Our lovely 1920s Bach is one minute walk from the beach which is over 100kms long. Full of quirky character and very few mod-cons this is a place to be away from internet and TV, rest up and enjoy the stunning nature on the doorstep.
This original bach (holiday home) is quirky and comfortable, away from TV, Internet and other mod cons (although there is an iPod dock if you can't be away from your music)! Enjoy NZs longest driveable beach one minute walk away, check out the 18 hole golf course close-by, enjoy food and possibly some live music at The Funky Fish café or drive into town and visit our boutique state of the art cinema.
You will have sole use of the cottage. Sometimes, especially in winter, you'll have sole use of the beach too!
Interaction with Guests
We live close by and so are on hand if needed. We respect your privacy and so will only visit if you want us too - same goes for our dog Bella!

Bach was perfect - charming, cute and homely. The weather wasn't great but the beach was still stunning and it was so easy to relax and unwind. Josie and Graham made us feel really welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Had such a lovely stay - thank you so much! We hope to be back again soon :)
Josie, thanks so much for having us to stay at the little orange cottage. We felt very comfortable there.
The house was very clean and tidy - there were even fresh flowers in a vase on the table!
We enjoyed some of the chill-out music on the CDs you provided, appreciated the opportunity to talk with you about your local knowledge, and felt very fortunate to visit your house up the hill and try some fresh tua tua fritters there. That was very special for us.
We only have one regret that we didn't ask you to give us a drum-roll on one of your many your bongo drums - you clearly are very talented with your drumming!
Thanks again, Don, Sally and Georgia
Great traditional bach, very close to an epic beach. Josie was very responsive and helpful, Bach was very clean with a well stocked kitchen. Josie left some essentials in the fridge for us to enjoy, which was very nice, and lovely organic products in the bathroom. A highlight for our three-year old son was a drive on the beach with Josie's husband and dog - thanks a million! The nearest town, Dargaville, wasn't all that inspiring, but there were lots of other places that were worth a visit, especially the Kai Iwi fresh water dune lakes.
We loved our stay at Baylys Beach. Josie was a very welcoming host, who was great at communicating with us before and during our stay. We thought the bach was perfect for a couples retreat. The beach was wild but we enjoyed swimming and going for walks and a ride with Graeme and Bella on the quad bike.
Thanks again for a great holiday.
Great location tucked away in Baylys beach paradise! We loved our stay to bits!

I work as a counsellor, creative arts therapist and celebrant - mostly all from Baylys Beach, lucky me! Am passionate about African Drumming, love animals and travelling. Graeme is my lovely husband, he is very sociable and if our guests feel like a trip down the beach on our quad he's very happy to oblige - and will also pop the net on the back for a real west coast experience!
We've enjoyed using Airbnb on our travels and want our guests to have a great stay at Baylys Beach - having travelled around the world ourselves we understand that being made welcome and having those little extra touches can make a real difference to a holiday...
Our blue heeler Bella will come visit you if you are dog lovers (otherwise we'll make sure she doesn't) and most likely Mo our cat will come down to have a look at you too!
