This property has everything anyone could want. It has two bedrooms and a charming bath. It is located in the most desirable location in Boulder, walking distance to Pearl St. The yard is private and lush with views of the mountains.
This is a great place. Fully equipped, and very cozy. It is located in the most desirable location in Boulder, an easy walk to Pearl St (4blks). The enclosed yard is spacious and lush, with stunning views of the city.
This cozy and wonderful space feels like a great getaway. The space has wonderful mountain views and is set above the city and hence is quieter and more removed feeling. Truly the best of both worlds!
The yard is a wonderful and relaxing oasis in which to lounge or work. It is fully enclosed with fences all around and feels very private but open and expansive. There is a grill for outdoor fun and plenty of sitting areas. It could not be more kid friendly, being enclosed as it is and since it is equipped with a jumbo sandbox (5x10feet).
Please note: The only way of entering and/or exiting the property is by several wide and flat flagstone steps from the parking lot. This property is not handicapped/wheelchair accessible.
Owner keeps lovely chickens (hens, no roosters) in the far back of the yard, out of the way yet still accessible for a gander and even a fresh egg!
There is a private entrance to the apartment through the gate around the yard. The fabulous yard will be mostly private for our guests except for owner upkeep, a small out building that owner uses as an office and maintenance and chicken tending.
Interaction with Guests
It is our intention to make welcome our guests as best we can, and if there is a need we have a plethora of knowledge of the area and activities available in Boulder. We live onsite and will be available on an as needed basis.
The Whittier neighborhood is one of the most sought after in Boulder, for good reason. This property is even more wonderful than pure location since it is up on a bluff, overlooking all of the downtown, with stunning views of the Flatirons and city at the same time. It is an easy and pleasant walk to Pearl St. attractions, as well as a small shopping area with Ideal Food Market and wonderful local restaurants.
The 204 bus line is a block away. The main downtown Bus station is a short walk away, maybe 10 minutes for an average walker.
Other Things to Note
The bathroom is accessed off of the main master bedroom. Anyone using the bathroom will need to go through the bedroom to do so. The ceilings are a bit low, around 6'7". This make for a cozy, warm atmosphere but may feel odd if you are a very tall person.
No smoking inside or outside of the home.
Pets have to be approved on a case by case basis and will be subject to an additional security deposit. In any case, they may not be left alone on the premises.
This listing was fantastic! Everything was as Aaron said it would be, and my family had a great stay in Boulder. The place was cozy, clean, and very nice. We did not have much interaction with the hosts, but they were friendly, informative, and provided everything we could need during our stay. We will definitely consider them again the next time my family visits town.
The house was roomy, cozy and warm. We didn't find any eggs in the chicken coup but our four year old had lots of fun looking
We had lots of privacy but Aaron was nearby in case anything came up. Had we been less busy it would have been nice to get to know him more.
It's a bit tricky to find the entrance on your own but the with the map he sent we had no problems whatsoever.
One suggestion for guests during the winter: we managed with a regular rental car but if snow is expected we suggest a 4x4.
This comfortable, welcoming apartment helped to make our family's trip to Boulder restful and fun. The space is nicely up for a family with kids (5 & 8): trundle bed, well appointed kitchen for cooking, easy laundry, a back yard for running around. We all had space and were quite comfy. The parents' favorite features were the mountain views & the easy, pretty walk into downtown. The kids loved the chickens. Aaron was welcoming and responsive but not intrusive at all. We were aware of his family in the same way you'd be aware of neighbors in an adjoining apartment. We're recommending it for family who will be visiting Boulder soon and will be using it again when we return!
Aaron was great. He met us upon arrival and welcomed us. His place is as advertised. My family of four loved it, especially the chickens; which are surprisingly quiet. I would love to stay here again.
Our family enjoyed this adorable and cozy basement apartment with a full kitchen that had everything we needed. It was clean, light, and airy, very comfortable for two adults and a child, with room to spare.
The location is convenient; we walked to Pearl Street often, and it was an easy stroll to get groceries, too. The youngster loved saying good morning to the chickens.
We woke up to a few inches of snow on Sunday, and Aaron helpfully loaned us a sled and recommended a nearby hill. So nice! Radiant floor heat in the kitchen and wall heaters in each room kept everything nice and cozy.
Host greeted us upon arrival. Good location. Steep stairs not AHA accessible. Noisy upstairs, heavy footsteps and vacuuming at 8am. Thankfully we were awake. Low ceilings in BR and den; I'm 6'2" and almost hit the ceiling. We'd stay here again, good price and location.

I'm born and raised here in Boulder and love the mountains so much I don't think I could ever leave. I have traveled extensively though, and spent years living in south east Asia and adventuring about the world. So I know what its like to be on the road and how nice it is to have a home base that's clean, comfortable, and in the heart of whats going on. I enjoy giving back to travelers and guests, making sure they are happy and comfortable as so many hosts have done to me during my wanderings. Now I have a lovely wife and two amazing kids and try and spend as much time with them camping, running rivers, skiing, hiking and enjoying our beautiful state as I can. We're lucky to live in this great town and I look forward to sharing it with you.
