Interaction with Guests
Portmagee Seaside Cottages is a family run business. The family is made up of Elizabeth and Francie and our children Paul (studying Engineering in Galway), Aisling (living and working in Australia) and Roisin (living and working in Luxembourg). We also have a farm with pedigree Charolais cows and ducks (which occasionally lay eggs which we are happy to share!). We have good local knowledge of all that is going on, we can recommend nice places to visit and know all the local boat and activity operators. In our spare time (which can be limited!) we are avid walkers. We would be happy to advise our guests on walking routes in the locality and time permitting might also be available to lead our guests on a walk.
Our cottages and farmhouses are located on the world famous Wild Atlantic Way! We are only 4 kilometers from Bray Head which is 1 of 15 signature discovery points on the entire 2,500 kilometer route which goes from Donegal to Cork. There are also numerous discovery points in the locality; we recommend that people download the Wild Atlantic Way app for further information.
Our properties are located just 3 kilometers from the charming fishing village of Portmagee. Portmagee is located in the South West of Ireland in the beautiful county of Kerry. The cottages sit on the coastline and look across the water to Valentia Island. They are on the waterfront with large open lawns, natural hedging and direct access to the seashore. We have two moorings in case you wish to bring your boat!
A car is recommended to get around as there is no public transport available in Portmagee.

Elizabeth' cottage is huge, very comfortable and the sea is right at the foot of a big garden. thanks for the lovely stay!
Everything was accurate. We couldn't have been more pleased with Portmagee Seaside Cottages. The house was large and it was great to have a yard AND the beach access. Perfect for a family. BUT would stay there without my kids too. A lot of great things to do nearby.
Portmagee seaside cottages is not your typical air BNB home as it's very much a holiday home venture and a real business. You are not entering someone's home . We met Elizabeth at the cottage when we arrived and all she did was let us in and struggle to help me with the workings of the TV but I was thankful all the same. We were very surprised that there were not more families staying in the whole complex which would have added to the atmosphere
Elizabeth's affection and respect for the environment is evident throughout Puffin cottages and surrounding area. The beautiful tranquil setting, lovely indigenous planting that encourages birds and wildlife provides for an oasis of calm.
Elizabeth has marked out local walks, off the beaten track that take you through pastures where you can see her beautiful farm and herd of Charolais cattle.
The house was very comfortable and is about 30 mins walk to Portmagee. The large living/kitchen looked out over the bay with a well appointed kitchen. The turf fire (turf provided) was the icing on the cake. I would highly recommend Puffin Cottages.
Lovely stay in nice house. Bad weather meant we couldn't enjoy the lovely garden and bbq deck but can imagine how lovely it could be in sunshine. A lovely turf fire kept us warm and cosy though. Loads of room and well kitted out.
Port magee is a great area to stay while touring the ring of kerry area. Lots to see and do. The cottages were about 2km out of the town. The rooms were large. They are vacation rental style cottages rather than lived in accommodations so some basics were not available but we were able to make do.
The cottage was located right on the water with absolutely stunning views of Valentia Island. The big open sitting room/dining room was perfect for a large group, and the lovely open fire with a big basket of fuel on arrival was wonderful. The coffee machine and dishwasher were great luxuries that we really appreciated! The heating didn't seem to be too expensive, except that it had been left on for us for quite a few hours before we got there, which amounted to half of the bill we payed in the end. It was lovely to arrive into a warm house though, and the final bill only came to €16 for 3 nights, so all in all the cottage was very good value. We only met Elizabeth very briefly but she seemed very pleasant and was happy to leave us to do our own thing, which suited us perfectly! The nearby village of Portmagee is beautiful and has some great pubs, and is only about a 30 min walk away or a 5 min drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and will definitely be back in the summer for another trip!
