The Space

Welcome to "Montmartre barcelonés" !

This Barcelona apartment is situated just next to the busy touristic city center (Barrio Gotico & LA RAMBLA) , within 10-min walking distance to the sea (The Barcelona Old Harbour), on the 3rd floor of a typical Barcelona building from the 19th century, with a stylish staircase and a balconies overlooking the street.
As in majority old buildings in the center of Barcelona, there is no lift in the building.

PLEASE NOTE, that as the area is lively, with some bars and restaurants, there might be some noise at night, that can affect the rooms facing the street. The LIVING ROOM is quiet, and can be used as a bedroom.

The street is wide, properly illuminated during all night, and the area is safe.

*** Double bedroom 1, with the queen-size bed, sunny balcony and facing the street,
*** Double bedroom 2, with a double, pull-up sofa and a sunny balcony, facing the street,
*** Spacy living-room, with a pull-out sofa that eventually can accommodate 2 extra guests, and a dining corner.
*** Bathroom 1 with a sink, WC and modern shower.
*** Bathroom 2 with a sink, WC and bath tub.
*** Nicely equipped sunny kitchen, with the basic spices (salt, sugar, oil, vinagre, tobasco, soya sauce, and others).

Other facilities:

* WiFi (free and fast)
* Air Conditioning
* Linen and towels provided.
* Coffee, tea and the basic spices are provided,
* Shower gel, shampoo and soap is provided (unless you need any special one).

LOCATION of the Barcelona apartment:

The great majority of the city attractions is easily available walking, the only ones where you would need to take the metro are:
*** La Sagrada Familia (10 mins by direct metro train)
*** El Parque Guell (17 mins by direct metro train).

There are some cafe-bars just downstairs, grocery shops, tapas-bars.
And especially, the legendary Barcelona live-music and concert club - SALA APOLO is just 200 meters from this Barceloan apartment. You can find a great variety of live-music events there: from jazz, to rock, blues, swing, FLAMENCO and many others.

Bus D-20 perfect for direct transport to the Barceloneta beach (you can also walk, it's about 20 min, along the Old Harbor). There are also night buses from the same bus stop.

There is a BIKE RENTAL nearby.
There is a direct bus to the Prat Airport from Plaza España.

Interaction with Guests

I do my best to personally welcome my guests at home. If I am not able to do it, a trusted friend of mine takes care on my guests. All the time myself or my friend are pending on the guest's stay. In case of any problem we are ready to help.

The Neighborhood

The Poble Sec district is a part of Barcelona located at the foot of Montjuic, whose central thoroughfare is the Avinguda del Paral·lel, few steps from this Barcelona apartment.
Avinguda del Paral·lel for decades was the centre of the city’s nightlife with a dozen theatres, numerous music halls and cafés peopled by cabaret artists and bon viveurs; a steamy mix of eroticism and anarchism.
When the street was officially opened in October 1894, it was already home to a burgeoning entertainment industry of cafés, music halls and, particularly towards the port end, brothels. By the early 20th century, it had as many as 10 theatres and several music and dance halls along a stretch of barely 300 fun-laden metres, leading to the avenue’s nickname of the ‘Montmartre barcelonés’.
In addition to El Molino musical hall, today just three theatres remain: Apolo, Condal and Victoria, but the city council has recently purchased the old Arnau theatre, which has stood in a sorry state for several years, with the aim of turning it into an as-yet-unspecified cultural centre. The plan forms part of a project to return Barcelona’s Broadway to its former glory, making what the council calls an “avenue of leisure” for the city.

  • We had a great stay in Aga's apartment! The location was very close to restaurants, a grocery store and shopping. We could walk so many places. There were 3 of us and we each had our own bed and privacy. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the busy street below. Aga was very helpful and provided us with maps, guidebooks to reference and showed us where things were on the map. The apartment is up 5 flights of stairs, so pack light! There are also restaurants below and it can be loud at night, but both of these things we were expecting. All around great stay.

  • Great apartment! Aga was amazing! She met us at the apartment and was nice enough to give us a 15 minute synopsis of the entire city. The apartment was well kept and clean! I highly recommend this apartment!

  • A lovely apartment in a good location! However our trip started very badly due to an incredibly disappointing check in.
    We rushed from the airport very concerned about keeping Aga waiting. We arrived at the apartment at 4:15pm as agreed to be told that we could not have access until 8pm due to a broken shower. We were annoyed about the 'maintenance work' that had to be carried out but very glad that she was getting it sorted so quickly for us. Aga sat us down for 20 mins to go through sights and places of interest which was very useful but then we had to leave without getting changed or unpacking after a very long journey. We arrived back at the apartment early at 7:40pm as we were exhausted but were not allowed in the apartment. We explained to Aga that we needed to come in as we were very tired and had paid to be there and really did not mind waiting whilst the handyman finished. It was then that she confessed she had lied to us- there was no broken shower- and had allowed another guest to stay in the apartment that day until 8pm to have a rest and use the shower. The guest was still there and did not leave until after 8pm. We were shocked and incredibly upset especially had we had told Aga several times earlier it was our 1st wedding anniversary and our plans for a lovely evening had been ruined with this long delay. Aga was apologetic but no compensation of any kind was offered to us or response to an email sent for our lost afternoon/ evening on a short break. We had also spoken to Aga earlier in the day and nothing was mentioned about the delay- if it had been we may have been able to plan something. Other than the disappointing start of Aga lying to us we enjoyed our stay in her apartment which had everything we needed and is very spacious.

    Response from Aga:

    I would probably modify some details of Joanna's description, but I understand that she wanted to express her feelings. After Joanna's and her partner's arrival I told them that the flat would be eventually available since 8 pm, and it didn't seem that was a big problem for the guests. Otherwise, I would probably find some other solution and all the situation would be less "dramatical". Anyway, please apologize again for the inconvenience, its also an experience for me. I hope that the rest of your stay was pleasant. Kind regards. Aga.

  • Appartamento come da descrizione, posizionato in una via piena di locali e ed alimentari, in più la fermata della dietro a due isolati.

    I suggerimenti di Aga sono molto utili, andate a mangiare dove consiglia lei!

    Apt ok, in the neighborhood there are a lot of shops and stores, metro's station is very near and if you want you can reach many POI by foot.
    We suggest to follow Aga's suggestions about dining , a couple of places we tried were amazing!

  • Aga's apartment is awesome, very close to La Rambla. The direction from airport to the apartment is very clear. And the apartment is very spacious, have everything we need. Aga gave us an advice for visiting Barcelona by walk. It does really nice to visit all the city by walking.

  • Great place, definitely a keeper for future visits. Since I live in Spain, know Barcelona fairly well and was in town one night to meet a long-unseen friend, didn't need all the materials Aga had ready. Love the neighborhood ecosystem, if you value staying in a real world Barcelona 'hood with easy access to tourist sights and metro/subway, definitely should be on your list. Mid-week stay and I'm night person anyway so can't comment on noise factor but no trouble sleeping. Only drawback is no elevator for people with big baggage.
