Enjoy your stay!
I really enjoy my stay at Amy's place. She has a nice and spacious house in a quiet neighborood close to the river. From the very beginning, Amy was very nice with me. As she speaks french, she proposed me to join her for dinner in a restaurant with her french friends. She makes you feel at home and wants you to enjoy your stay. The room has all you need and the bed is just perfect. I hardly recommend that place for your stay in Sacramento.
Amy was extremely open and welcoming despite my busy schedule during the week. The house was in a nice quiet neighbourhood (about a 20 min walk to the light rail for those without a car) and the room was spacious and clean. Thanks again!
Amy is a welcoming and helpful host. Her house is nicely decorated, located in a safe neighborhood, and a quick drive from the nearest highway. She's extremely active and has many recommendations for guests. And, her dog Bailey is a sweetheart.
Amy is a wonderful host who made me feel comfortable and welcome even before I arrived for my first airbnb stay. I knew I would enjoy my visit based on our shared love of travel, foreign languages and more. It was a real delight to find that Amy and I also share a passion for helping others and have both worked in counseling and social services. I really appreciate Amy's approach to hosting, wherein she made it clear that I could relax in privacy or visit with her in the back yard or central area of the home.
The first night of my stay we talked for hours, enjoyed a few glasses of wine (which Amy graciously provided) and shared experiences of our work in the social services. This was reminiscent of my visits to the charming 'pensiones' in Europe where one can interact with the host, learn about the city from a local persepctive and experience the place in a more authentic way.
As others have noted, Bailey is a sweet dog whom I really enjoyed meeting. He made me feel welcome and at ease, as if part of the pack! This was bittersweet for me as my own pet was injured while I was staying with Amy and I had to shorten my stay by one day. Again, Amy came through with kindness and understanding. She made it easy for me to adjust my dates, which was very helpful.
All in all, I am very happy with my stay and appreciative of Amy's hospitality and kind, extroverted personality. I feel a kinship and connection with Amy that extends beyond our mutual wanderlust and sense of adventure. My warmest regards and gratitude!
This was my second stay with Amy and I plan to stay many more times. She is such a great host! See my first review for more details. Will be back for sure !!
Amy was such a gracious host. I give her an A+ (5 out of 5 stars) etc. ! She was very communicative and easy to reach when I needed it, and gave me all the space I wanted when I needed it. A+ all around.
The pictures in the listing are accurate. Her home is very clean and well maintained and inviting.
Neighborhood is very quiet. I slept with the window open and did not hear a single car drive by, yet it is only 2 minutes from the freeway and my work.
Amy's dog Bailey is so well behaved I did not know her was there 99% of the time and he is a super friendly dog (I tend not to like dogs but he is amazing).
Amy was very thoughtful and always made sure I was comfortable. I forgot a few things like Q-Tips, hair dryer, etc. and she had them on hand and gladly offered them all for my use.
This is what every Air BNB experience should be like. I will be back in this area on business and will be staying here again !!
Thanks so very much Amy !!
I contacted the host Amy a week before arriving to inquire, and book. I said in my message that I sleep late and was looking forward to her hot tub. The night before I was to arrive, Amy called to say that her hot tub was not functioning, and that she had a student/client my first morning arriving at 9:30am. Fortunately Amy did get the hot tub working, but being awakened by her dog barking (because of the client visit) the first day, and then the next day -- Amy actually scheduled a service person to visit early the next next morning, made it a tough trip, i.e. I did not sleep well.
in sum, Amy is a well-intentioned person who is caught up in a hectic schedule. Her dog is a sweet one, and her hot tub is pretty good. So if you don't mind getting up early, and need to be in the area, then you should be fine.
For both Andy and I, this was clearly not an Airbnb match made in heaven, as most of my guests have been. When Andy sounded disappointed that the hot tub was not ready, I promptly emptied and cleaned it for him. He was scheduled to arrive at 10 pm, but did not arrive until almost 11. I waited up for him, altho that is way beyond a normal check in time.
I explained to Andy why the service call had to be re-scheduled. Life happens. Most guests do not come and require silence into the late morning. I have a dog. They bark sometimes. I noted to Andy that he would be better served by having his own private space, not a house share. While he was dissatisfied, I was walking on eggshells in my own home.
Andy seems like a decent person and I enjoyed talking with him about his travels, this was just not the right place for his needs.
About the Host, Amy
Hi -- I am Amy and I am a California transplant from Chicago, where I was born. I also lived in Grand Junction, CO. I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and also visited Brazil. I was drawn to this site because of the cool, international flavor. I love meeting people from different cultures. I speak French and I am an ESL tutor. In addition to giving individual lessons, I also provide Business English tutoring in corporate settings. I would love to incorporate hosting and teaching ESL lessons for those who want an intensive English language experience.
My home is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. I am 1/4 mile from the American River bike trail, for those who enjoy cycling and walking/hiking. The Light Rail is within 1 walkable mile also, which can take you downtown or to other parts of the bike trail.
I have hosted foreign exchange students and was once une etudiante etrangere in France. I would be happy to show you around Sacramento and give back some of the hospitality that has been shared with me in my travels.
