Enjoy this downstairs apartment attached to our home.We are in rural East Hawaii 1 block from the ocean cliffs at Kaloli Point Listen to the waves all night long. Enjoy the ocean breezes.Our private gated 1 acre retreat is full of interesting tropical plants and lava features. We are located between Hilo, Pahoa and Volcano Natl Park. We ARE NOT a resort or condominium. Pool, hot tub, sun deck and covered lanai for your use. You can see it all and have a quiet getaway spot to relax in.
Private off street parking.Enjoy the sounds of nature in rural Hawaii. Feel the tradewinds. You will see and hear all kinds of hawaiian wildlife. No street lights , traffic or busy developments. Guests enjoy their private apartment complete with covered lanai for outdoor dining. 1 full bath. Kitchenette has new dishes, glassware,coffeemaker,refrigerator, blender, rice cooker,toaster, electric skillet and microwave. BBQ grill on your patio for grilling out. You have access to the grounds, the pool and hot tub. Relax in a hammock. We have bikes to ride and trails to hike. There is everything you need for ocean fun-coolers,chairs, beach towels, boogie boards and snorkel gear!
Interaction with Guests
We provide fresh fruit and flowers in your apartment when you arrive. We will check you in and answer any questions. We live upstairs in the main house but give you complete privacy. The apartment has books and maps on Hawaii and information on what too see and do on your trip. We are glad to share our knowledge of the island and look forward to meeting you.
We are in a very rural area- 15 miles from Hilo, 7 miles from Keaau or Pahoa, 30 miles from Volcano Natl park and 2 hrs from Kona resorts. Enjoy the pahoehoe lava formations that border the property courtesy of Pele. Walk or ride bikes along the ocean. Hike out to shipman beach on an old hawaiian trail. It is so quiet and private here. You will hear the birds singing, the frogs chirping and the waves against the cliffs. No street lights to block your view of the stars at night. We live 1 block from sea cliffs that look out over the blue pacific at Kaloli Point.

So much to see and do! The Big island is huge and we live in a rural area. You must have a car. We are 15 miles from Hilo or Kapoho, 8 miles from Pahoa or Keaau, 30 miles from Volcano Natl park, 2 hrs drive to Kona or Waimea. Cruising around the island you will see so many beautiful places and getting there is half the fun! The towns of Hilo, Kona, Naalehu, Capt Cook, Waimea,Hawi, Honokaa, Volcano and Pahoa are wonderful to explore. Farmers markets, national parks, lava flows, beaches, museums, galleries, music and artists are everywhere you go. Try ziplining in the jungle,go hiking,whale watch, swim with dolphins, see a rainbow, learn to surf or scuba, go for a helicopter ride,hike the volcano. Learn about the culture and people of Hawaii. Don't forget the drive up to Mauna Kea for stargazing- we have jackets and blankets for cold weather excursions.
-No smoking in the unit or on the lanai.
- No diving in pool.
-Check in is 4 pm. Check out at 11am. Please don't try to check-in early unless already arranged as the cleaners need this time to prepare the apartment for your arrival.
-Please call or email owner with your estimated time of arrival or when you’re on your way to the house. She will arrange to meet you at house to give keys so you can enter the property.
-Only registered guests are allowed on the property.
-Turn off lights, appliances and fans while out to conserve energy.
- Be careful. We live on lava! Enjoy the grounds but watch your step. Lava is sharp and slippery. The sea cliffs and the ocean are dangerous! Enter at your own risk.
- Vehicles shall be parked in the designated parking area which is behind the house.
- This unit comes equipped with Wifi and Satellite TV by Dish. In case of a power outage the lights, TV and internet will not operate.
- Observe the Hawaiian style by removing your shoes before entering.
- Do not sit on furniture in wet swimsuits or with suntan oil on.
- Do not flush sanitary products down the toilet.
- No diving or running at the pool/hot tub area. The deck and concrete can be slippery when wet.
-Please use the ladder to get in and out of pool. The sides of the pool are not meant for standing or sitting. Enter at your own risk.
- We have bikes you can ride but bike usage is at your own risk.
- We use solar power when possible & use a rainwater catchment system for our water supply to conserve energy.
-Be considerate to your new neighbors! Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be louder than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
- No pets.
