Other things to note
Things to remember:
The Cocoon house is completely off grid.
Delicious sweet water from the sky is precious, so please use it thoughtfully. NO CAR WASHING!
Power is from the sun, however backed up with a petrol generator, so again please use thoughtfully.
The home is naturally heated by passive solar orientation and a slow combustion wood / solid fuel heater, supplemented with a heat recovery system. The system harvests the sun generated heat from the roof space then distributes filtered warm air throughout the home in the colder months and efficiently expels hot stale air in the warmer months.
Note: The use of portable electric heaters are NOT permitted due to high power consumption!! However there's a wall mounted electric panel heater in the bunk room on the lower floor. Please refrain from leaving on for extended periods to avoid draining the power supply.

The reed beds to the north of the house are home to smaller creatures, and the dam is full of yabbies – however please remember this is wild country so take care when exploring. There are some old mine shafts in the forested areas of the property and in Wombat State forest so please take care.

Kevin began his career over thirty years ago, gaining valuable experience in architectural design & documentation, presentation, structural documentation, specification writing, building supervision, contract administration, tendering and liaison with associated consultants, and local authorities. Kevin’s passion is helping clients create their own, individual sanctuary, however he also recognised the need for a specific design that responded to our changing climate including the extreme weather events that houses in rural and coastal areas are often exposed to. His design brief included an extensive list of criteria that should be considered : environmental sustainability, durability, semi-prefabrication, low embodied energy, highly secure, fire and storm resistance. The Convertible House was born.
