Interaction with Guests
We are here most of the time. We will be here for check in, and to answer any questions, otherwise we won't bother your peace and quiet.
We are located on 5 acres at the top of a hill on a quiet country lane, very close to the village.
Our lane comes off of highway 1 and is a short drive to Mendocino. No sidewalks, so we do not recommend walking to town.
Other Things to Note
Bicycle and Kayak rentals are available at Big River here in Mendocino. The Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg are very nice and boats in the Noyo harbor are available for charter fishing and whale watching when the season is right. The Skunk train is also fun.
No smoking and no pets and no parties. 2 Adult maximum. Not suitable for children.
Check out at 11 am.
We had a wonderful stay in Howard's guest house. The listing is exactly as described, wifi was fast, and the kitchen was stocked with enough pots, pans, knives, etc to cook full meals for two. The house is immaculate, and the mattress was VERY comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
Thanks to Howard and Angela for beging such friendly hosts. We truly enjoyed our stay at the house and can fullheartedly recommend it to others! Mona & Jochen
Let me start of with saying my husband and I had a wonderful experience! This is the first time I had ever used airbnb so was not sure what I was doing. Howard was great at explaining everything and got back to my emails so quickly. When we arrived Howard was there to welcome us and ask if we needed anything. He said to give him a call if we did and we did not see him for the rest of our day but I knew if we needed him he would be right there. The guest house exceeded our expectations, it was so clean and updated....had everything you could want or need and had a great view. Howard had left a lot of instructions which is great I love that and also left us some goodies in the fridge which was so nice and thoughtful. I realized I had left my blow dryer at home and to my surprise there was one under the sink in the bathroom. I would for sure recommend this place to everyone visiting Mendocino or Fort Bragg. Thanks Howard for everything!
Our hosts are lovely people, very connected to the community as are we, with several family members in the area. We enjoyed the hosts and the excellent property, very well built and designed. Amid the comforts and appointments there is a spectacular view of forest and ocean. Especially loved the quiet and nature sounds.
This is an aptly named cottage. It is indeed serene and tranquil. The cottage is in immaculate condition and and quite cozy and comfortable. The instructions are clear and there was a welcoming bottle of local wine! I highly recommend this rental.
Our host, Howard met us when we arrived, and was briefly pleasant. He seemed to be wanted to be left alone, and we obliged him.
The location is perfect!! Just across the highway from Mendocino, and very close to Big River beach!
The restaurant suggested in the reading material was very decent, and we did clean our plates.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Serenity. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet, the view beautiful, the house nice and comfortable, the hosts gracious. We had everything we needed. It was perfect for us and we hope to stay there again in the future.
About the Host, Howard
My wife Angela and I have lived here in Mendocino for 26 years. I am a retired building contractor and Angela is an artist. She loves to paint and specializes in Mendocino scenes and the ocean. Her work can be viewed at the Panache gallery on Main St in Mendocino. We enjoy a walk around the headlands as often as possible and a kayak up the river.
