Description

The space

This is a comfortable guest house located in the charming Old Northeast neighborhood. You will enter the newly-renovated 1920's cottage through a shared, gated courtyard. The courtyard is a tropical outdoor living space with a beautiful sectional sofa and table / chairs for outdoor dining. As you enter the cottage through the french doors you will notice it is a cozy, clean and fresh space decorated in traditional 1920's styling with wood floors, subway tile and stained glass. The first floor has a fully-furnished living area complete with a kitchenette and full bathroom. The upstairs loft includes a queen bed and a twin bed for additional guests or a quiet space to read a book.

This space was built in 1920 for the original owner's Model-T Ford. As such, the cottage is a compact space, but well-planned for a comfortable stay. Both floors are approximately 220 square feet. The stairs to the loft bedroom are narrow and the ceiling is low in a portion of the upstairs loft.

The kitchenette is fully equipped with a Keurig coffee maker, bottles of water, soda, starbucks coffee, microwave oven, refrigerator, blender, toaster, dishes, glasses, cutlery, corkscrew, can opener, paper towels, dishtowels and dish soap.

The bathroom is crisp and clean with hotel amenities including luxury linens, a hair dryer and bath products. An additional vanity area is located in the upstairs loft bedroom with a makeup mirror and electrical outlets.

Also provided are extra linens, towels, beach towels, beach chairs, beach bags, coolers, hair dryer and dvd player.

Guest access

The cottage is next to the main house with both homes having french door access to the courtyard. The gate and outdoor courtyard will be private for your use during your stay. Parking is in the driveway in front of the cottage and is free.

Also available is secure wifi, cable TV and a Smart surround sound system.

A Laundromat and CVS is located two blocks from the cottage.

Interaction with guests

I am at home when you visit and welcome conversation and any questions you may have for exploring the area.

The neighborhood

The New York Times says, "The Old Northeast neighborhood is just north of St. Petersburg's downtown, making it walking-distance to the city's booming cultural and entertainment scene."

This home is located in the perfect place to really enjoy the city. Walk to downtown, the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel (which hosts outdoor events almost every weekend), Beach Drive, the marina, waterfront parks, bars, clubs, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, art galleries, Sundial Plaza, Muvico 20, community swimming pool and tennis courts.

Attend a Tampa Bay Rays game at Tropicana Field or the Rowdies soccer at Al Lang Stadium.

Visit the Saturday Morning Market, shop at the vast retro / vintage stores or beautiful boutiques along Central Avenue. Also visit the vintage markets and antique shops throughout downtown for the most fantastic finds.

This city is full of cultural destinations: Salvador Dali Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, The Chihuly Collection, Florida's Holocaust Museum, The Palladium and The Mahaffey Theatre.

The cottage is also within a few blocks / miles from Publix, Winn-Dixie, Rolling Oats, Fresh Market, CVS and Walgreens.

Getting around

The cottage is walking or biking distance from everything. A trolley stop is two blocks down the street in front of the Vinoy (for $.50) and will take you through the city, as well as, to St. Pete Beach.

It is a 30-minute drive from Tampa International Airport and St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport. It is walking distance from the Albert Whitted Airport.

It is a few blocks from the interstate and just a 30-minute drive to world-famous beaches: St. Pete Beach, Clearwater Beach, Fort de Soto.

Other things to note

The owners live on site and have two cats that mainly stay in the house. Sometimes they will venture outside, so you may see them meandering around the property. They do not have access to the cottage.

We had an amazing stay at Julie's cottage. The space is small but beautifully appointed. It's like staying in a magical place. There were 3 of us (adults) and had plenty of room. It's located in an amazing neighborhood, just blocks from the bay.

Julie's place is a gem in the middle of St. Pete's historic Old Northeast neighborhood, a charming residential area full of 1920s craftsman homes. It's small, but cozy - perfect for one or two people. A great place to stay if you're looking to explore downtown St. Pete, or just to have an extremely comfortable home base for a business trip. Would rent again in a heartbeat!

Julie's cottage is one of the best Airbnb's that my wife and I have stayed in! It was immaculate with every convenience accounted for- even labels for the remotes, Cokes in the fridge, and a guide to the city printed out! It was only a short walk (~15 min) from Central Ave where the food and night life were amazing; truly something for everyone! Can't wait to come back to St. Pete and visit again... Thanks so much Julie!!!

Julie's place is my go-to spot when traveling for business to the Tampa Bay area. Her place is extremely clean and situated in a great location to take advantage of the bay and all the great restaurants in Downtown St. Pete. Julie herself is a fantastic hostess and communicates very well.
