The Space

We have nice rooms in a old farm, colorful and full of passion for arts. We have 2 rooms for 4 people. The other 6 rooms are for 2 people. There`s a big kitchen, which is fully equipped, 2 bathrooms, 3 toilets, a living room with TV, CD`s and LP`s. You can spend an evening dancing or doing music in the dancehall with DJ gear and musical instruments. There are lot of video`s and music free of use. Outside you can enjoy your meals between fruit trees or just sit around in green with your friends or family. We have also a little wooden house for 2 persons. The Villa is near a small village near to the Polish border. The next big town is 5 km far away. You can have a meal in a restaurant which you can reach by foot- it is 500 m away from the house. This area is full of lakes and some of them are close. You can swim there. There is a Internet connection too and lots of parking place.
In the winter it`s only possible to rent for a longer time than 10 days, because of the heatingsystem

  • Not 6 K-meters from the Polish border in the little burg of Otovice. This area is known by hikers, bikers, and travelers for its beauty. There is a full service restaurant at the base of the hill where the house sits, an easy walk so you can have a beer or two and not have to drive to and from. We enjoyed a couple of meals there and the food was great. Some young folks at the restaurant were very helpful and had we stayed longer this would have been our central spot for any meals we didn't make ourselves. From the states, I had seen pictures of the farm house, and I really wanted to stay in a home with vaulted ceilings. The farm house is a beautiful building, no doubt steeped in history, and really set my imagination to wondering, as we explored. The farm home in itself would have been an interesting spot to record our experience, but in addition we were offered access to some of the musical instruments there and could so then add some melody to the evening. It was early April when we visited, and the host had some unexpected emergency business to attend to. He trusted us with the key, and we would have found ourselves at home there had it not been that we could not get a signal to the HVAC thermostat, and so were unable to heat the house. There was a way to heat a small area near the kitchen, and a bed was made near a wood stove there, but hang experience heating with wood in the states, I didn't feel comfortable starting a fire in the stove, as I could not be sure that it would be safe, and I did not want to damage the house in any way. In peak season, it looks like the house is set up on the order of a youth hostile, with many beds in many rooms and a lot of Recreation space in common rooms. The kitchen has what it would take for making meals, but for us missing the family that we had hoped to have meals with was unfortunate. A lot of effort has been put into bringing the house from a condition that it seems to have been found in, ( the attic area shows that from the roof down there must have been a period of disuse somewhere in the past, and the improvements that have been made lead us to believe that a lot of good memories have recently been made there. We would recommend it for hikers, and bikers, artists, and anyone who would like to have an unusual experience and can take care of themselves without any needs requiring a full time host.

  • Spent just one night at Villa Strooikaas, but it was enough to realize how much you like the place. It was tidy and silent in the rooms, as the walls are really thick. The owners are really nice and friendly people, speaking fluent english and always having people around. Animal lovers are really allowed. The place is really green! We enjoyed our stay, tea we were given and company we had there!

  • We had a great time in Otovice. The house was very nice and cosy. Rudi and Rikki were not there when we stayed at the house but their friend Sarka was very friendly welcoming and showed us the area.

  • Staying in 'Villa Strooikaas' is a great experience! It's situated in the beautiful czech countryside near the polish border. The house in a experience in it self with a lot of sound equipment and a James Bond room, with the most amazing bed, i'd ever seen.
When we visited two families living there. They're fun, openminded and make you feel welcome instantly. The kids had even learned some danish phrases through (website hidden) translate. We had a great diner together and time to talk and relax. All in all 'Villa Strooikaas' was an oasis where we could replenish before continue our travels..

  • Even though Rudi and Rikki could not be present at their property when we visited, the whole communication and the process of booking with them was very smooth and quick. Rudi had answered all of our questions within 24 hours and was very accomodating with our requests.
When we arrived to Villa Strooikaas we were welcomed by another family member who made our stay amazing and unforgettable. Villa Strooikass is great destination for families with small children, and everyone who wants to experience life in the Czech countryside. You will be welcomed by mixture of Dutch old and retro pieces of furniture and small and big items which you will find all over the Villa. You can choose to stay at James Bond room, music room or maybe Tour de France room? The sense of humor and love for arts and music of the owners is demonstrated all over the property.
If you are too fussy and are looking for a luxury this is not your place to visit though. If on the other hand you are looking to run away from the city and busy life in luxury, to get lost in beautiful nature and spend time in a great company, then this would be your perfect place to stay. We loved it and our little daughter did too.

About
Always look at the bright side of life, that`s my motto. Love people, work hard, relax as much as you can, help everybody. I love to travel all over the world but cycling or walking in the mountains is the best. Sunshine helps a lot but snow is also great. If you stay with us you find it very relaxing but if you want to work or talk there is enough to do. Making and listening to music is the big thing in Villa Strooikaas. Live and love together.
