Neighborhood highlights

Brother Island, also known as Small Darocoton, is an island in the El Nido Province of Palawan, Philippines. It is sited roughly 400km south-west from Manila and can be reached via the El Nido Airport.

El Nido, is in the province of Palawan and is handled as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Philippines. Islands, jungle and sea as you know it from movies and commercials.

The province of El Nido is known as one of the last frontiers known to the seemingly unstoppable developments of commercial tourism everywhere else.

On the neighboring islands, there are some small towns and villages. The nearest village is Ligad and can be reached by boat in 10 minutes. This is where the SAMA-SAMA charity pilot project started out by building the first highly sustainable watertank in the region, of which 8 more have been made in the last 2 years.

Then there is Teneguiban, the next bigger village, around 25 minutes away from the island. There you can find an est 80ha Mangrove Forest which is also ideal for birdwatching.

Big Daracoton Island and Cabuli Island are ideal sights for island hopping tours, both just 20 minutes away.

Small Brother Island, aka Nalbot, can be seen from the spectacular view from our Hilltop Banyan House, where the largest anchor in the world is known to be sunken, merely 5-10 minutes away. Also there is a tiny 12 meter wide beach where you can go snorkeling and have a picknick during the day.

If you are into hiking, there are also some interesting pathways from Ligad village to Djapila village or to Teneguiban. A hike to Djapila takes about 2-3 hours back and forth, and the hike to Teneguiban, around 4-5 hours.

Vis a vis on the main island of Palawan and as well on surrounding islands we can find small villages such as Ligad, Teneguiban and San Fernando. These places can be reached within 5 to 30 minutes from the island, ideal for daytrips and picknicks. Daytrips last 6 hours and cost P700/person. Daytrips include a picknick meal.
