Interaction with Guests
We love to meet new people and give suggestions on places to go and things to see. We also value and respect privacy. If you ever need anything or have a question, I can be reached personally by phone or text message.
The neighborhood is one of the best and safest neighborhoods in Oakland. When you walk out the door, you are greeted by tree-lined streets with neat older homes (mostly 1920's-1930's architecture).
It is an 8-10 minute walk down to popular College Avenue, where you will find many boutiques, bookstores, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants (some are award-winning). We highlighted some that we especially like on the map (you'll see it if you scroll down near the bottom of this page).
Local grocery stores include Safeway, Trader Joe's, and Rockridge Market Hall.
If you plan to use public transportation, the Rockridge BART station is a 13 minute walk from the house (easy access to San Francisco, Berkeley, and surrounding areas).
If you plan on having a car with you, there is always free and safe street parking right in front of the house (unlike many other parts of the Bay Area).
Other Things to Note
We have a cat living here. You may or may not see him during your stay, as he is outside much of the time and otherwise stays in the rooms for us that live here. :)
Be kind. Be you. Have a good time. :)
I never met Fig, but was greeted by her housemate Kitty who got me settled in to the place upon arrival. The room was really large, comfortable and homey, with plenty of closet space, a desk to work at and right next to the shared bathroom. The house is about 10 minutes walk to College Avenue--all the restaurants and shops you'd need. Many thanks!
I love fig's place! Super relaxing and super friendly. To be honest, I'm going to miss this place. Thank you Fig!
Fig and Kitty were great hosts. The room was comfortable and the neighborhood is convenient for getting around and has lots of restaurants within walking distance.
It was great staying with Fig and Kitty. The room is nice and the kitchen and bathroom too. The area is lovely, green and close to the BART plus shops and cafés.
The hosts were really nice and helpful, and we loved that there was breakfast for the guests (us) in the kitchen.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
My stay was great! Fig was really helpful and cordial. She was a great host and helped me figure out my way around the neighborhood and gave me some good recommendations. The pictures were very accurate and the room was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and has a few neat restaurants/boutiques/coffee shops. I definitely recommend this listing to anyone staying in the rockridge area!
We loved staying at Fig's place in Rockridge! We are more of the type of traveler who likes a bit of privacy after being out and about, so it was great to have the separate entrance and space to ourselves to relax. We never actually met Fig, but the person who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and made sure we were taken care of. The bedroom is great - spacious and comfortable, and the bed was comfortable as well. The neighborhood is convenient -- getting around on BART is easy (it's a nice walk!), and so is parking on the street if you have a car. Lots of great places to grab a bite or a drink nearby. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again!
We had a very comfortable stay at Fig's house. The bedroom is large and the bed very comfortable. The kitchen was very useful and everything you need plus breakfast and snack options available to guests. Within a short walk is a fantastic strip with cafes, restaurants and shops plus the BART station to take you into SF.
