Come for a soul-soothing Nature connection. We welcome you for a peaceful, healing, inspirational, meditative experience in your private chalet. It overlooks pond, gardens, meadows, forest & neighboring lake. Enjoy the rich tapestry of plants & wildlife on the Swan Center grounds. Visit Stillhouse Hollow Falls, Natchez Trace Parkway, state parks, waterways, Amish country, quaint towns. Camper/ RV parking & tiny house available. Ask about healing sessions by appointment. Events welcome.

The space
We invite you to experience it and entrust it to you. The chalet at Swan Center can sleep up to 6, with a queen bed downstairs, a double floor bed which can easily be split into 2 narrow single floor beds on one side of the sleeping loft, and a single bed and a single air mattress on the floor on the other side of the loft.
We do have WiFi now which may help the otherwise spotty cell service.
Swan Center is designated as an ALCOHOL AND DRUG FREE ZONE to support the inner connection to the healing energies of Nature and the space.
Please, NO FIREARMS on the 11 acre property.
The chalet is a sanctuary, hand-crafted with natural materials, with an extensive library of books on healing, spirituality, nature and permaculture, a large sparkling kitchen, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms with small jacuzzi tub in bathroom and a washing machine in the other. Lines to hang laundry are outside. We have writing and project tables, yoga space and mats, and the chalet is surrounded by herb gardens. Swan Center sits on 11 acres of nature preserve.
We use non-toxic cleaning products.
Outside a large covered porch overlooks the valley where wind and water have sculpted the landscape over the ages. Nearby, the studio cabin may house another guest. An Airstream RV, serving as the Relaxation Station office, is in between the chalet and cabin. (See "Uplifting Studio Retreat" in the listings for Summertown to reserve the studio).
If someone in your group has a travel trailer or RV we do have power and water for them for a small extra fee.

Guest access
The whole property is available for your relaxation and enjoyment. The 11 acres is posted for no hunting or trespassing. Boundaries are marked.
Note that there is no barbecue grill or outside hot tub. The tub in the bathroom is a one-person jacuzzi tub.

Other things to note
Out of respect for the spiritually uplifting vibe at Swan Center, please abstain from alcohol and illegal substances. The vibe has been accumulating for over 3 years here. Your presence adds to it. It is a non-smoking area.
For walking, you may want to have sturdy shoes if you venture into the meadows or forest, and clothes to handle sudden bursts of rain. In the winter it might be chilly, wet, snowy, or sunny, even kind of balmy sometimes.

Location

Summertown, Tennessee, United States

Near the historic towns of Mt. Pleasant, Columbia, Hohenwald, Ethridge, Lawrenceburg, Hampshire, and Amish communities, Summertown was known for its healing waters, attracting visitors from as far away as Chicago. Located near Hwy 43, it's about midway between Nashville, Tennessee and Florence, Alabama. We are deep into southern hospitality country, with hundreds of local churches and many historic sites. Summertown sits on the corner of 3 counties, Lawrence, Lewis, and Maury, each with rolling hills, historic sites, waterways, rich farmland, scenic parks, and town centers with museums and antiques. We have brochures at Swan Center for more information about local sights, events, and history.
Activities and stuff:
*Hiking on site - 11 acres of hill and valley, (walking with mindfulness because nature will not be tamed). Boundaries are fenced and/or posted.
* 'Good for you' food is available down Hwy 20 going east and west. Also in the small local cities of Lawrenceburg, Hohenwald, Mt. Pleasant, Columbia, and Waynesboro.
* Places to go - Amish farms with food and crafts, Meriwether Lewis State Park, the Buffalo River with canoeing and kayaking, the Natchez Trace Parkway (from Natchez Mississippi to Nashville Tennessee), Stillhouse Hollow Falls, David Crocket State Park, local classes, farmers and artisans, and antique and thrift stores in Lawrenceburg and Hohenwald with local treasures.
*Hospitals and clinics in Lawrenceburg and Columbia, and a walk-in clinic in Summertown.

You'll find amazing scenery and people who've settled here from far and wide. You just never know who you will meet or what you will find.
We are a couple of miles out from the town center. In a rural area with homesteads, farms and a bit of suburbia. New Order Amish are 10+ miles down the road. Old Order Amish farms populate the area north of Lawrenceburg. The Farm community, an ecovillage founded in 1971 with 1,750 acres, is 2 miles away with a little museum/gift shop, a CBD shop, a food store with tie-dyes and books, and tours. (Closed curerntly due to the Covid19 .)

Summertown is a small village with a post office, bank with ATM, hair salon, a cafe, oddities shop, vehicle repair shop, and gas stations. Neighbors and store owners are helpful and friendly. On Hwy 43 there is a grocery, used items store, Sonic, Subway, tire shop, walk-in clinic.
Cell phone service is spotty in Summertown due to inadequate signal coverage, but there are spots at Swan Center where you can "get out." Having WiFi now should help.

Please note: I host both on and off The Farm. “Uplifting Retreat at Swan Center” is 2.1 miles from The Farm. My life has been dedicated to peace - in self, family, community and the world. With 150 or so others we co-founded The Farm spiritual community in TN in 1971. Later I became a mother, accountant, teacher, massage therapist, designer and builder, and have always loved building good soil. I lived in many places, but keep coming back home to Tennessee where I live in a forest with my sweetheart, Tomas, among several hundred old and new friends.. We enjoy world music, sharing meals, building community, singing sacred songs, and doing the Dances for Universal Peace. With friends I created my latest project, a manifestation of a vision I have held for 27 years, a retreat center on 11 rural acres to host people with a menu of options including silence and solitude. I offer massage, energy work, coaching on empathy and intuition, classes on self care, healing, and creativity, with the surrounding gardens, pond, fields and forest for relaxation and growth. All has been created with the intention to support guest's connection to the Divine, within and all around us. Life just keeps getting better and better. I love to meet and get to know people, knowing we are all "cousins." Supporting people's unique gifts brings me joy. But I respect guests' and friends' privacy, and all are welcome to establish their desired boundaries. (Hugs are cool with me!)
