The space
Guests have repeatedly remarked on all the amenities provided, such as coffee beans and grinder, hair dryer, iron, local disability services manual and more! This is my only Airbnb rental and, aside from my job, I give it a lot of personal attention. I hope that shows in the homey comfort and decor. I am always welcome and encouraging of guest feedback during their stay. If something could be better for you, please let me know and give me the opportunity to improve. Recent responses to guest feedback have included:
-New blinds
-Improved WiFi
-Improved outdoor lighting
-Improved self check-in process
Your comfort is what makes this sustainable for me.

Guest access
You will have the studio all to yourself! You also have a sitting area under the grape trellis for outdoor lounging. There is a shared grassy yard with raised beds and fruit trees and shrubs. There are 2 friendly dogs that live in the main house. They may be in the yard occasionally. You are welcome to eat any of the food in the yard or garden but please only take what you can eat (the main house and other guests eat it too). *Please note, landscaping is in a transition state and slowed due to Covid-19*

Other things to note
There are 2 sweet dogs in the main house. They are rarely in the backyard but it may happen. If you would like to avoid any potential interaction with fur babies, please ask and we are happy to accommodate.

Please keep gates closed at all times.

We have a $50/pet refundable pet deposit as long as there are no damages or need for excessive cleaning (so far we've had a 100% refund-return rate). We also charge $25/night per pet non-refundable pet fee. If your plans entail leaving your pet alone at the property, please communicate with me about that. Generally we do not allow pets to be left alone at the property. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate cats at this time. If you are planning to bring your pet, please inform me at the time of your booking. I will then send you a request for the deposit and pet fees via Airbnb. I will also leave some welcome gifts for your companion :) After you check out, if there are no damages or need for excessive cleaning, I will send you the deposit within 24-hours, again via Airbnb.

Please put keys back in lock boxes upon check out. We have a $100 fee for lost or missing keys. This is because we have to buy not just a replacement key, but also new locks.

Also please note, to conserve energy, we leave the heater off in between guests. The studio warms up very quickly once turned on.

We are in a centrally located part of town. Easy, quick access to head North or South via 7th or 14th. Nice park, basketball, bocce ball, and bike rental 1 block away.

You can access the waterfront and downtown/"Old Town", area via a 5-10 minute walk, or you can drive there in 2-3 minutes. We often have events going on downtown throughout the year, including Arts Alive, Live Music on the plaza weekly during the summer, two days/week of farmer's markets within walking distance, boat tours on The Madaket ("Worlds Smallest Bar"), Friday Night Market and much much more!

As with any city, it is not advised that you leave anything visible and/or valuable in your vehicle. No one here has ever had a problem, but I definitely want you to be aware and safe.

I moved from the East Coast to Humboldt County over 20 years ago. The rural setting and abundant nature adventures drew me here, and the community has stolen my heart. My day job as a Behavioral Consultant provides the opportunity to work with children of all ages, teens, and adults with a variety of developmental (dis)abilities. I love my job! Every day is different and I consistently learn new things from the folks I work with. When I am not working my day job, or hosting, you will find me gardening, hiking in the woods looking for mushrooms and other nature treasures, or on the water sailing, kayaking or fishing. I am passionate about the environment, social equality and justice. I have a sweet rescue dog who loves to play with others. I also play and dance samba! One of the things I love most about hosting through AirBnB is the connections I get to make and stories I get to hear from people all over the world.
