Welcome to my pretty double room in the historic village of Wimbledon opening onto a private wildlife garden just 20 minutes to central London. A peaceful retreat, a sunny outlook and a delicious breakfast await you at my relaxing home . . .

The Space

Full of natural light and south-facing, this warm and inviting room is located at the secluded end of my apartment where you will have privacy and peace and quiet. Suitable for short stays and guests with planned activities during the day.
You will have a set of keys to come and go as you please.

There's a new solid pine double bed, exceptionally comfortable memory mattress, king-size duvet, anti-allergy bedding, large soft towels and bathrobes and slippers. Comfortable seating and a dining table where you can enjoy the organic breakfast in the morning sun. The adjacent bathroom (shared with me) is stocked with free toiletries and has a power shower and bathtub.

Readers have a library of books, novels and poetry to browse through in the bookcase. And to connect to the internet I provide super-fast Wifi broadband and a Sony Vaio laptop.

Facilities in your room:

* Double bed 4ft 6in by 6ft 3in (137 cm x 190 cm),
* 4 pillows, king size duvet
* Towels, large bath sheet and hand towel
* Bath robe and slippers
* Powerful hair dryer with diffuser
* WiFi superfast internet broadband
* Laptop - Sony Vaio
* TV - digital cable with 100s of channels
* DVD player and movie library
* International plug adaptors
* Hanging space and luggage racks
* Radio
* Alarm clock
* Library of books, novels, poetry, photography
* Maps and London guidebooks
* Heating - adjustable
* Tower fan for hot days
* Water carafes - replenished daily
* Dining table and comfortable chairs
* First aid kit and sewing kit

Oh, and binoculars to lie back in bed and watch the cats chase the squirrels.

I have a standing order with an organic farm that delivers wholemeal and white bread, muesli, granola, orange & apple juice, yogurt, cheese, butter, milk and a seasonal fruit & veg box. Drinks include filter coffee (caff & decaff) and varieties of tea. There is also a Smoothie Maker.

Guest Access

Prepare your organic breakfast in the small galley kitchen for eating at the dining table in your room or alfresco on the private patio. You are welcome to use the kitchen to help yourself to drinks, store food in the small fridge and prepare snacks.

Please note there is no stove / hob availability, but you are welcome to heat up 'ready meals' eg pizza in the oven and prepare salads in the evening.

You share the bathroom and kitchen with me, but I consider your needs a priority.

There is a washing machine and dryer available to use at £5 per load. Iron and ironing board are available.

The garden is available for you to enjoy in the mornings and evenings. During the day I will be accessing the garden.

Interaction with Guests

I am an experienced and successful host, having achieved Superhost status with Airbnb, so you will feel relaxed as soon as you arrive at my home. But at the same time I respect your need for privacy.

After a short tour to settle you in, I give you a set of keys and leave you in peace.

I live and work in the apartment and share the facilities with you. Having lived and worked in London for many years I can help newcomers with sightseeing ideas and travel plans.

I am a relaxed and friendly host, and encourage you to make yourself at home and enjoy the peaceful environment I have created.

The Neighborhood

Wimbledon is one of London's most perfect villages, full of high-end shopping, award-winning gastro-pubs, rambling Wimbledon Common and, of course, the Tennis Championships. The All England Tennis Club is 1 mile away, a 20 minute walk.

Local to my apartment there are restaurants and bars including good gastro-pubs with traditional ales and country charm. A large quality supermarket, Waitrose, is two minutes around the corner.

Getting around

Wimbledon Station is a 0.4 mile walk, about 8-10 minutes. From the station you can travel by tube, District Line (green) or overland train to Central London in less than 20 minutes. A bus stop is directly around the corner and can take you to the station or directly into town. Good taxi services can be organised as well as parking permits if you are arriving by car.

Airport connections are good. Heathrow and Gatwick airports offer many rail, tube and bus routes on public transport. Journey times are from 50 minutes to 1.5 hours. A taxi from Heathrow is 30 minutes. I provide a link so you can book a cab from abroad ahead of your arrival.

Other Things to Note

This accommodation is suitable for adults and children over 9 years of age only.

The double bed has a headboard and foot rail, so may be slightly constricting for persons over 6ft in height.

I have two cats, Hansel and Gretel. They are very well behaved and will not enter your room, unless invited. They are too busy chasing the squirrels...

Check-in is after 4pm and check-out at 1pm. Luggage may be dropped off at any time after 11am to help you plan your trip comfortably.

  • Janeys place was perfect for our needs - great location, excellent facilities, wonderful host. Highly recommend as a base for exploring London but staying outside the hustle and bustle. And a lovely walk to the Wimbledon Tennis courts. Janey has thought of every need, even down to organic bread for breakfast.

  • Janey (email hidden)! She was very calm, reassuring and welcoming! Her place is straight out of a child's novel. The room had everything you need! But of course, the garden is just another world in itself. Waking up to the garden every morning, it was really magical. Wimbledon was an amazing location! It had lovely cafes, great life, and of course when I went, it was during the Wimble tournament so there was a lot of buzz and excitement. Wimbledon is extremely convenient to get to the city center - it's almost unbelievable. The rail will get you there in about 17 minutes! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, and I highly recommend Janey! She will definitely make you feel right at home.

  • We want to thank Janey for being (email hidden) and for her lovely accommodations. The garden room was the perfect way to relax after a busy day in the city. And we loved her cats Hansel and Gretel too. We hope to see her again and would recommend her place to anyone who wants a relaxing beautiful atmosphere.

  • We had a very nice stay at Janey's. She is very friendly and attentive.
    The lovely room is comfortable and clean, maybe a bit small but cozy.
    Unfortunately because of the weather, we could not enjoy the fabulous patio as often as we would have liked to.
    However, it was always a pleasure to come back to the oasis of calm after visiting the exciting city.
    We recommend it warmly to anyone visiting London who likes also to enjoy a nice quiet place to rest.

  • We had a great time with Janey in Wimbledon. Janey (email hidden) who made us very welcome and the room was lovely. It was a lovely retreat to come back to at the end of the day. The are is perfect with everything that you need yet with a peaceful leafy feel which is a great contrast to the more hectic pace of inner London. Thank you Janey!

  • Janey was very welcoming and accommodating. She catered for our needs and her flat was very well placed for Wimbledon town centre. The room was very cosy, warm and comfortable. Janey made us feel at home.

About
With over 100 excellent reviews, I am described as friendly, helpful and generous, but also completely respectful of your privacy. Quick to respond, I think of everything to help you plan your trip comfortably. I can offer advice, providing office services for business travellers and maps and guidance for tourists. From printing boarding passes, booking taxis to providing breakfast foods you love, I enjoy making you feel welcome, relaxed and at home. I've lived in London most of my life and here in Wimbledon for 12 years. Work experience ranges from photography, journalism, computers and IT training. I'm an animal advocate and fight creature cruelty wherever I find it. I am vegetarian. I used to stand on my head during my yoga phase, and now enjoy smelling the roses in my wildlife garden and singing at the annual street party where the audience is forgiving.
