Beautiful area
Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Our lovely 1920s Bach is a one-minute walk from the beach which is over 100kms long. With quirky character & few mod-cons this is a place to be away from the TV, rest up & enjoy stunning nature on the doorstep. We have kept as many original features as possible, so you get to experience a traditional Kiwi holiday - with a few added comforts. We are dog friendly - check the house rules. Fibre WIFI very efficient. BBQ available. Maximum guest number is 3 including children/infants/babies.
The space
Our much loved original bach (holiday home) is creative and comfortable, away from TV, although we do have Fibre WIFI. Explore NZs longest drivable beach one minute walk away, check out the 18 hole golf course close-by, enjoy fish and chips from the local dairy "Sharkys" or try eating in from their house menu. You can also drive into town and visit the local museum, check out the town shops and the riverside gardens (behind Countdown). And, if you would like to get married while you are on this wonderful west coast beach I am a very experienced licensed celebrant.
We do not charge a cleaning fee so we ask that you leave our space clean and tidy. There will be simple breakfast supplies provided for you.
If there are 3 of you staying do note the original bedroom "doors" are still in place - which are in fact curtains so privacy is limited.
Please also note, you'll find drums, art materials and other interesting creative items there too. If you're looking for a quirky, interesting space with history this will be your kind of place. If you like air-conditioning and a modern vibe, it won't be!

You will have sole use of the cottage. Sometimes, especially in winter, you'll have sole use of the beach too. There is a lockbox for the key so if you're going to be late it is no problem - let us know & we'll make sure the lights are on to make it easy for your arrival.
Other things to note
Please note we have a maximum number of 3 guests including infants and a no tent or campervan policy. If you are bringing a baby (12 months & under) feel free to book for 2 people otherwise please book for 3.
If you need anything that isn't at the Bach, we may be able to assist - feel free to ask, we are very close by and are happy help if we are able to.
We do have a lovely Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) called Luna, if you are away from home for a while and missing your dog she'll be happy to come and say hello!

Where you’ll be
Baylys Beach, Northland, New Zealand
The community at Baylys Beach are very welcoming to visitors. There is an active Baylys Beach Community Society who make sure the environment around us is well looked after. We have a stunning cliff walk with seating along the way so people can rest and enjoy the views. Our brand new Community Centre has now opened (November 2020), there are different events happening there and if you want to book it for a function please do let me know.

My work: Creative Arts Therapist. Counsellor, Celebrant.
I work as a counsellor, and arts therapist - often from the bach during the week and also for our local Hospice in Dargaville. I am also an experienced Celebrant for both Weddings and Funerals. I love West African Drumming, dogs and travelling. Graeme is my husband; he is very knowledgeable about the beach and surrounding area having grown up here.
We enjoy using Airbnb on our travels & want our guests to have a great stay at Baylys.
