We loved our tie at the beautiful Bothy. After two very long days sight seeings and exploring the Irish countryside, we loved coming back to a warm fire, a game of scrabble, a movie and a comfortable bed. The accommodations and the property were absolutely stunning. Throughout our trip we saw a lot of Southern Ireland and visited a lot of places and I can honestly say the the Beara Peninsula was one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the opportunity to explore. I sincerely hope to visit again once day. Thanks John for the great time!
Bothy is a special place in a spectacular setting! it is a place where you can unwind and explore, and has all the creature comforts for a totally relaxing get-away. John and Siobhan are excellent hosts, taking care of details to make it feel like your own private hide away.
Wonderful friendly hosts! Beautiful serene valley with lush meadows and rugged mountain tops everywhere. Great pottery. The bothy surpassed our expectations!
Simply the best place to stay in Ireland.
John and Siobhan are fantastic hosts and wondeful people.
Thank you for another wonderful stay!!
The Bothy is truly the perfect place to unwind, submerge yourself in nature's beauty and find relaxation. Set in a fantastic, mountainous terrain, it's the perfect base from which to enjoy the stunning rings of Beara and Kerry.
The flat is decorated to a high standard and feels luxurious in an understated way. There is a bathroom, kitchenette, a wood burning stove in front of which one can watch DVDs or listen to the eclectic CDs on offer, and a very comfy bed. Tasteful art adorns the walls, and beautiful home made pottery fills the cupboards, giving a rustic, personal feel.
On our arrival, we were greeted with a roaring fire, fresh bread and a stocked kitchen. We were quickly made to feel welcome and very at ease. John and Siobhan really are a delight, attentive to our needs without being overbearing. In fact we would have liked to get to know them better than we had opportunity to, and enjoyed chats over the deliciously fresh cooked breakfast. John even fixed a problem with our rental car unbeknown to us overnight!
We would recommend the Bothy to anybody, and had an idyllic, romantic few days of walking the hills, exploring the local towns and generally being wowed by the beauty of the area. We echo the sentiment that one can read on every page of the Bothy's guest book in that we hope one day to be able to return.
Nous avons eu un très beau séjour! Maison paisible où il a fait bon se reposer. À recommander! Merci encore pour tout!
John and Siobhan’s Bothy is an absolute sanctuary of peace and joy in an incredibly beautiful, remote and inspiringly well cared for landscape! We were made to feel so warmly welcome on arrival with a wood burner glowing and a well supplied pantry stocked up with home grown veg, delicious baked bread and cookies, herbal teas and freshly laid eggs.
The generous hospitality of our lovely hosts continued over our 5 night stay with delicious and varied breakfasts of freshly squeezed juice, eggs, home baked scones/pancakes and yummy homemade jams. Thank you once again Siobhan for baking such a delicious birthday cake, what a sweet surprise! We enjoyed it so much with our after dinner tea each evening of our stay!!
Our soulful and connecting morning chats with John were always a mutual source of fun and inspiration with wonderful and varied music filling the air of the conservatory as a welcome backdrop to great conversation! He was also very generous with guiding us to the best local walks, lucky us… thank you John!!
The Bothy was the perfect place to lay the stresses of our daily life down and just melt into our vacation. After a day out in the wild unspoiled beauty of the surrounding hills, lakes and coastlines of the stunning and wonderful Beara Peninsula we would come “home” and chill with great music from John’s tasteful CD collection, cook up a homegrown feast served on his lovingly made beautifully crafted pottery and count ourselves very very lucky and blessed to have found such a place to be!! In the quiet of our evenings we could tangibly feel the years of creativity, love and enjoyment that had infused this haven of peace…it was a welcome relief to be off-grid and in the stillness of it all!!
We left feeling sweetly nourished, mellow and inspired after a dip in the tree lined river pool at the bottom of the farm; empty of the unnecessary, stocked with a few heartfully chosen pottery acquisitions and happy and glad to have met such lovely people in such a wonderful setting… Much love and gratitude to you both for absolutely everything, it’s been so great and we really hope to return!
