About this listing
In these challenging economic times, why spend so much on an oceanfront rental when you can enjoy all the advantages of the beach on a low budget?
This centrally located, clean, no frills studio in the heart of the White Sands Beach area off of Ali`i Drive lets you enjoy a stay near the beach, yet just far enough away to avoid the sight and sound of traffic.
The ground floor studio is equipped with a kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. Wireless internet access is included. A gas grill, washer, and dryer are available for our guests.
Enjoy White Sands Beach for world-class bodysurfing and boogie boarding. Explore Kahalu`u Beach, what some call the best snorkel beach in the Hawai`i. Catch the trolley into downtown Kailua-Kona, a mere 4 miles away. Shop at Keauhou, just a mile south of the studio.
The FREE wireless high speed cable modem can be used on your own laptop or of course you can turn off all electronics and just hang out and read a good book.
Why pay for ocean front or ocean view that you will not see since you will be so busy on your daily island adventures all day anyway? Why pay for a pool when you will be jumping in the ocean just down the street? Why pay for an ocean view when you cannot see it at night? The reality is you will most likely want a comfortable private place to relax to get ready for another day in Paradise.
ALL GUESTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A RENTAL AGREEMENT PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AND THERE IS THE HAWAII ACCOMMODATIONS TAX COLLECTED UPON ARRIVAL OF $13.42%
Guests will be given directions directly to the rental

I actually live an hour away. I am available via phone and email. I do have an assistant that is available.
Nice quiet neighborhood with walking distance to two of Kailua-Kona's best beaches. To the South is Kahaluu Beach Park which has the best snorkeling on the Island. To the North is White Sands Beach (or Magic Sands Bach as the locals call it) Great boogie boarding and body surfing.
We have have the shuttle service that travels up and down Alii Drive from 7a to 7p. It is two dollars each directions per person. Otherwise with so much to do and see a rental car is the answer. Yes there is free parking at the rental.

Well, this is the worst experience that I have ever had in airbnb, first you have to sign some kind of agreement and then you need oh additional amount of money when you check in. Third, the place is not even clean enough for u to stay. The sheet in bed like 1 month not cleaned, have pet hair and food on top of it. I can only sleep with all my clothes on. I booked two nights but only stay for one, and moved out in early morning. I would highly recommend thinking through before you make reservations.
Unfortunately, our weekend getaway was not at all what we expected after reading all the great reviews this place had.
My fiancé and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary on Kona side. After looking through the different Air B&Bs, we found Bill's studio, and thought it would be a perfect fit for us. Bill's house was beautiful and in a great location close to beaches and nightlife (pretty much for his description to the T) Upon arrival around 4:00 pm, the first thing we saw was a cockroach laying on its back in the middle of the floor, and it was still alive, but on its way to death. We are from Hilo, so we just tried to ignore that fact plus it was dying. No biggie. We left the studio at 4:30 pm then came back around 9:30/10PM to find more cockroaches crawling on the floor by the bed and on the walls. We killed around 5 cockroaches in less than an hour and found ant like flies around the sink. Sadly, our room had a lot of bugs, and we were not pleased.
After experiencing the bugs, we checked the beddings, and to our surprise the comforter was stained and the inner blankets and pillow cases had stains on them as well. It was very disappointing knowing that whoever was supposed to prepare our room, did not do a thorough job cleaning the sheets before we arrived.
We then realized that we did not feel comfortable sleeping there. So we contacted Bill via email. We told Bill that this studio is not going to work out for us because the reasons listed above. Bill's first response was to move us to a different room, which was a kind gesture, however after experiencing the bugs in our room, we didn't really want to stay in any of the other rooms in the house. After asking for a refund, Bill was very difficult with us and upset with us for not considering his other option. So, we ended up not staying the night and expected a full refund, but we never did.
In all honesty, Bill was very hard to work with. He made our experience using Air B&B a very unpleasant one. When my fiancé emailed Bill about refunding us our money, he was very upset and said we didn't give him the opportunity to fix it (at that time, we just really did not want to stay in any of the rooms).
To sum it all up, the place was obviously not prepared for our arrival. Bill did not want to refund our money because of these issues.
I wish I could recommend this place to others because of the great location to beaches and nightlife, but after our experience with the bugs, stained sheets, and Bill's attitude, there's hardly anything positive we could say.
The neighborhood was lovely and I felt very safe strolling around the streets to enjoy flowering shrubs and trees. When we first arrived my name was on the door and everything was in order. The bed was very comfortable to me, which is not always the case in a hotel. The yard was also lovely. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a casual, relaxing atmosphere.
Pros: Good location, close to beach and shops and activities. Owner is very responsive. nice little patio.
Cons: Not a real studio, actually 1 bedroom in a 4-5 bedroom house. small humid room, dirty wall and deco. limited outdated furniture. (1 queen bed, 1 coffee table, 2 chairs) mattress way too soft (feels like a very old mattress that lose its support ). cannot sleep comfortably. small bathroom and outdated facilities. And please don't really call a microwave in a closet and few old plates and forks a "kitchen". Old towels, please provide towels are not broken or faded.
Suggestion: Add a few more dollars on your rent, but please provide better amenities.
Our short stay at Bill's place was really nice. Bill was very friendly and accommodating over the phone. The room was large and well stocked with cooking supplies and even items you would take to the beach. Since the beach was within walking distance, we had a picnic there, got to see some amazing body boarding tricks, and watched the sun set over the water.
Everything was as advertised. Convenient location to shoreline and downtown. Would stay again.
