I came to New York for a fresh start. I came across this place and I found it to be perfect for my situation. I needed a room that's quiet, comfortable, one that has access to a bathroom and a kitchen. The room was exactly how it was described. I was comfortable enough to stay for two months while I was securing my own foothold in the city. If I had problems or questions, kwesi was quick to respond. My experience overall was great.
For the price, the place was good. However, know that even though you are a short ride from the Lower East Side, the location is not as convenient or easy to get to - especially if you have multiple trips to make back home. If you leave early in the morning and come back at night just to sleep, then it's a good spot. Know that the JZ line that brings you home, is closed at random times, and simply doesn't operate between Saturday 1 am and Monday morning. I had to find out the hard way. Ended up getting stuck in Manhattan and staying at a friend's place in Harlem. And some weekend days, the train doesn't pass from the platform where it normally does at Fulton station. I had to take the AC line on two occasions to Utica, and take a cab from there. I would definitely have paid more for a better location having known how flakey the JZ train is. That being said, the building was safe, the area was charming and had tons of character, and apartment was clean and great for the price. Had zero problems with the host - he was quick and responsive via text messaging and email.
NYC is always expanding and changing it's lines, and I am not in front of the tv or the metro website all day to know what's going on in terms of traveling. If there are any changes or delays with the metro(subway system), I will advise all future guests going forward to check the ((website hidden)) website before they travel. The J train is 2 blocks from the Apartment and 15 minutes into Manhattan. I do not control the metro only the apartment :)...Thanks
The room is plain and simple, small and well-priced. Exactly as advertised, very good value for a single person who needs a place to sleep. Big kitchen and sitting area are also in the place, the whole apartment is well-maintained. The immediate area around the building is not the most fun for a tourist in NYC, but it is pretty close to Brooklyn and the lower east side. It is about 30 minutes on transit or an $18 cab ride from the Village.
Everything was as expected for the price. Nice location, near the J line that could take you to Manhattan very quickly. Kwesi is a fantastic host, even if I don't know him personally, he answers his phone all the time (even at 1AM!) and fix whatever issue you might have. Recommended for short stays.
For the price Kwesi asks for this room you will not find anything better! Although its location was further than I wanted... The subway station (J) is close and there are also a bus stop right in front of the building (good to go to other trains stations.)
The room was small and simple, with no windows, but I did not need anything else.
Having a kitchen helped me save some money cooking dinners and breakfasts.
The restroom had a good shower but sometimes I had to wait other guests before using it.
All the contact with Kwesi went fine. He sent detailed information, by email and sms, and let me check in at a late time. He also got me a can opener after I asked!
Great host, would stay there again if in a short budget!
This was my first time really using airbnb for a reservation and I did so at the last minute after finding out that my original accommodations were no longer "open for business".
I am afraid that this experience was so AWESOME for me that I may have unreasonably high expectations of other places in the future.
I had a private room that was clean with a comfortable twin bed and free wi-fi.
The food shop on the corner carries the basics and the place is about a 5 minute walk from the subway and major food shops.
I was visiting for work purposes, and it was convenient and private enough that I could relax when I came in at night, shower, make myself a little dinner and watch some Netflix before crashing out for the night.
It was great!
Fine for a short stay in NY, small, clean private room. Easy to get to central NY on the train but I would have preferred to be more central personally.
This is my first experience on this site and I'm very satisfied. Kwesi is excelent and friendly hoist. Clean apartment, good location, few minutes walk from train. Room is not very big but if you need place for stay for few days you will not find any better deal than this. I stay four weeks and feel very confortable. If I come back to New York I know where to stay. I recommend Kwesi!
My time there was short. However the place was well maintain and the noise level was low. in addition the room was close to food and transportation.
It was very clean, and Kwesi was very easy to contact, happy to answer all questions. The only drawback would be the neighborhood...I was happy to be accompanied by my rugby player friend! I would not have stayed there alone, as a young girl.
Nevertheless, the apartment was very comfortable, and I would stay there again!
The rooms were a very comfortable temperature, as you can regulate the heat, but quite small. There is a kitchen if cooking is necessary.
I think it is a good option for a few nights, but maybe not for more than a week.
