Peace and quiet

This home is in a quiet area.

Garden view

Soak up the view during your stay.
Last Stand is a private 4-cottage, 7-acre Hill Country retreat for you and your people. Spread around the common area — fire pit, picnic tables, charcoal grill — it's the kind of gathering for time together but also space to disappear to when the day ends. Perfect for milestone birthdays, family reunions, and the "we needed this" kind of weekend that quietly becomes annual tradition. Bring your people; leave the noise behind. Recommended by The Hill Country Bon Vivant. Refreshed May 2026.

The space
Escape to Last Stand TX for your group getaway, where laughter flows around the fire pit, creating unforgettable moments with friends and family. As the night settles in, retreat to your own private oasis for a restful evening.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll down to the creek, a charming tributary to the Pedernales River, and try your hand at feeding the fish. Whether you're an avid angler or simply seeking relaxation, casting a line into the water is a tranquil experience. Come evening, gather around the fire pit and witness the brilliance of the Texas night sky.

THE COTTAGES - Refreshed May 2026.
Last Stand is what happens when the four cottages come together as one private Hill Country retreat for your people and nobody else. Each cottage is its own design-forward stay, with plush beds, high-thread-count linens, blackout curtains, private baths, and thoughtfully stocked kitchenettes ready for slow mornings and long evenings. Pair off into your own space at night, then gather back at the heart of the property by day. With four cottages sleeping up to eight, it's built for milestone birthdays, girls' trips, family reunions, and the kind of "we needed this" getaways that quietly turn into annual traditions.

INTERNET SERVICE
One of the small but meaningful investments we mad in this property: underground fiber internet. Fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout, with enough bandwidth for the whole family to be online simultaneously - video calls, streaming, multiple devices - without buffering or weather-related dropout common to rural satellite service. Whether you're on a working trip or a fully unplugged weekend, the connection is there when you need it.

LAST STAND KITCHEN
Breakfast for your whole group is part of every stay — prepared by Chef Jack of Last Stand Kitchen. A retired professional chef and restaurant owner, Jack most recently served as Executive Chef at Garrison Brothers Distillery in nearby Hye. Each cottage's kitchenette is stocked before you arrive, so your group can find its own pace in the morning. No shared breakfast room, no waiting for the slow risers.

Heading to a winery, a hike at Enchanted Rock, a slow afternoon on the porch or working remotely from the cottage? A picnic lunch is a proper mid-day break - no cooking, no errand, just a meal ready in the fridge when you're ready to step away from the screen. Last Stand Kitchen packs picnic lunches on request — fried chicken, chicken salad, a Hill Country charcuterie board, or something custom Chef Jack builds for your day. Because Jack sources fresh and prepares everything by hand, picnics are made to order - subject to his weekly availability, with at least 7 days' notice before check-in. If you're closer to your arrival than that, send us a message anyway — we'll always do our best to put something together. Message us when you book.

OUTDOOR LIVING
This is where Last Stand earns its name. Enjoy the charcoal grill and picnic table ready for long, barefoot dinners under the pecan trees. A hammock sways between the branches, and a wood-burning fire pit pulls everyone in as the evening cools. When the Texas sky goes dark — and here in the Hill Country, it goes really dark — the Milky Way shows up like it's been waiting for you the whole time.

THE HILL COUNTRY
You're nestled in the heart of Fredericksburg wine country, with more than fifty vineyards and tasting rooms within easy reach — book a group tour and trade the driving between tastings. A seasonal creek runs along the property for morning walks, wildflower-hunting, and let the Merlin app see how many different bird species are singing. Spend a day climbing the pink granite dome of Enchanted Rock, wander the peach orchards and lavender fields the region is famous for, or meander historic Main Street Fredericksburg for live music, boutique shopping, and farm-to-table dinners. Then roll back home, pour another round, and let the stars close out another perfect day together.

Guest access
Booking the whole property gives you exclusive use of all four cottages and the entire common area — fire pit, charcoal grill, picnic tables, and hammocks — for your group and no one else. The four cottages spread out so guests can pair off in their own space at night and gather back at the center by day. No shared rhythms, no scheduling around strangers, just your people on seven acres of Hill Country quiet.

Other things to note
The four cottages share a beautiful common area at the heart of the property, including a fire pit, picnic table and hammock. Each cottage has its own porch for privacy when you want it, and easy access to the common area when you don't.

Pets are welcome with a $50 fee per stay (See House Rules for the full pet policy).

WiFi runs on underground fiber - fast and reliable, unaffected by weather.

A Welcome Book is in the cottage when you arrive. QR codes are available for accessing the WiFi network, the Welcome Book and the local area guide.

Neighborhood highlights

From Last Stand, the full sweep of the Texas Hill Country opens up to you and your group. A 15-minute drive west drops you on Main Street Fredericksburg, where group-friendly tasting rooms, farm-to-table restaurants, and live music venues are easy to navigate as a crew. More than fifty wineries surround the property — perfect for a curated group tour with a designated driver — and the LBJ National Historical Park, Wildseed Farms, and the pink granite dome of Enchanted Rock all sit within an easy day's reach. Just five miles east in tiny Hye, Garrison Brothers Distillery rewards a slow detour. We're Amy & Jack. We love to travel but our heart is in the Hill Country, so a few years ago we bought a property and made our dream come true. Jack is a retired professional chef & restaurant owner — most recently Executive Chef at Garrison Brothers Distillery. He prepares the breakfast that's part of every guest's stay through Last Stand Kitchen. We completed a thoughtful top-to-bottom refresh in May 2026 — new linens, restyled interiors, and updated outdoor spaces across all four cottages.
