yet private location in Mountain View. Walking distance to all the attractions on Castro street, easy to get to major roads. The room was clean and equipped with everything I needed during my stay. If you're staying during winter months, make sure to ask how to operate the heater.

  • We stayed for three nights and it was a good stay. The location in Mountain View is excellent and Kristen was very welcoming and friendly. I do not recommend this for extremely tall guests as the shower head height is very low. This worked ok for us but for anyone over 6 feet it would be an awkward shower to use. The bed was reasonably comfortable. There is no mini-fridge or facilities to boil water for tea which I enjoy. Space for hanging clothes is very limited (a couple of hangers on the back of a door) but that was not an issue for us. Overall it worked well for our needs for this trip.

  • A charming and comfortable room. Highly recommended.

  • Although we were hardly there, the few times that we did encounter Kristen and/or her family, she was very helpful and accommodating. She was very easy to work with! And the suite was in a very convenient location-close to stores, El Camino Real, and Starbucks! I felt like I was in the woods yet I was close to town. Thank you Kristen!
