Dragon Fly house is located just ten minutes walk from the beach at Thiranagama, just south of the popular Sri Lankan resort of Hikkaduwa, in the South West of Sri Lanka. It provides you with a very comfortable base from where to enjoy everything that the area has to offer, such as surfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing or just basking on the beach in the Sri Lankan sunshine! After watching the last of the sun dip down into the Indian Ocean, relax around an open fire with a seafood BBQ or take a stroll along the beach and sample some Hikkaduwa nightlife. Maybe youll be lucky enough to see local fishermen hauling in their catch, or later on at night, a turtle coming ashore to lay her eggs! Enjoy all the advantages that come with renting your own holiday villa in Hikkaduwa and take everything at your own pace. For the duration of your holiday in Hikkaduwa, Chamila and Kumara will be on hand to attend to your every need. They will happily arrange for you a relaxing Ayurvedic massage, fishing trips, diving trips, BBQs, lagoon safaris as well as Hikkaduwa area and Sri Lanka-wide tours. Kumara has his own tuk tuk so there is no need to walk any where if the weather is too hot. The House has four spacious double bedrooms, and one single room, three fully fitted bathrooms, there is hot and cold water through-out, there is an outdoor shower, and a large kitchen. The dining area, which is outside on the verandah seats at least 12 comfortably. On the open veranda you can hang the hammock. The beautiful mature garden has many fruit plants, banana, mango, papaya, coconut and more. Each of the beds and chairs are professionally cut and hand carved from timber grown in the village. It really is the Ideal holiday home close to the beach yet away from the busy coastal area. Located in a residential part of Kumara Kanda this charming property is ideal for outside dining or lounging whilst observing the flora and fauna of this property’s very own jungle! Take a 15 minute walk to the beach or hire a scooter and go for long rides inland and discover tea plantations and lazy buffalos lying in the mud. The house was renovated two years ago to a high standard including details such as a water purification system.

  • We spent wonderful time at Belinda's house. Chandana took really good care of us. Chamila is a really good cook and prepares delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry.
The house itself is decent and clean. You need to be equipped with lot of mosquito repellents but it is nothing surprising as you stay out of town.
    We totally recommend it.

  • This is an absolute gem of an apartment. Just far enough out of town to feel like your surrounded by the peace and tranquility of Sri Lanka but close enough to walk into town (or just see the man across the way to give you a tuk tuk ride).

Chami is lovely and will help with anything you need. The balcony overlooks the paddy rice fields and the wildlife is everywhere!! Turtles popping their heads up as you swim, monkeys in the trees! The only problem you have is you'll wish you had more time in this little paradise!

  • We recently stayed in Belinda's jungle bungalow for two nights. Overall our stay was enjoyable. Belinda was very communicative online and helped us pre-arrange transportation from the airport in Colombo to her home. The room is as it appears in photos, very clean, airy and bright though a little dark at night as there were only two lights in the room. The property itself was pleasant and had a comfortable outdoor area. Belinda and her sons were helpful in terms of recommending restaurants in the area and arranging tuk tuks to go to Galle (a breezy ~30 min or so ride to Galle Fort) and to town for dinner (~5 min). Ginger, Belinda's dog, was also very sweet.

We felt that the experience could have been even better had we had a proper tour of the house in the beginning as we were unsure of some basic questions such as where to get water in the middle of the night. Also, while the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast cooked for us by Belinda's neighbors was incredibly delicious and memorable, it would have been nice to have been told about the price of the breakfast (550 rupees per person) beforehand rather than being handed a bill as we left. These are only minor gripes though. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at Belinda's.

  • Staying at Belinda's after our Sri Lanka tour was a real treat. She is willing to give you directions for an easy reach to her house or arrange for a car to pick you up from the airport. The rooms are lovely, simply and beautifully decorated, with a vintage touch. Everything is clean and well-maintained. Belinda and her family made us feel very welcome, they are relaxed and friendly and try their best to answer all your questions, give you tips and share the "inside information" you wish to know, as a tourist. In the morning, you might have the chance to see playful monkeys in the garden or watch a Komodo dragon leisurely crossing the road. Great place to stay even if you like to head to the beach every day, it's near and you can see on your way palm trees, beautiful houses, rice fields, temples. The food is delicious, you can either eat Sri Lankan dishes or international ones. Based on her own experience, Belinda might recommend you where to hang out, go to the beach, shop, take a massage or visit interesting places. Really recommend!

  • I loved this apartment. I stayed there for almost 3 months. Belinda very generously accommodated some last minute changes and Chami (who manages the place day to day) made sure I had everything I needed throughout my stay. The view from the balcony is quite something and a world away from the busy tourist scene of Hikkaduwa, although it's only a short 10 minute bike ride away. I ended up going on a few organised tours with Chami too. I'm so glad I did. At first I just didn't want to leave this lovely apartment but Chami's tours are something special, and far from ordinary. This was my first time in Sri Lanka and, thanks to Belinda and Chami, it was a really good experience.

  • Belinda is a great host. Kind and helpful, she will be happy to show you the best places, restaurants or even if you want to run surf lessons. Everyone knows her and she know the best places in town. The house is beautiful, spacious room, in the middle of the jungle but very close to hikkaduwa beach, with a nice nightlife. Definitely, if you come to Hikkaduwa you must go to Belinda's

  • We loved our stay! Gorgeous place and after traveling for 3.5 months, it's so nice to be able to cook your own food! Chami is wonderful and can't do enough to make you feel comfortable. We will be back!!

  • I have mixed emotions about my stay here. Overall we had a good time. The house is mostly as described and a short drive to local amenities. Beds are comfortable, house spacious and outside garden area very relaxing. The one thing that did create some confusion is that you do not have full run of the house as it says you do. You basically are sharing with the owners. Belinda was away, but Simon and his daughter were living in the house at the same time. Even though in their own quarters, common areas are not yours exclusively. Simon was helpful and non-intrusive, but if you are expecting to have the house to yourself, you could be disappointed. The house was also not as clean as it could be, with alot of clutter, but not a huge issue. Overall a good stay, that could have felt better if the living arrangements were clearer.

  • We had wonderful days with belinda . you feel absolutely comfortable and belinda and simon are warm people . The garden offers opportunities , a great romantic evening on the garden bed.
the only point of criticism is the proximity to the street name . even as we live in a very quiet area , the passing cars were for us at night, with windows open , disturbing.Übersetzung
the location is great to surrounding attractions like mijas etc to visit. the way to the beach ( Cala de Mijas ) takes about 20 minutes and is highly recommended.the two dogs represent no problem and are very loving . thank you for the nice time

I am a film maker
Having had a very busy life - now starting to call down a bit..... sort of. I have four grown up kids who have taken over my life for a long time - and I have been running a busy production company in Spain for many years. My favourite pass-times are traveling and food. When at my place you will eat well, for sure. I want to make it special when you come and stay - I appreciate constructive criticism . I love quirky people - love sudden spurts of madness and letting my hair down, but am quite calm and responsible most of the time . If there (email hidden) concert it will take me out and i will probably be the last one home, but otherwise I don't go out much. I am one to mix in with the locals and love the local food and markets - will spend hours chatting and finding out more - I help a charity in Hikkaduwa called Manacare - they do great things - I just give them my love and help a little if i can. I love to read - real life experiences - travel books - all about Asia. I am a bit of an artist and love all form of art - from photography, to painting , though fabric design and interior design and recently have been making 'mandalas' which I find very therapeutic. My motto: smile and be happy and dont interfere in how others lead their lives - we are all different!
