La Casita is a lovely place. Located in a quiet neighborhood it is surrounded by lush greenery with birds and butterflies populating the well-landscaped garden. The house was designed and furnished with great care. Communication with Trudy prior to our arrival was quick and efficient. She answered all questions I had about the house and provided the neighbor's contact info since she was not there. I am pretty sure that it is an enjoyable place during the dry season. However, the wet season brought some challenges that were unforeseen by Trudy. The problem with overwhelmed plumbing during and after the heavy storm forced us to leave the place just after 2 days. It was a shame since we planned to stay there for a prolonged period of time.
There are couple things to note about the house:
1. it has cold water only. I guess it’s Ok during dry season, but after 2 days of constant rain without any sun to warm up the pipes, the water became much colder than I anticipated;
2. the place is difficult to find if you try to follow the provided directions. The best strategy is to come to Cahuita vicinity and call the contact (that Trudy provides) for further directions.
We had the best time at the beautiful Casita del Encanto. It truly was our home for two months. The best- the house, the comfort and the setting- truly living in the rainforest with daily visits from monkeys, many bird species and even a sloth. The challenges were minimal and resolved easily either with Trudy's help or on our own. What a wonderful opportunity. Cahuita rules.
Trudy was excellent communicating with us prior to our trip and was also responsive when we arrived at the home and had questions about the house. The home is beautiful and has several outdoor spaces to relax while enjoying the beautiful landscaping.
A few things to note if you stay here. There is no hot water. The water is not freezing cold, but definitely not warm. Also, the locks on the doors can be a bit complicated so make sure to ask for some instructions before you go.
Sorry about the propane. We will make sure the tank is full for our next guests. Actually we ourselves prefer cooking in the outdoor kitchen on the electric cooktop. I'm glad you were able to make use of it. Thanks for being a good sport
Next week we will be in Cahuita and look after the key issues.
About the Host, Trudy
We are retirees, spending as much time as we can in pleasant surroundings, doing things we like. We both are energy healers, caring for and helping ourselves, our family and friends, animals, plants and the environment. Our Cahuita home and yard is filled with positive energy and vibrancy. When we are not there, we like to provide other people with an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and tranquility it offers. We have traveled and vacationed in over 20 countries and finally decided on Cahuita, Costa Rica to be the place to settle for the remainider of our winters. We like the quite of nature, the friendliness of local people in a small town where everyone knows every one else . We like having neighbors who care and are willing to help each other when needed. We love nature walks, bicycling and swimming in the ocean. We like to get to know the people who stay at our home, and are only one email away to answer any questions.
