Live like a Local - Party like a Local!

Guest Access

Access to the whole house, patio/garden and garage by paid airbnb guests for the dates of the reservation. No exceptions unless prior arrangements are made & approved by me.

Interaction with Guests

I will greet you upon arrival to show you the place or make arrangements to leave the keys. I will be available any time by phone but otherwise I trust you to enjoy the beauty of the property. Call me as needed.

The Neighborhood

Dream Beach Cottage is only 4 blocks away from the beautiful palm lined Marina with its walking & biking path, the Ferry terminal, Panama Red's coffee shop & several restaurants along it's 2 mile stretch that leads over a draw bridge to Mare Island. A public golf course is there with amazing views of the Bay.

It is only 15 miles to Napa or Berkeley, 30 minutes to Sonoma, an hour or so to the Redwoods & the Ocean. The Ferry to San Francisco takes less than an hour.

Northern Napa Valley takes you to Calistoga with it's famous mud baths or 16 more miles up the mountain to Harbin Hot Springs and more hiking, biking at the State Parks close to Cobb Mountain.

We have the best weather in the Bay Area - Vallejo is mostly mild & sunny! Love that!

There is a Farmers Market every Saturday 9-1 pm Downtown on Georgia Ave with fresh produce, fruits, honey, nuts, baked goods, food vendors plus the local stores are open & ready for exploration. The fresh eggs are a must!

Also on Saturday mornings try the Coffee Tasting at Moschetti's Artisan Coffee Roaster, just a short walk from the cottage. Music, artist wares for sale, and some yummy food. The coffee is so good that I provide it for my guests!

I have provided a folder with the info & address for groceries & restaurants close by.

It also has extra labeled sections with places to go, fun things to do, my favorite restaurants, wineries, etc. in Napa, Sonoma, the Beaches & surrounding towns on the way.

Of course don't miss all that San Francisco has to offer. Just ask - I can give you my take as a local.

I have maps & brochures ready to use in planning your day trips in this area.

Getting around

Public bus stop across the street. Ferry 4 blocks away. Closest Bart Station is 15 miles away called "Del Norte" on the San Pablo - El Cerrito border. You can park your car there safely for $1.

Other Things to Note

Feel free to ask me for special requests! I can help plan for a special time or occasion held here - I know the area & am delighted to share.

  • Where to start?! I stayed three whole weeks in the Dream Beach Cottage. Valery made her home feel like my own in a very short space of time: she was sociable when that suited me, and left me to my own devices too; prepared me wonderful breakfasts of fresh fruit salad every morning, sometimes with fruit from her own citrus trees; I could use the serene and sunny backyard to meditate and "take the rays"; when my cell phone was stolen in a local supermarket, Valery sprang into action and helped me call the police, and find the best ways online to limit the damage, helped me find the local phone store, and was really caring. She came to several events at the Napa Music Festival at which I was teaching - I could go on and on. It was like staying with my favourite relative! I was really sad to leave.

  • We were a party of 4 that were adequately accommodated in the Dream Beach Cottage with the 2 bedrooms, pullout couch and 2 bathrooms for 5 nights. Valery is an open and generous host. Her creative energy is present throughout the house as well as in the secluded back courtyard and gardens. We choose Vallejo because we wanted to be near our 24 year old son who was in a competition at the California State University, Vallejo campus, otherwise, we had no reason to be in Vallejo. Still we came thinking of it as a vacation destination (mistakenly). As visitors, we very soon found out that the old town, including Dream Beach Cottage neighbourhood is a sketchy place - a place that once had glory but those days have gone: a main street (Georgia Str) with lots of vacancy and little activity; a vacant house next door, another across the street, beside a vacant lot; visiting female student competitors were explicitly told to not walk anywhere from campus after dark; a service station attendant a few blocks from the Cottage told us it was not a safe place at night. Our first two nights at the Cottage were very hot inside, the air conditioning was not working and I was hesitant to have a wide open window (as visitors, we didn't really know what to expect in the neighbourhood - could have been safe but no one told us one way or the other). Hard to sleep in the heat, hard to sleep with my paranoia. The two twenty-something year old women with us were fine with the place, they just didn't go jogging or walking and enjoyed the back courtyard (it was locked securely at both gates and surrounded by large beautiful blossoming trees and high clap board fencing). We enjoyed a family dinner, al fresco, in the courtyard one evening. The garage was essential for parking our vehicle overnight, we were thankful for that, had to overlook the clutter inside it. The garden needed tending (pruning, cleanup of fallen fruit and leaves, general sweeping and cleaning of courtyard), and the bbq needed cleaning (caught fire when first lit from so much grease).

    Response from Valery:

I am sure that Cate is a very fine person who tries her best.

When I tried to make arrangements regarding her arrival, she did not
respond at all by email, text or phone & just showed up very late the day
of her reservation causing me to have to cancel my previous plans.

After meeting her & knowing she was new to airbnb with no review history, I
felt assured that she would treat my cottage in a fine fashion. However I
regret to say that I would recommend caution in dealing with this person &
require very clear communication from the start.

She is the first airbnb guest that I have had to file a claim against for
the damages left to my cottage and personal property.

I could respond to each of Cate’s comments but we all know clearly that
Vallejo is not Napa but then again I don’t charge Napa prices either - as
I clearly state. Also I don’t have an air conditioner nor is one advertised
    - I do have ceiling fans. Reading house rules are very important!

I wish I had not experienced disappointment with Cate and I wish her well.

  • Valery is a wonderful and helpful host. She is very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay at her beach cottage. Valery always give us plenty of heads up time for when she's dropping by to water her garden. She is very easy to get a hold if for when we have questions or concerns. She even made some welcoming muffins when we first arrived.

The beach cottage is exceptionally clean and well kept throughout. There are many art works on display in the entire place, which makes the cottage feels warm and inviting. Even though Vallejo itself might not be the friendliest town in America, the cottage itself is very secure and well fenced. As long as renter follows Valery's safety guidelines there shouldn't be any issues. There is a good sized garden in the back of the cottage with orange and lemon trees as wells as multiple types of herbs.

The town of Vallejo gets lots of sunshine and clear skies throughout the year. The cottage is situated minutes from bay water and docks. It's also close to House of Soul restaurant, which serves the best soul food in the entire bay area. Overall Valery's beach cottage is highly recommended.

  • We had a great time staying at Valery's home in Vallejo. Her cottage is cozy and eclectic with lots of interesting art, a lovely courtyard with gardens and fruit trees and a truly lovable cat. Things were clean, the beds were comfy and the kitchen was well stocked. Valery was a warm and welcoming host and really made us feel like we could make ourselves at home. She let us check in early, really early in fact since our flight arrived at 5:30 am. She just told us to come and she didn't rush us to check out which was greatly appreciated.

Vallejo itself is not terribly exciting although we did find some sweet parks and playgrounds to visit with our daughter and fell in love with Mi Pueblo groceria that was 2 minutes away and had super yummy Mexican. Also the farmers market is very close by and is pretty awesome. The neighborhood isn't as cute as valery's home but it was pretty quiet and we had no problems while making Our way around. Valery (email hidden) to the area which helped us pick places to eat and explore. It was also easy to get into San Francisco, about 45 minutes during off peek hours.

This was our first air bnb experience and we were definitely happy with!

    Thank you Valery!

  • Valery is a wonderful host and her house an oasis in the neighbourhood. We loved the space, the garden and Mr Fred. Valery's recommendations were fantastic and completely spot on, we took her red folder with us everywhere!
Thank you once again Valery, for the last minute request, and for letting us stay on an extra night too - wonderful!

  • I am a newbie to AirBnB, so I could tell you honestly what my first time experience is. I can't compare to others, but I hope they live up to the standard that Valery has provided for myself and family. We had an incredible stay;. We went to San Francisco to sightsee, but our stay was so great that we didn't want to leave the house.
Valery's house was exceedingly clean, comfortable with a great open view. Bright windows to let in the sun, a beautiful huge private yard with a barbecue, and delicious fruit trees and plants. Her cat "Fred" was most welcoming & completely out of our way.
If you are still shopping other AirBnB homes, I strongly urge you to consider Valery's house. You will not be disappointed and there's so much to say about it from the comfortable beds, to the quiet street, to the safety we felt in her home. If the occasion arises again, WE WILL BE BACK! Thanks, Valery! You are the best!!

  • Valery has welcome us warmly and had left us some good tips to visit. We had a great time in the beautiful cottage and appreciated the equipment . We spent also some quality moments with Valery as an experienced guide in Point Reyes Station, Redwoods and the Ocean Beach. Vallejo is an ideal spot to tour the bay area, the Marine County, Napa Valley, Oakland, easy traffic conditions, warmer temperatures and a ferry line to San Francisco.

  • Charming house, very easy to get around the Sonoma and Napa Valley area. Valery left lots of little special items for our enjoyment, we have a lovely 4 days. Love the backyard. Thanks so much!
