About This Listing
Come & stay at this cosy quiet house in the centre of Ennis. I host acoustic winter gigs in a candle-lit setting and now it has become an Air B & B for the summer! Musicians such as Julie Feeney, Declan Sinnott and Albert Niland have played here.
Its a cosy & bright little house with an ensuite double bedroom available to guests. Fresh fruit, coffee or herbal tea and homemade bread is available for breakfast as I love to bake.
Ensuite double bedroom and sitting room & kitchen and possibly the back garden for breakfast if the weather permits! The room is available to 1 or 2 people at €25 per person per night.
Interaction with Guests
I will be available to guests for tips on the local area and what's on in terms of festivals and music gigs. I'll also have tips on good places to eat in Ennis and nearby.
This is a quiet area within 10 minutes of the town centre which is handy for eating out or for going to a pub or gig. Ennis is only 30 minutes from the coast of Clare - including the Burren lunar landscape, the majestic Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch beach, Milltown Malbay.
Ennis town's narrow streets and laneways are a pleasure to ramble and offer many opportunities to visit some unique and diverse boutiques, shops, cafes, pubs & restaurants.
Ennis links quite well to Shannon International Airport and Galway and Limerick city and if you need to get to Dublin city it's only 2 and a half hours on the M7/M18 Motorway.
Other Things to Note
Ennis is a handy base for exploring the West of Ireland if you are on a tight schedule. Shannon International Airport is a 20-minute drive away.
My house is very chilled out and operates on a simple principle of mutual respect. The only rule is don't feed my golden retriever Hughie any chocolate, thanks!
A lovely host.. we took a taxi from the bus as it was easier , once there we had no problem getting around. Lorraine was very accomodating and pleasant. She had lots of info for us.. the bedroom and ensuite were excellent and we slept like babies..we were even treated to homemade sourdough bread...her dog Hughie is a delight and the back garden was a treasure . Lorraine even gave us a lift to the bus. A lovely lady and we enjoyed our stay
I've just spent a week at Lorraine's cosy home in Ennis. I was warmly welcomed with a big smile from her, with a cup of herbal tea (from her garden), and by a happy waggely Hughie, her dog. The garden was very pleasant in the spring afternoon sunshine. My room was very spacious and very clean, with a comfy bed and a private bathroom en suite. But what made my stay so special was no doubt Lorraine's kindness. It didn't take long to see that she has a big heart. Conversation comes easy as she has many fields of interest, one of which being healthy nutrition and smart cooking! That takes me to what should not be missed while staying with Lorraine: her wonderful homemade-handmade sourdough organic bread for breakfast! I am looking forward to going back at Lorraine's home on my next visit to Ennis.

Lorraine is a great host. She was very quick to reply my email. Her house is very clean and tidy. The bed room is very clean and comfortable. I think here is very quiet and safe place. So, it makes me feel comfortable and relaxed when I stayed at house. And, Lorraine kindly gave me a ride to the bus station in the morning due to I need to go to Dublin city urgently. I would highly recommend her house to my friends when they travel in Ennis.
I had a great experience staying with lorraine Hughes in Ennis ireland. From the moment I tried to contact her to reserve her space until I said goodbye in teh morning she was such a great hostess. She was very quick in replying to my initial request which was very helpful because i was arriving shortly to her town. She greeted me upon arrival with a big smile and a warm hug. She gave me great directions which were emailed to me so I could print them out and easily find her house. The house was much bigger than i expected and very clean and cozy. It might be helpfule to add pictures to her site because i was pleasantly surprised by the size of my bedroom. The one picture on the site made the place to appear very small....and it is quite large. A beautiful patio and grden added to the ambiance and warmth of her greeting me. She offered some great recommendations of places to see and where to stay and I am enjoying the fruits of that conversation now We had a fresh herb tea she brewed straight from her garden herbs. She is an intelligent woman so i enjoyed a lively conversation with her until my eyes and body gave in to the jet lag of flying from Florida, USA. She kindly gave me a ride into town in the morning on her way to work so i could easily catch my bus to the next destination. I would highly recommend her to anyone traveling into this area of ireland. and I will return myself to visit her because we formed a nice bond and friendship.
About the Host, Lorraine
I have been living in County Clare for 13 years and I first moved here because its such a musical place. I love going to live gigs and try to see a few each month - its a healthy addiction! I host winter acoustic gigs in my candle-lit living room - check out my wordpress blog 3 bed semi for more details.
The house is very chilled out and I'm on hand for any tips or help during your stay - whether its to do with getting around Clare or the west of Ireland or whatever.
I hope you like dogs as Hughie, my 12 year old golden retriever, lives here too.
I've rented the room out to more long-term lodgers over the past 8 years. I'm very well travelled myself having been to most of Europe, China, Vietnam, Namibia, North and South America including the Galapagos islands! So I'm well used to tourists and fellow travellers.
