Interaction with Guests
As much as possible or invisible if you want. I will try to meet with arriving guests and show them the area. Whenever guests need information or recommendations, I am always available via messaging or phone.
The Sheung Wan neighbourhood is ever changing and a fantastic mix of "old' and "new" Hong Kong. This apartment is located in the heart of Hong Kong's commercial, cultural and shopping districts and within short walking distance to the subway and HK Macau Ferry Pier. A few minutes walk away from the harbour front and the fantastic Sun Yat Sun Memorial Park and Public swimming pool over look the world famous Victoria Harbor.
The Sheung Wan MTR station is but 8 min walking distance away that takes you all over Hong Kong and Kowloon. There are also buses, trams, minibuses that run near the doorstep of the building on Des Voeux Road West Road and take you to every corner of the island and beyond.
Other Things to Note
Once you arrive in Hong Kong, everything is quite simple and all starts with a call from the FREE phones at the airport located in the hall immediately after you pass through baggage customs. There is also a Visitors Center there if you would like to pick up some maps, local travel guides, etc. to read on your way to the apartment. If you need a local SIM card, there is a 7-11 in the middle section of the main arrival hall where they see all types of SIM cards, I usually prefer the PCCW brand as it is the larges local operator.
This is a Strictly NON SMOKING Flat.
UPON ARRIVAL AT PROPERTY, ALL GUESTS MUST WAIT FOR ME AT THE FRONT GATE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. BUILDING RESIDENTS WILL COMPLAIN TO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IF THE LOBBY AREA INSIDE BUILDING IS BLOCKED. THANKS FOR YOUR KIND UNDERSTANDING FOR AN ENJOYABLE STAY.
Check in time is AFTER 12:30 pm. Make sure to contact us by phone at least 30 minutes prior to arrival such that we can meet you at the flat to hand you the keys and acquaint you to the surroundings. As this is a family business, please try your best to arrive at the apartment as early as possible. After 11:30pm as transport to the apartment is limited for us, we have to charge HKD150 to cover our taxi transport cost to and from the apartment. We are generally exhausted at the end of the day and we really would rather you arrive early and not have to charge this.
Guests must wait for us OUTSIDE the building upon arrival and not enter the building without us as this causes unnecessary misunderstandings with the property management and residents of the buildings.
Check out time is STRICT at 11:00 am. NO EXCEPTIONS or you will be charged for an extra full day. Our cleaning crew will arrive at 11:00 am to service the flat for the next guest, thanks for your cooperation.
Please help us save the environment by turning off electrical appliances when leaving the apartment or not using them.
Water heater needs to be turned off when not using. If it breaks due to prolonged time left on, you will not have any hot water for your stay and will be subject to expensive repair charges.
In the case that you have an evening departure flight:
Please note that you can check in your luggage at anytime during the same day as your flight at the Hong Kong Station Airport Express, which is only a 5 minute taxi or bus ride from the apartment. That way you would be free to explore the city on your last day, not having to worry about your luggage or rushing to the airport since you have already checked in, you will not have to be at the airport as early as everyone else.
All airlines flying from Hong Kong airport offer In Town check in, EXCEPT the following:
Jetstar Asia Airlines
Good communication, I thought the pics portrayed two double beds, that was my bad the second is a pull out but it was fine! Easy going host, no problems.
Great communication and accommodations were exactly as described. Great location within walking distance to "central" Hong Kong. Would certainly stay again!
I rented the apartment for two months and had a wonderful time. This visit to Hong Kong was extended because I decided to finally take a Cantonese language course. Brendan, his mother, and the service support staff were all terrific and very responsive.
A few times the Wi-Fi was wonky but they fixed it right away. When I pointed out the day before my departure that the hot water supply to the shower would run out after less than 5 minutes of showering they told me they would replace the hot water heater to allow for longer showering for future guests. The only other minor thing for me, because I was a student and had written homework to do regularly, was that the TV is not mounted on the wall, as the photo indicates it is. Instead, it took up almost half of the desktop space, which limited my ability to use it as a writing desk.
The location is great. I took advantage of the swimming pool across the street, which is modern, clean, and large, with nice lockers in the showering area. The park where the swimming pool is is also a treat - right on the waterfront. If one wishes one can walk from the park along the waterfront, through the Macau ferry terminal, and back to the waterfront all the way to Central, which I did on a number of occasions. Hollywood Rd is also just steps away. The tramway is also a reliable form of transportation. In March of 2015, I understand that the MTR (subway) stop that is being constructed just around the corner from the flat will open.
The furnishings were new and clean. As I was leaving I noticed that new wallpaper is going up in pubic areas around the flat. Brendan and his family do a good job of maintaining the facilities.
I would definitely return to this flat the next time I come to Hong Kong, which I hope is soon.
Exactly as described and in photos - has everything you need, and is a 10 minute (fast) walk to the metro station. Ideal for a few days sightseeing as a solo traveller.
Brendan's mother welcomed us and explained how everything works and what we could find in the neighborhood. The flat is as stated on Airbnb and you can access public transportation very easily. No problem whatsoever, thanks!
I have stayed in Brendan's apartments in the past and found them to be great value for money in a good location.
Unfortunately both times I had to call several times as nobody arrived at the alotted check in time and I had to reschedule check in times, which was a bit annoying. I recommend re-confirming with Brendan or his Mum by phone the check in time.
