My boyfriend and I decided to go to DC for the weekend and came across Colin and Karine's lovely apartment, but I was worried they wouldn't be able to accommodate us since we were getting in so late on Friday night (around 1:30AM). It seemed too good to be true, but Colin responded right away and said it wouldn't be a problem at all - we could come in anytime and just get the keys from their lockbox.
We arrived to a bottle of wine and a nice note from them, and they also offered a bunch restaurant suggestions that we really appreciated. Jimmy T's, a small diner near their place, is definitely worth a go.
As for the apartment itself, it was extremely clean and charming. I only wish we had gone during some non-snowy months so we could have used their backyard!
It was so conveniently located for us since we took the train to Union Station- it was about a 10 minute walk! We rented bikes near their place and easily rode to all the sites on the Mall, but it's a relatively quick walk as well. We had a fantastic weekend and it had a lot to do with where we were staying- so thank you Colin and Karine!
Very nice place, very quiet, and so close to the Mall. We could walk to basically everything we went to visit. Colin was very helpful with everything. We had a wonderful time in DC and I would highly recommend this place.
Wow! Location, Location, Location! What a sweet place to stay! We were so impressed with the location, literally a 5-10 minute walk to the steps of the Capitol and the Library of Congress. Colin and Karine left us all the information we needed to have a wonderful stay in DC. They left thorough information and tips which even made our stay better. We took their suggestions on several things, restaurants included, and were not disappointed.
A safe neighborhood, just a lovely building nestled right in the heart of it all. The little patio out back is super sweet as well. When in DC you go-go-go.... so it was quite pleasant to come home and relax in this nice home. If you are looking for a great place to stay in DC that will allow you to experience it all, stay here. The neighborhood is so lovely and peaceful. Tasteful, clean and homey.... our first experience with Airbnb was a hit. We were so lucky!
Our family loved staying in this house. It was quite comfortable for four people(2A/2C), centrally located and a great bonus of a private courtyard to enjoy. Thank Colin and Karina!
Perfect location, the apartment was very funky and Colin was a great host.
We had a wonderful stay at Colin and Karine's apartment. We felt like locals in their place! Their home was clean and well decorated, and was definitely historic and chic! We loved the high ceilings and open floor plan. The location is terrific--we walked to museums and to Union Station metro. If you come with a car, park it at Union Station (off H street, $22/day) and park it on the street Fri pm-Mon am to save $.
Colin supplied great notes on the apt and things to do, and responded to emails quickly. Thanks Colin + Karine!
If you're looking for the perfect home base form which to explore DC, this place is IT! It's a hop to the Capitol building, a skip to the Smithsonian museums, and a jump to the monument/memorials. Plus, it's not far from great spots to eat on H Street and near the market. In short, location is great.
And while we didn't get a chance to meet Colin and Karine in the flesh, their hospitality and general hip vibe could be felt the whole while we stayed here. Thanks for the great, comfortable and fun stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Colin and Karine's place. It is close enough to the Mall that we didn't have to use the metro which was a plus to us. Colin answered our questions promptly and also provided clear instructions, guidelines and tips (on where to eat).
We had a wonderful stay at Colin's place. The location was perfect - walking/biking distance from the Mall and very close to a bike share stand, farmers market and a great used book store. His house itself is very charming. That he is a bike enthusiast is clear from the many tasteful artworks on the walls and our families favorite - the bull head with horns made from an old bike seat and bike handles.
On the practical side of things- the place was very comfortable and Colin had provided a very handy list of tips to orient us within his home and the area around.
We would recommend his place very highly.
Colin's apartment is centrally located and within a few blocks of most of the tourist spots such Capitol, Library of Congress and Supreme Court. And with the Metro close by you can travel to other tourist spots easily. Well furnished and kept us cool even in the high heat of DC!
