John and Siobhan were the loveliest of hosts, and they really made our trip a delight. The bothy was immaculately appointed, plus stocked with delicious food from their garden and home. John and Siobhan were gracious hosts, providing fantastic breakfasts in the morning, as well as lively conversation. The ponies were gentle and curious - five each with unique personalities. Overall, only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.
The Bothy is the perfect place to relax, unwind and do nothing - or you could go exploring. The area is the most beautiful scenic part of Ireland we have experienced. Siobhan was a wonderful hostess and we really enjoyed our leisurely breakfasts. I would visit Ireland again just to stay here! The Bothy is fabulous, its really a luxury studio - great bed, cosy fire and recently built to a very high standard. Can't recommend highly enough, do not miss this unique spot! We'd love to visit again.
Had a wonderful 3 days staying in John and Siobhan's cottage. The cottage is very cosy and tidy with homemade breads and biscuits to keep you going.
It is in a great location with amazing walks into the nearby valleys and mountain. Only a short drive away there are many great walks such as the Dereen gardens and towns to explore and enjoy.
The cottage itself is very peaceful with comfortable chairs and bed to relax and feel part of the beara peninsula.
Relaxing! Beautiful! Perfect! Meeting John and Siobhon felt like a reuniting with old friends. The Bothy came stocked with milk, eggs and Siobhan's homemade bread. Siobhan's breakfast and conversations with John, were a great beginning to the day. Staying at the Bothy and driving the Beara Peninsula were the highlight of our trip. We truly did not want to leave! Staying at the Bothy is a must!
We had a fabulous time, very spoilt with John and Siobhan's delicious breakfasts of eggs, potato cakes and hot homemade scones. Our hosts went out of their way to be hospitable. The bothy is modern and beautifully fitted out , whilst having a cosy cottage feel. The bed is warm and good-quality. There are beautiful views from the farm of the mountains and the valley, and lovely walks straight out of the door. We enjoyed the very interesting selection of books whilst relaxing by the stove in the evenings. Talking with John and Siobhan, and getting to know their very inquisitive young ponies, really made our holiday.
We had a wonderful few days with John and Siobhan at their bothy. It's a fantastically secluded spot, nothing but the birds for company. The cottage itself was spotless and very comfortable, great bed, some music and books for the evenings by the wood-burning stove. It's also great to meet two people who care so much for the environment and landscape they live in.
The Beara peninsula is a stunning part of Ireland - lots of places to explore, from the seabirds at wild Dursey Island to the seclusion of Derreen Gardens.
The breakfasts were delicious, with fresh scones, eggs, granola, and home made jams, among other things. It all added up to the renourishment of the soul for these two East London residents!
