We were told upon arrival that we needed to book and pay for breakfast separately, even though the guesthouse advertises as a b&b.
We agreed to the first morning but decided to go elsewhere for breakfast on the second morning as the breakfast room was empty and not very welcoming. Only upon check-out were we told by another member of staff that breakfast as in fact included.
The room we were given (21) was the size and shape of a classroom, far too big for a bedroom and the various items in the room were dwarfed by the size of the room.
There were large windows all round but no privacy other than closing all the big curtains.
No light over the dressing table, so putting on make-up was very difficult.
Staff were friendly though and everything was clean.
It was a pleasure for us to stay for three nights at Karoopark Guest host. Nice and service oriented staff and clen and nice room.
Had a wonderful overnight stay at Karoopark. Great suite of two rooms, bathroom, lounge and kitchen. Not that we needed the latter. Ate a congenial meal at the restaurant, and tried the Withond local liqueur, after being wonderfully regaled with the rules and rituals surrounding its consumption. We slept well that night, with the right mix of the Withond afterglow and comfortable beds.
Marizanne was a delightful host. This place is a keeper for future forays into this region.
We had a pleasant albeit short stay in Karoopark lodge, on or drive through from Cape Town. The Guesthouse is much larger than it seems on the listing, and with a large variety of accommodations. While we chose to explore Graaff Reinett on the evening that we arrived, there was an option to have dinner at the lodge's restaurant and reception was very helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was ample off road parking.
Karoopark Guest House combines history with modern comfort. Situated in a late 18th century house the room we were staying in had a modern interior and a luxury bathroom with bathtub and shower. And it was quite big with a glassfront towards the garden, where one could sit on a bench until late in the evening.
We had dinner in the restaurant one night, the food is rather good. It was the best housemade icecream I had for a long time.
Every tourist attraction is in walking distance and the guest house is a good place to start a trip towards the Camdeboo National Park, only a ten minutes drive away.
I can warmly recommend a stay.
